Rice Bowl

This one is a little hard to rate. The food had excellent flavor. The restaurant itself and the bathrooms were clean, which is really important to me. My only disappointment was the lack of vegetables. I love vegetables you normally get in this type of restaurant. Both my husband and I ordered combination plates, but the only vegetables were a very few sliced onions in the chow main. Also, the batter on the prawns was very dense, and not a light tempura. They do have nice side dishes of vegetables, so if I go back, I would definitely order one of those. The flavor of everything was delicious.

Very good food, large portions, very good service. We really enjoyed ordering two different plates and splitting it up - lots of food and a great variety!

Update (July 2024): bright some of our grandkids here and they loved the food, staff and the fish tank! The staff was very friendly to the five year old twins and kept them busy during the short wait for our food. The food was just as good this time as last and with more people, we were able to try more dishes! Excellent food and service - this will be a priority stop for us each time we are in town. The lemon chicken is incredible - almost to good to be true! We also loved the sweet and sour pork, broccoli beef and cashew chicken.

I don’t live in Brookings anymore, but my husband and I used to go in all the time. The green onion beef is amazing and the lunch combos are very generous with their portions. Every time I stop into Brookings, I go visit Shao (that spelling may be wrong) at the rice bowl. Their egg flower soup is amazing, and now that I’ve moved back to California, I wish I’d asked for the recipe because I’ve never had a better egg flower soup. It’s light, refreshing, perfect amount of egg, tofu, and vegetables.

She always said my husband reminded her of her son, Shawn, and we had so many great conversations with her. It’s women owned and ran, with her and Denise in the front. We always had great service and it was always quick.

This place is a hidden gem in Harbor, just off the 101. The outside looks very plain and you might wonder if they are even open. But around the doorway are beautiful flowers and ferns that welcome you into an amazing restaurant where orchids bloom everywhere, fish swim peacefully, and the food is delicious!
My friends loved the lightly fried salt dried fish and the stir fried fish with black bean sauce, while I had a lunch special of King Pao chicken, fried rice, spring roll, and deep fried prawns. They also have a full bar and a room for small groups.

The food is very good and the service is great and the prices are reasonable,. We were only able to eat half of our food the night we bought it. I got the General Taos Chicken, and my husband got the Mongolian Beef. The General Taos Chicken was the best I've had. I can't wait to go there again.

The owner waited on us . She was friendly and the restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The food was hot and delicious. Lots of flowers inside and out.

The food was high quality and the owner was extremely nice to me and family. I recommend this restaurant any time you are in the area.

Was privileged with dining here for the Chinese New Year (year of the Dragon). Had Kung pao chicken, general tso chicken , Orange chicken and steamed rice, very fresh and delicious.

I rarely take the time to rate a restaurant, but I think this one’s worth it. This place actually stands out. The management and service is heart full and genuine. I actually felt the pride they take in preparing their delicious food. I’ve lived here in town for 5 years and have been to all the other Asian cuisine places. I wasn’t very much impressed with those experiences. I just gave up trying to get good Chinese food in Brookings when all of a sudden I decided to walk into the rice bowl at the last minute. I got perfectly cooked food and left feeling like a fool for not trying it years ago. Who would thought that the last place I tried was the best place of all. I asked a million questions while having dinner. Found out that they don’t use bottled sauces. They make it fresh every day, and u can taste the difference. The portions are fairly large, and the ingredients have been fresh every single time even late at night. I took my time to check the place out. I can honestly say it’s the cleanest restaurant in this entire town. I even peaked in the kitchen, it was spotless, during a busy hour. WOW!! That impressed the heck out of me. It’s definitely my go to spot for Chinese food in this area. If good, honest, hardworking, clean, homemade, great flavors, cooked properly food matters to you, this is the place my friends.

Redecorating was a success and food was very good. The three of us were quite happy.

Was visiting from out of town and was directed to this place as a local favorite. Food was AMAZING, service and owners who actually operate the restaurant were friendly welcoming and ensured that we liked our meal as we were from out of town and wanted to make a good impression. Can't ask for more!

My husband and I, when on a recent trip to Brookings, camped by the beach and found this gem of a place called the Rice Bowl not far from our campsite where we enjoyed a lovely meal in great ambience with some good friends we were visiting. We wholly recommend it and plan a return visit soon.

Best place on the Oregon Coast to eat! Clean and healthy food, not that greasy city Chinese - and large portions! Must have if you’re passing through this little coastal gem of a town.

Located in a cute cottage just off the main drag, this place was a welcome stop after a long day driving down the coast. The dining room was super clean and smartly decorated. The owners /staff were very friendly and welcoming. The service was great and the food was delicious. We had combo plates with orange chicken and Kung Pao chicken...both were great. Highly recommend if you are ever in the area.
