The Explorean Cozumel All Inclusive

This hotel was absolutely amazing and so were the staff. Here are some great details:
-you have privacy at your own hotel pool and some quiet away from the larger hotel
-free daily excursions with the most amazing guides
-AMAZING and delicious food at all the restaurants
-a beautiful water front. There isn't really a beach, but that's how most hotels on the island are
-transparent pricing and no demands for tips
-a little basket with coffee, juice, and pastries every morning at your door for if you're too busy to grab breakfast
-amazing rooms (no TVs, which was a plus for us)

my only complaints:
-I wish the hotel pools were open later (there's really nothing to do after 9pm, and everything is completely closed by 10pm)
-parents aren't held accountable for their children, who often run around loudly even in the more quiet Explorean area, disturbing guests
-the hotel staff don't remove towels from chairs/beds after guests have left the pool/beach, so you don't know they're available
-they regularly run out of towels at the beach and main pool

This place is beautiful. Yes there could be upgrades to the pool tiles but it's not a big deal. I'd rather have the pool then not. The jungle vibe is to die for. You are directly connected to the fiesta. I'm not sure, what other people are complaining about. It takes long to walk from my room to the Explorean restaurant then to the fiesta. Access to both as been amazing. The beach club is unmatched with bunny pads right over the ocean, cabanas a small pool, Access to the ocean and service is impeccable. We have been starting at the beach, then the fiesta pool then back to the Explorean pool. There were so many mixed reviews we were nervous, but 10/10 would come back easily. They are constantly cleaning up leaves and debris that fall, I almost feel bad because it never ends but what else can you expect in a true jungle hotel. The room is large, peaceful and quiet view from the balcony. I don't have a single bad thing to say. The customer service is phenomenal, they remember you and your preferences for even the simplest thing. We had an amazing time our second time to the island in a different resort.

Let me begin my rave review with the service. The people on the island of Cozumel are SOOO nice. The people we encountered in the airport, the people at the resort, housekeepers, everyone in between were crazy nice. It was more than refreshing coming from the States.

The resort was awesome, it was behind la fiesta Americana and we got alllll the amenities from that resort with the Explorean. The Explorean Cozumel offered free excursions, like buggy’s, snorkeling, biking, and more. Apparently the people at Fiesta Americana didn’t have that included, so we really lucked out with them being included.

The food and drink was good, small selections at the Explorean, they have one restaurant and one main bar, which closes relatively early, we were back in our rooms by like 1030 or 11 because they stopped serving and the pools closed.

Absolutely bring bug spray and extra sunscreen, it’s hard to access a convenience store without a car and the onsite convenience store is obviously price hiked.

This was my first experience at Explorean. I have to say it was an incredible experience and I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the grounds were along with easy access to the pristine water. Everyone was so friendly and the daily included adventures were amazing! The staff knew my name and I cannot say enough about the hospitality. The Italian restaurant is EXCEPTIONAL! The wine was perfectly balanced. The snorkeling by the pier next to the hotel had hundreds of fish to view and the visabilty was over 100 feet. At one point I was engulfed by angel fish and felt incredibly connected to the ocean. I will return. Thank you for a healing and relaxing environment.

Exceptional staff. Julio and Nestor are sensational tour guides. The food options and amenities will surpass your expectations. The staff does a really good job of making everyone feel like they are the only guest there

Great people. Good food and drinks. Really nice activities every day. You can also swim and snorkel right in front of the hotel. Very nice room.

I loved this place. Everything was superb, the Lol' can chef was spectacular, and the service really knows what they are hired for.

The only spot, it is the location due to its lack of beach, you can snorkel thought.

Exceptional stay at Explorean Cozumel all inclusive during Ironman Cozumel! The hotel's serene and jungle-like atmosphere provided a perfect pre-race escape. It was extremely quiet and peaceful tucked away from the main road, right behind the Fiesta Americana. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and spacious, and the delicious all inclusive cuisine was exceptional.

I loved the pool and hot tub area. Disappointing to see bad reviews, I didn’t experience anything of the sort and it was a beautiful stay!

Proximity to race events and post-race recovery in the serene surroundings made this a standout choice. Highly recommend for athletes seeking a balanced blend of relaxation and convenience.

There is one main restaurant at the Explorean with delicious options that rotate daily, and there is a buffet and coffee bar that is open early and late.

The best part about the Explorean are the all inclusive activities. There is snorkeling, tours to Chankanaab (which has swimming with dolphins!) bike rides, and so much more. Transportation and drinks are provided with activities.

I can’t recommend enough and I’ll definitely be back!

We had the best experience on our once in a lifetime trip. We were celebrating our anniversary and we were made to feel very special. The staff is exceptional! Francisco was the best waiter, knowledgeable, patient and attentive. The room was beautiful and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. We did not speak Spanish and this was never a problem as most of the staff was bilingual, though we tried to use Spanish words to ask questions or thank them for their help. The host at Fiesta American (the adjoined hotel) was AMAZING!! Alejandra was the most exceptional host we have ever encountered!! She remembered us, even our room number, each day. We loved her amazing attitude and appreciated everything she did for us each night! But the most amazing experience we had was with the tour guides. There were many but Edgar and Julio were by far, over and beyond incredible! Edgar is an amazing soul! Julio also stood out as someone who knows his job and loves helping guide the tours. He took the time to explain aspects of Cozumel culture and life to us. We came to feel like Cozumel is not just a place to come for a vacation, but a place of real people with vibrant lives. There is a beautiful history to the island and the people who interacted with us on the tours like Edgar, Julio, Nestor, Armando and others I cannot recall, they made the experience magical. The island is a stunning place, but it is not as amazing as the people we met. It would not have been the same experience without them. We used the spa for a couples massage and it was an incredible experience! The servers, the bartenders, the hosts and hostesses, the concierge, the room attendants, the tour guides, the activities people at the FA pool, the dancers and musicians at the nightly shows! All of these things made our experience unforgettable.

Great all inclusive that focuses on experiences. Beach is with fiesta americana. Took a 10 mile bike ride as one excercision Food good. Buffet for breakfast was excellent as long as you did the eggs cooed to order. Pasties only fair. The restaurant at the explorian was way better than the Italian restaurant at fiesta. The experience’s made the difference

My family and I came here. Literally the best! Everyone there was so friendly and nice. We had a great time! Our rooms was cleaned everyday and they had excursions planned each day, but we didn't want to do any that they had, so we booked a few of our own at the fiesta Americana resort. We loved going to the pool there and the food was great. We felt very taken care of. We did run into a little issue on our last night, the AC went out but they were able to fix it! I can't say anything but great things about the hospitality here! I highly recommend this resort!

We enjoyed our time at the Explorean. The staff was wonderful. Julio, Armando and Nestor made each of the excursions fun and educational. The rooms were great; very clean and lovely. The restaurant was very nice as well. Manuel and Claudia took great care of us when we dined there.

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Explorean for 5 days/6 nights and had a fantastic time! The hotel sits behind the partner resort, the Fiesta Americana. This makes for a quiet, tropical getaway.

The highlight of this resort is the included daily activities. During our stay we were able to ride bikes to the local beach/amusement park, drive dune buggies, and went snorkeling at El Cielo. The activities team (Julio, Edgar, Luis, Jair) were so informative, helpful, and (most importantly) fun!

The dining was also great. While the Explorean has their own bar and restaurant, guests are able to dine and use the amenities at the Fiesta Americana, which was a quick 2 minute walk. There are plenty of options with the buffet open most hours of the day, as well as rotating specialty restaurants for lunch/dinner. I want to give a special shout-out to Arturo, Alejandra, and Javier from the dining services team. We were scheduled to have a private, rooftop dinner for our anniversary. However, it was pouring rain that day. The team was able to reschedule our dinner and went out of their way to communicate changes and accommodate us so that we were still able to enjoy our delicious dinner the next night.

We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment (light show, fire show, karaoke). Outside of the planned activities and entertainment, we enjoyed spending time in both the Explorean and Fiesta Americana pools.

All in all, we had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for an adventurous, but relaxing, vacation!

Beautiful place to have some vacations, you can use the fiesta americana facilities as well. Food is delicious, all the employees Ara friendly and helpful. Lucio was our concierge, he is amazing! We enjoyed our stay so much!! Do not hesitate on staying at the explorean. Cost/benefits is extremely nice.

Loved staying here! The regular rooms are huge, beds are comfy and they pamper to every need! From housekeeping to the concierge to the waiters they knew me by name and I only stayed two nights. In the morning they even leave a basket with coffee and orange juice so you don’t have to walk to get breakfast if you want to get up late! Also you get all access to the fiesta Americana next door, including beach, restaurants, and spa. I really couldn’t have asked for more!!!! Also, full fridge refilled daily at no additional cost! I don’t want to go home ! Away from the madness of central Cozumel

This was a great and relaxing stay. The chill vibe of pool & lounge area were exactly what we were looking for. We also attended a couple of the included excursions when we wanted to get out. Don’t miss the snorkeling trip, we got to swim next to sea turtles, families of sting rays and saw a ton of starfish. Sometimes you just have to get lucky on those trips.

There are tons of sea creatures to see right off the beach in front of the hotel and you have the option to hang out at the Fiesta Americana pool as well.

Food at the Explorean Al la Carte restaurant (Lool Kan) was some of the best we’ve had at an all inclusive. The restaurants at the Fiesta Americana were pretty good as well. Service at the Explorean bar and restaurant were exceptional. All the staff from front desk to cleaning staff were great and welcoming. Alfonso and Luis were serving some great drinks at the bar during the day. Try Alfonso’s Mezcalita for a solid cocktail or the Mango Margarita if you want something sweeter. The wait staff including Edgar, Francisco and others were all on point as well.

While the beach bar and restaurants weren’t open during our stay, you have to remember this island was hit pretty hard during Covid and is still recovering. Not all the rooms were full while we were there. It looked like they were doing some updates and improvements out there so I hope it’s open for our next stay.

We will definitely be back.

Wonderful place quieter than the resort, nice escape from the crowds but short walk to larger resort pools and beach front. Staff is amazing and very attentive, food was excellent, rooms are very clean and well maintained. Loved the morning door-side coffee and muffin each day to start the day! Take advantage of the daily activities and excursions with the staff!! Highly recommended!!
