Hotel Alpina

We came to Champex Lac from La Fouly while doing the Tour du Mont Blanc. Hotel Alpina is a Fabulous hotel! An absolute gem! The hosts were welcoming and friendly. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The food was superb. Dinner was a multi course affair with each course looking like a piece of art and tasting spectacular. One of us is a vegetarian and one a pescatarian. These food choices were dutifully taken into consideration. I would highly recommend Hotel Alpina - especially if you are doing the TMB.

Really enjoyed our time in Zermatt. This hotel was convenient and easy to access. Was enough off the beaten path to be quiet in a town full of visitors.

Just wrapped up a cozy stay at Hotel Alpina in Zermatt with my dad, and it was everything we needed for our adventure. We snagged a room with two twin beds, which was perfect for us. The bathroom setup was solid too. It wasn’t the newest you’d find in town, but considering it was a third of the price, it was a total win for us.

Heads up to my fellow tea and coffee lovers: there’s no microwave or kettle in the room, so plan your morning brews accordingly. We learned that the hard way on an early start day when Zermatt was still asleep till 8 AM. A little stash of snacks and cold drinks saved the day, so definitely pack some essentials.

The beds were comfy (though, hey, a fluffier pillow wouldn’t hurt), and yes, the walls are on the thinner side. A pair of earplugs might be your best buddy if you’re a light sleeper. The TV was a chill addition for winding down at night, and our room came with a balcony too. It was shared with the next unit over but had a dividing wall, so no awkward moments there.

All in all, if you’re after a spot that’s easy on the wallet and still comfy for crashing after a day of exploring, Hotel Alpina’s got you. It’s not the high-end spa and modern room vibe—those spots are around, but get ready to splurge, it’s Switzerland after all. Location-wise, we couldn’t ask for better. Right in the heart of Zermatt, making everything super accessible.

Would I stay again? For sure, especially when keeping things budget-friendly is the game plan.

Cosy triple room. Breakfast is at the nearby hotel. The hotel is walkable distance from the train station.

The hotel is nice, they took good care of me , everyone is friendly would come again :)

What i liked: Good central location; short walk to Migros, shopping streets and Zermatt train station. Modern and comfortable shower. Sparkling water was provided in the room which was a nice touch.

What i disliked:
Lights in the room were a little dim. Toilet light was not working! (I made sure to shower before dark)
There was a brief power outage on my first evening there. [Period of stay: late July 2023]
The hotel location was tucked away from main street and was tricky to locate. Check-in was actually at an adjacent hotel (which was closer to the main street) - this could be better communicated beforehand.

The balcony attached to my room is actually a COMMON CORRIDOR, ie my neighbours could actually walk right past outside the room, and vice versa.

Nonetheless, great value overall.

I highly recommend Hotel Alpina. The style is typically Swiss, with a beautiful view from the balcony. The rooms are very comfortable, excellent bed, good heating and well equipped bathroom. The location is close to the train station and in the heart of the city. The price is fair considering the city average. Breakfast is fantastic. Great option in Zermatt!

Hotel alpina was a steal deal at the very end. The location was great, nice balcony with view of the mountains and the town . The breakfast was really nice. Staff was polite , the entrance is a bit tricky to find but overall great place. Might stay again.

I had a lovely stay here at Hotel Alpina. My room was very nice and clean, had my own bathroom, and a balcony with a view of the Matterhorn. I hurt my knee skiing and the staff was so nice and helpful and one of them even walked me to the pharmacy so that I could get a knee brace. Coffee every morning in my room was lovely as was the breakfast downstairs. It was so nice waking up every morning to the smell of freshly baking bread. The location is somewhat of an easy walk from the train station. Only thing that was difficult was the wifi- especially when trying to get directions or make a reservation for dinner. I would definitely stay here again if I’m in Zermatt.

Absolutely cute and typical traditional alpine style hotel. Incredibly hospitality in the well appointed rooms with Nespresso style coffee maker, complimentary water, luxury toiletries, comfy beds, fluffy towels and an ample.varied breakfast at.their sister hotel.
Supermarkets are near the station..
Coop, Migros and a bigger one near the campground. Space for your picnic in their cute garden in case you don't want to eat in the rather pricey Zermatt restaurants.
There is also a time capsule lounge to relax in.
Absolutely recommended 100%... A short walk from the station.

We stayed two nights in Hotel Tannenhof. Our booking was with Alpina hotel, but we were upgraded to the new hotel next to it, Tannenholf. Hotel is completely new, and the room is modern and very well equipped. Big and comfortable bed, big TV and spacious bathroom. It was really nice to have a Espresso machine in the room. Breakfast was great and staff are very friendly. We also dined in the hotel restaurant, Golden LokDown, and the food was fantastic. Hotel is very central, less than 5 min walk from Train station.

If you’re anything like us and have spent hours browsing property after property wondering where to book in Zermatt - then absolutely book Hotel Alpina. Great value for money. Everything was spotless and the breakfast was amazing - so much choice. The staff could not have been more friendly and luggage and ski storage was so easy. There’s a ski room at the bottom of the hotel where you can leave your ski equipment or luggage and collect on your own accord. The location was perfect - just off the main high street and near to Skiset, where we hired our equipment. Look out for side alley signs to the hotel which let you cut through to the property quicker than walking all the way around. A very short walk from the station too.

Great location, fair price for the room, very clean, friendly staff, amazing breakfast, awesome lounge area where you can work or eat, great decks on the room, convenient ski storage, close to train station and restaurants, well lit path to get back at night. 10/10 would stay here again!

Nice and clean rooms. Amazing breakfast and friendly staff. Some things to note - Reception is closed after 7pm. Walking directions in google maps is wrong. Need to take a left turn at the Matterhorn Museum and then take the first left to spot the hotel!

Clean and simple hotel for a night in Zermatt. Easy access from the train station. Service was better than we expected. Rooms are a little small but big enough to just crash for the night.

Nice add on is the little lounge area by the gardens, nice spot to plop by and wrap up the day.

Friendly staffs. Though you don’t have electric kettle in the room, you can have hot water pot at night or you can help yourself a tea from the lounge throughout the day. Room is very well cleaned. I would like a bit more vegetable such as cucumber, and orange marmalade for breakfast while I liked home made watermelon jam.

My one and only complain is the pillows. A cozy family hotel perfect for resting and enjoying everything Zermatt has to offer. The room, shining clean with an amazing balcony view. Really friendly staff and owners.

Great hoteal, great location, great restaurant, best rate, the greatest thing is this hotel is just a few minutes to kirchbrucke, i was came early then checked in time but they allowed us to drop out luggage and we could strolled around zermatt, the reception was very nice and helpful, will be back for sure
