My wife and I got married in September 2023 at Castello di Montalto. We had around 90 people staying in the area, both at the castle and at two nearby Agriturismos. Chiara and Luca were a tremendous help through the entire process. They were able to recommend everything from places to stay, catering, DJ, photographers, musicians, florists and the list goes on! We could never have done it without their tremendous help. We rented the castle for three days. On the first night we had the castle provide pizza which exceeded all of our expectations. We live in Tuscany and have gotten used to good pizza, but the folks here really know what they are doing! The second night was the wedding. Chiara and Luca helped synchronize every aspect of the event and made sure it went smoothly. The last night was much calmer. We were mainly hanging out by the pool or in local restaurants for food. For what we paid, we feel we got tremendous value for money. It is always hard to put a price on what a wedding 'should' cost, but the romantic ambience of Castello di Montalto is close to impossible to beat!

2nd time we've stayed at this wonderful medieval castle.
It is truly magnificent, and full of history, with modern conveniences.
The walks around the grounds pass the houses in the enclosed village is like stepping back in time.
The forest has easy walking trails and magnificent trees etc, as well as deer that come put at dusk. There is a pool barbecue area and small playground for children. Also a supermarket 20 mins drive away
Chiarra has worked there as manager for 20 years and is really helpful and a wealth of knowledge and very patient
Bucine train station is 25 minutes drive from the castle makes visiting local towns like Florence Assissi etc so easy, as no parking hassles as happens if you drive yourself.

Our wedding at the magnificent Castello di Montalto in Castelnuovo Berardenga, Tuscany was an absolute fairytale come true. This medieval castle, with its historic charm and enchanting surroundings, provided us with an unforgettable venue for our special day. With its numerous apartments that comfortably accommodated our 44 guests for four nights was the perfect choice for our dream destination wedding.

The highlight of our ceremony was undoubtedly the olive groves within the property. With their timeless beauty and serene atmosphere, they created a truly magical setting for our vows. Surrounded by the Tuscan countryside and the gentle rustle of the olive trees, we exchanged our promises, creating a memory that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Beyond the breathtaking scenery, what truly made our experience exceptional were the incredible staff members, Chiara and Luca, who worked tirelessly to ensure our wedding was flawless. Their unwavering dedication and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of our stay. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us with warmth and genuine care, making us feel like family.

Chiara and Luca went above and beyond to cater to our needs and the needs of our guests. Their impeccable organization and tireless efforts ensured that everything ran smoothly, allowing us to fully enjoy every moment of our celebration. They anticipated our every need, from coordinating logistics to attending to the smallest of details, making our wedding experience seamless and stress-free. They flawlessly organized our welcome dinner, ensuring that everyone felt a warm and heartfelt reception upon arrival. Additionally, the open bar and daily breakfast service added an extra touch of convenience and indulgence for our guests.

One of the most impressive aspects of Chiara and Luca's service was their flawless coordination of guest check-ins and check-outs. Despite guests arriving at different times, they managed the process with remarkable efficiency and professionalism.

The amenities offered by Castello di Montalto, including the pool, added an extra touch of relaxation to our wedding week. The venue provided a perfect blend of historical elegance and modern comforts, allowing everyone to unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

We cannot emphasize enough how Chiara and Luca truly made our experience at Castello di Montalto extraordinary. Their tireless efforts and personal touch made our wedding celebration a flawless and unforgettable experience.

We had the pleasure of getting married at the Castello Di Montalto in July 2022. We had a 3 day event (pizza party, wedding day, BBQ & pool day) with approx. 100 guests. The castle is rustic and charming and has everything you need for a great time with your loved ones.

Location - private, romantic, fairy tale
Food - traditional, delicious, generous servings
Accommodation - authentic and interesting, functional, clean

We would like to say a huge thank you to Chiara, Luca and the rest of the team for all their hard work, patience, attentiveness and hospitality. We had an amazing time and we are very thankful for your support throughout the last 3 years of planning and multiple postponements. We can only recommend and hope others are lucky enough to have a great experience like ours.

We had the pleasure of booking Castello Di Montalto for our wedding, with 30+ guests joining us.

I simply cannot find a fault. From start to finish it was just perfect.

The pictures don’t do the place justice. It’s simply stunning.

The rooms are basic but very authentic and comfortable.

Thanks to everyone who made our day very special.

We had our wedding in Montalto on the 17th of September. It could not have been more perfect! All of our guests thoroughly enjoyed the venue with every corner being more picturesque than the other. Chiara was super helpful and really understood our needs she is very approachable and kind. Luca who does everything from bartending, check in to project management was a breath of fresh air. Things could not have gone better. We can’t wait to return! Thank you all so much ♥

We stayed in the school house just recently. It was perfect for us, no stairs, closest rental to the pool, and we could park right outside our door. The two room place was spacious, comfortable, and so Italian! Our private back area was charming and so cool and lovely. The place doesn't have AC and there was a bit of a heat wave going on, but don't let that put you off. The walls are almost 2 feet thick! It stayed at a perfect temperature day and night. The place is only a few kilometers from the greatest little friendly town too. Wine and olive oil tours nearby. We had a car, and recommend you drive there; you are way out in the Italian countryside!
We would recommend this place to anyone. Citte and Ed Cree

Was here for a friend's wedding including staying a few nights. All I can say is, wow, what an experience. It's full of rich history and a short drive away from the sites in Tuscany and stone's throw away from Siena. The tranquility and peacefulness of this place is unmatched. When you think of Tuscany, this place no doubt comes to mind. I can imagine myself staying here with my wife in the future as a vacation rental.

One of my favorite places on this planet!! Great location, wonderful breakfasts and views. Convenient location. We were able to easily navigate to Sienna and Florence from the castle. Cant wait to go back. We stayed in the Frattatoria with annex. We were a party of 5 adults. Very pet friendly.

Beautiful old castle (original construction began before 1000 AD), centrally located (just 20 minutes east of Siena). Friendly owner and staff. Rooms are simple but comfortable, and each has small kitchens. Nice pool helps to cool off after warm day touring Tuscan countryside.

Our family of five from Los Altos, CA stayed in the castle from August 1-August 8th 2015.

Castello di Montalto was first built around 850 AD, with first written record/mention of the castle in 1150. I learned this from Diana, the owner of the Castle where she invited all the guests of the castle for tea in her private quarters on the second day of our arrival. She told us the history, the ups and downs of the castle, it's owners and and her own story of how she and her husband Giovani came to own the castle. Her apartment is full of weapons found around the ruins of the castle, and to my amateur eyes looked extensive and authentic. It's like walking into a weapons museum. Dinner under the stars (you sign up in advance and pay extra for this) in the courtyard--the food, the company, the setting--all were amazing.

The castle has a pool, a game room (ping-pong), lawn bowling, tennis court and other distractions, but the best part of staying here is to explore the surrounding woods and creek. There are ancient Roman ruins and some Etruscan ruins here too (I've been told). Kids took a walk down to the creek one afternoon, walked to the stables and the farm house, and then spent time catching tadpoles and playing in the water.

The trip to the castle took place in the middle of our 16 day tour and our kids (ages 10-15) all agreed that the best part of our tour of Italy was being able to stay in the castle. We also got a bonus because our friends stayed in the apartment with the tower--great views and quite an adventure if you can take a peek.

Chiara, the manager of the castle and Diana, the owner (who is originally from Marin County, CA) make the experience of staying at the castle truly remarkable. Chiara and answered all of our questions about where to go, where to eat, what to do and on and on. Chiara is also an expert on truffles and helped us find a really good restaurant with exceptional truffle pasta 10 minutes from the castle.

We signed up for an excellent breakfast of locally produced hams, cheeses, baked goods, yogurts, various breads, pastries and jams. Be sure to chat with Chiara and pump her for information on the local area and she can make arrangments for all that you need. The castle also produces it's own honey and olive oil, and also brings in wine from their family vineyard.

A word. If you cannot tolerate the heat, best to stay away from the castle during the hot months of August and visit instead when the weather is cooler. It was quite hot during our stay as all of Europe was experiencing a heat wave. Being an old castle, it does not have air conditioning. They do provide a fan, but can be inadequate during the hottest days and nights.

A unique & beautiful base for a Tuscan vacation

Stayed here with another couple in La Fattoria - two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen & sitting room - & it was ideal, plenty of room for 4 adults. The whole property is stunning but at the same time very homelike, & the pool especially welcome during a long hot summer week! Very close to Siena & the hill towns of Tuscany if you want to sightsee, & a beautiful place to relax if you need a break from the tourist round. Chiara, the manager, is very helpful & happy to book tours, excursions & reservations at local restaurants. We look forward to returning!

What a gorgeous and gracious place. From the smell of the orange oil tree to the lichen covered stone in the alleys between the buildings. Cinghale on the roads at night. Long walks in the woods, bocce and prosecco, great local wines and trips to Sienna for Saturday night walkabouts. Heaven on earth.
