We went there because of the good reviews but I have to mention that after travelling Italy for last 15 days , this has been probably one of the nicest restaurants we have been too. The attention to detail and the customer care was at peak . We have a daughter and this is the first place she was offered a cushion to sit on ( she is big for a kids chair but not tall enough for adult chairs) . They actually came 3-4 times to check on us and to see if we liked our food. Again something I didn’t see happen often and we visited quite nice and fairly expensive places around Italy . Food was simple but high quality . They were happy to recommend and offer us what they have in the kitchen . The host ( Antonio- I think) is lovely and truly is a great host . I saw people waiting to get in before the restaurant even opened . Highly recommended place is you are Montalcino.

This is the best restaurant of our whole trip. The food is AMAZING and we loved it so much! We took the lasagne, tortellini and the ragu. We can recommend it all. Very authentic, very affordable 🥰

Only improvement is the female waiter (young girl) who honestly came off a little rude during our stay with only small replies, no smiles, sounding annoyed by tourists and by her job.

One of our most memorable dinners of the trip in Italy! Small cosy restaurant so best to call for bookings in advance. We were served by the owner himself who was very friendly and kind. Food was delightful with comforting warm flavours, with generous portions. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice dinner spot in Montalcino

This is hands down my favorite Italian restaurant ever! The food, vibe, and service is just so authentic. The Pinci with Wildboar Ragu was so good I ate two of them!! Definetly needed to come back here again.

Wow. That’s all I have to say :)
Best lasagna of my life. Brunello di Montalcino (the wine this region is famous for), is a must-try. Grazie mille for this experience!

Everything was 5 stars.

Location is really nice, in the heart of Montalcino. The decor is very authentic and traditional.

The service was impecable, the owner is really friendly and they also have english menus. Waiting time was very short.

The food was really really great, we had pasta with porcini and pasta with wildboar ragu (it is a must try, among the best pasta dishes we ever tried)

We paid 45 euros for 2 persons (plate of bruschetta, 2 pasta dishes, water and 2 espresso)

Highly recommend!

Great little restaurant with typical local food and a very good wine list. The owner knows his wines and his recommendations were spot on. The food was also very good. Highly recommended

Fantastico! Small family run ristorante. Excellent food, genuine local dishes, wonderful service, great value for the money. Would go out of my way to eat here again in a heartbeat. Wild boar stew and rabbit salad. Yum!

Great Italian food. Here you can enjoy true Italian food quality. I've been to Italy so many times, that I can't count. Nowadays, a lot of places are being super touristic and offer very poor Italian food and service. However, here you can taste the Italy.

Simply phenomenal quality! The lasagna was one of the best I have ever had. The wine was amazing. Everyone in our 10 person party was blown away with how delicious our meals with. A local told us this was the best restaurant in Montalcino and he was right. This needs to be added to your list!

Food was good, especially the ribolita wow so hearty and tasty.

The Porcini Lasagna was interesting, would prefer slightly more salty. But thats just personal preference.

The best meal we have ever had in our lives… I wish we could relive this meal 1,000 times over. This restaurant was recommended by many, but we did not expect to be this impressed! Antonio (the owner) attended to each table with exquisite kindness and wonderful wine recommendations. I cannot stress enough how amazing our experience and meal was. We will most definitely return on our next trip to Montalcino!

Though I was dining solo and the restaurant was busy, the owner and his staff (daughter?) welcomed me very warmly and could not have been more pleasant and gracious throughout my meal.

The owner's wine recommendation was excellent, The cuisine was very traditional Tuscan fare expertly prepared. The Cinghiale would have benefited from a little more tenderness, but was nonetheless quite delicious with a polenta cake. The broccoli souffle' was scrumptious. The pasta was beautiful. The tiramisu was quite good. I enjoyed a very satisfying meal, and would not hesitate to return.

Because he had after initially seating me very graciously inquired whether I might move to a two-top elsewhere in the room (so he might use the table at which I was originally seated to form a four-top to accommodate a larger party), the owner generously knocked 10 Euros off my bill as a concession. What a complete gentleman! I would eat at Re Macchia weekly if I didn't live 10,000 km away!

Lovely little family restaurant with the usual dishes from the area plus a couple of other dishes for variation. We shared a rabbit salad for entree and had the Wild bore stew and Duck secundies. A glass of the local wines each was all we needed, but there is a wide range of bottles available from the local area.

This was the perfect restaurant for us. I don’t often write reviews but this one truly earned one…

We were very impressed with the attention to allergies. We had several people with celiac restrictions and found that the host was very accommodating and had plenty of gluten free options. Likewise in the case of allergies to lactose. There is a system with letters to designate known allergens in each dish and the server sas very helpful in presenting us with the proper options.

All seven of us really enjoyed our meals and recommend this to anyone who is interested in a variety of authentic, traditional dishes.

There were several language options on the menu, such as English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean.

This is an excellent restaurant which I highly recommend if you’re in or around Montalcino.

We had a simply superb meal here. Everything about the experience was wonderful, the food, the characterful hospitality of the host, Antonio, who was great fun and super generous, looking after us brilliantly. I had the Bistecca Fiorentina, absolutely wonderful and so much in it that you could share it between three people. My wife and daughter had pasta dishes - which were spectacular. To finish off, we all shared a vin santo with chocolate parfait and cantuccini, as well as a crème brûlée which was served flambéed with alcohol. If you visit Montalcino, drop by to see Antonio and Roberta. You will not regret it!!
