Top place to visit in Lake Maggiore. Its 20euro per person but accessing the palace and gardens are a must. Beautiful sights.

If you like stately homes you will not be disappointed. However never knew such a thing as a white peacock. Worth a visit just for that

We visited Isalo Bella and the Palace, including the garden. We paid 20 euro entrance. 📸. Also a lot of restaurants for a good lunch. There are many boots that can bring you from Stresa to the Island.

Incredible house and garden, very hard to ever surpass given its water views, history and size. I went mid May and every plant was in beautiful bloom and so perfectly maintained. The house is incredibly beautiful

Very nice place and gardens. Three minutes cruise from the main land. Small stores and restaurants.

Is a very beautiful place. Quite small and the only thing to do is go to the palazzo or eat a gelato, however very much recommended. If you enter the palazzo (20 euro) I recommend to going early and go straight to the garden for very nice pictures because is very crowded place. (Do ask if you can still go back to the gallery).
I also recommend buying a 28 euro package ticket to the Isola Madre and Isola Bella gardens! Don’t miss this!

Beautiful lake, with three islands, which you can arrive only with boat. Price of boat ride isn't expensive too much. But islands are very interesting and two of them are really beautiful. It's like you entered in 18th century, so magical. People are very kind and I can say it's not that expensive in restaurants and bars. City is small, train station is 10 min from center and when you come near the lake, you have a long walk way street, full of parks, bars and places to rest after long walk. On the other side of the street you have bunch of hotels, very very beautiful and, I suppose, very very expensive. But you can find hotels with moderate prices also. All in all, this is the second time I've been there and I will go at least one more time. Strongly recommendation, haven on earth!

One of the most beautiful places I had the chance to visit!
The villa is stunning inside and out, the majestic white peacocks add so much charm to this place, there's a great view of Lake Maggiore from all around that little island.

Like its name, It's an amazing island! There were different kind of flowers, but my favourites were tulips. Also the palace was rich and full of original furniture about that time.

Isola Bella (lit. 'beautiful island') is one of the Borromean Islands of Lago Maggiore in north Italy. The island is situated in the Borromean Gulf 400 metres from the lakeside town of Stresa. Isola Bella is 320 metres long by 400 metres wide and is divided between the Palace, its Italianate garden, and a small fishing village. Isola Bella is a popular tourist attraction, with a regular ferry service from Stresa, Laveno, Pallanza and Intra. It plays host to the annual Stresa music festival. The island achieved its highest level of social success during the period of Giberto V Borromeo (1751–1837) when guests included Edward Gibbon, Napoleon and his wife Joséphine de Beauharnais, and Caroline of Brunswick, the Princess of Wales. It is said that Caroline, having fallen in love with the place, did her best to convince the Borromeo family to sell her Isola Madre or the Castelli di Cannero islands; her request being turned down, she established herself on the banks of Lake Como at Cernobbio in the Villa d’Este.

This island is definitely worth a visit. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I would not believe it. These princes have created an environment here which is not to be surpassed in decadence. The ultimate highlight are of course the free running white peacocks which are always making funny noises.

It is relatively easy to get to Stresa by train from Milan. From Stresa Station you have to walk some dangerous roads to the boat, but you can get on the boat very comfortably on this island. The island is made up of gardens, museums and many shops and restaurants, so it's good to see every corner. However, to see the gardens you must purchase some expensive museum tickets. However, you will be able to spend a relaxing time here, watching the magnificent gardens, statues and lake scenery. It is a good place to return to Milan on a half day basis, and you have to get on the ship, taking into account the return train time.
