Osiligilai Maasai Lodge

This is one place where everyone who comes to Tanzania needs to visit. It’s the one place that sits just behind the forest so that you have a spectacular view of Kilimanjaro Mountain. The bungalows where you stay are spectacular made by the Maasai women. There are many activities to enjoy but I don’t want to spoil your visit by telling you what they include. William and Josephine who own Osiligilai Maasai Lodge are extremely hospitable people. There are many Maasai employees and are very friendly also always willing to help anyone. The food is especially wonderful and will even bring you tea or coffee in the morning so that you can watch the sunrise if you wish. The way Maasai employees welcome you to their environment isn’t only unique but very vibrant ‼
The special thing about William and Josephine is that they continually give back to their people. They purchased and installed 152 solar panels so that many bungalows could have heat and light 💡. They also invite the Maasai women to come and sell their intricate beaded jewelry and many other items then the money goes directly to the Maasai women. This is definitely one place that needs to be in your bucket list 🎈👍🏽

Osiligilai is one of the most beautiful places we've ever been and experience the real and pure African culture from Maasai people, from the way we’re welcomed by William the Managing Director and his team the way they were dancing for us and their smile this was the big impression for us, We can’t forget when one of the maasai staff gave us a brief that we are already at Maasai land therefore we’ve to drink a cow blood OMG everybody was astonished but when we tasted was hibiscus juice hahaha great creativity.

We stayed there for one night which was not enough to enjoy the place and do many activities conducted there, at least you should have 2-3 days we end up on visiting Maasai Boma, nature walk in the morning with the Maasai which was good having enough time to learn more about maasai traditions and daily life, we had a good time during camp fire in the night and having local BBQ and natural soup which was so amazing and we had dancing during sunset.

The location of the lodge is super because of being at the middle part of two big mountains which are Kilimanjaro and Meru thus during sunrise and sunset you can spot beautiful mountain peaks clear when there is no clouds covered, expect to experience the African massage due to the rough and dust road approximately 12 km after the main tarmac road goes to Lemosho gate.

Huts are spacious are very different from real Maasai villages in terms of comfort but equip with all necessary amenities just to make the experience better for comfort staying, rooms are very clean, hot shower, charge the phone due to solar power.
We highly recommend this lodge for its nature location and the Maasai culture experience, indeed is a little piece of heaven.

In the name of Tumbili Voayages & Safaris, I've been visiting the place last week and can't believe what I saw there. If you want to experience the genuine Maasai culture but have the advantage of a confortable room for night, just book here and be among the supporters of education and health development of the village.
