Oxenfrē Public House

This is located in the middle of a very cool little strip of restaurants and bars. But this was a favorite of mine. I recommend getting the "Fresh Squeezed Margs", but if not, they had a pretty eclectic assortment of beers also.

The chicken and waffles were delicious! Great service even though only 1 bar girl doing it all! Will definately go again next time south from Waldport❤❤

I loved this place.. love thier happy hour menu and drinks! There Margarita's are fresh squeezed and so yummy!!! Wish I was there now!.. the bartender was awesome ..I just wish I could remember her name. Food is fresh and tasty.. I think we went there 3 times on my short visit.

When you walk in it will take your eyes a few minutes to adjust to to the dim lighting. Kind of felt like a speakeasy. Lots of fun touches in the decor like suitcases as bar shelves and old alcohol bottles as candle holders. Pool table, shuffleboard and a big table for card games. Live music on certain nights.

Bar none some of the best food we have ever had! Great flavor, diverse menu and friendly staff. Love that they are a farm to table restaurant, using a lot of local organic ingredients. We only stayed in Brookings for three days and went to eat there two days in a row. Also can't forget the wonderful fresh cocktails! We only live a couple hours away in Humboldt County California and we both have said we would drive up to Brookings just to eat dinner here and then go home it was that good!

This is some seriously gourmet food! The dishes are so extraordinary that I would love to come back all the time. Good thing I don't live in town or I would eat here every day! The prices are fair especially considering the quality of the food. I had this amazing hamburger and my friend had the fish tacos. Unbelievable so good!

Update 2021: Even with all of the pandemic chaos, Ox continues to be excellent! Consistent wonderful food choices! Great bar and friendly staff. So happy that they continue to be open in these trying times!

Oxenfrē Public House in Brookings, Oregon is easily the best and nicest bar in Brookings (which is funny because when they took it over it was an old, seedy dive bar upon which they worked wonders and miracles).

Oxenfrē has a great drink menu and they are super mindful to details. The Ox hearkens to the bygone days of the Prohibition Era speakeasy. It's a moody, hip establishment, open only in the evenings "'til late," with regular, live-entertainment via local and non-local bands. Yes, they have a stage. Also pool tables. And great food! It's a small menu, but absolutely worth your time! You must try their Poutine, their mouth-watering burgers, and if you're feeling extra adventurous, their Bacon Bourbon Milkshakes!

I own and operate Hurry In Curry Delivery Service here in Brookings and we used to do all sorts of food deliveries from Oxenfrē. Sadly, we haven't seen them in quite some time (ever since they switched to the limited menu). However, they still have great food that is definitely worth the delivery fee to have it delivered.

We really need more unique restaurants like this one. Friendly staff, dealing with covid precautions, making incredible mixed drinks and serving up fantastic food that tantalizes the senses! Definitely on the expensive side, but the quality is well worth the price, and the price isn't over the top, especially considering the quality ingredients and preparation. I have a feeling that I will keep coming back to this place for as long as they are open.

We stopped by Oxenfre Pub on our road trip. It was already 8.30pm and everywhere else was closed or about to close, so this was our only option. Thankfully, Oxenfre was happy to cook us food (which was very tasty, & with quick and friendly service), which we greatly appreciated after a long day on the road. It is obviously a local go-to pub, as, while it wasn't full, was buzzing for karaoke night. The music was loud, but we enjoyed the fun atmosphere of the usual wildly varied quality of singing that comes with karaoke (one guy had an incredible voice!). They have pool tables, sofa chairs, & bar stools at high tables. I can imagine frequenting this pub if we lived in Brookings! I don't have photos to post as it was pretty dark in there- too dark for photos.

Our second visit was on a holiday weekend. Much busier but Service and food were still amazing. The Happy hour menu is incredibly flavorful, fresh and inexpensive. The deconstructed BLT was amazing as were the sliders and street tacos. You must have the $2,50 margarita. Amazing and fresh. Love this place.

Amazing! The staff is great, and the food is Ridiculous. Good luck choosing from that menu! But, rest assured that whatever you do end up costing plate-side (sticky wings, swine shrimp and grits 🍤 🥓, fresh Pacific cod tacos 🎏 🌮), it will be so full of flavor that you'll think it's not real. This place is a real find, and I will be back until I've tried everything on the menu.. twice.. at least.

We had the opportunity to eat here back in 2015 as we were passing through. The food selection, as you can see, is amazing and I’m sure that the quality and selection of food has only gotten better since then. I do not recall which local brew I had, but I do remember that was amazing! If you are passing through Brookings then I highly recommend putting this establishment on your short list for dining!

This is one of Brookings' gems. They offer unique food options full of flavor. Not your boring standard fair you can find in most anywhere. Their menu isn't large but they have a range from exciting salads to juicy meat entrees. Beyond that, they also work with local farmers and businesses to get the goods to create their dishes. I love seeing a community working together. That's when truly great things can be accomplished.

Happy Hour for the win!! Amazing deviled eggs, and the best fried pickles I ever had. Wish I didn't live on the other side of the country, because I would love to try more of what this wonderful place has to offer. Great Margarita and Bloody Mary as well!

Just a gem on the coast! Staff were amazing. Food and beer were great. Tons of atmosphere. Just can't say enough good things about this place. Just go, you'll see.

Place gets busy on a Friday Happy Hour. The menu has some unique bites that are well executed. I think the HH food could use a change up since it’s been the same for awhile. Good drinks and selection and food is always served right.
