The Railside Bar and Grill

Just out on another adventure, Me and my beautiful sidekick. On this day we decided to pick the rail side in Nelson Illinois. Good choice! My wife had the smothered chicken. With a cherry Bomb blonde draft beer. The chicken was delicious! I had the jumbo shrimp with beef noodle soup And baby whole potatoes. The shrimp was amazing! I would put it right there up with One of the best I've had. Big very big! Yummy! The potatoes weren't too bad either.. And the beef's noodle soup was pretty good too. Bathrooms were super clean. place was clean. service was very good, although the food did take a minute but they were busy. Great environment. So a big thank you to the railside in Nelson Illinois for making me and my wife feel welcome and cooking us a delicious meal. For those of you who read this you will have to try it if you haven't. the railside in Nelson Illinois.

A real unique bar with a great menu. Fun rural/railroad atmosphere. One of those places you're glad you came upon.

Been eating at this place since a kid and it brings life to the Nelson locals, the staff is friendly and treats everyone like family, the owner is always in the establishment always checking in on everyone as well as making sure everyone walks out with a smile, I’ve seen negative reviews and I can say with confidence the people leaving negative reviews are not being honest, you get fresh quality food for a very fair price, this place gets packed sometimes so the wait is a little longer then people expect but everything is being made fresh to order, I have some issues with my orders that have been happening more frequently like my fries being soggy and undercooked or my chicken being tuff and overcooked but it’s not very common but still disappointing other then that I have nothing to complain about, come in with patience and a empty stomach and leave with a full stomach and a smile on your face

Don’t know why I haven’t posted this review sooner; been stopping here for years. Never had a meal come out of the kitchen that was anything less than excellent. Krista & her staff take great care in providing quality food & ensuring every surface is spic & span.

Although no longer living in the area, whenever I return, I always try to make a stop here to say hi & generally get whatever's the daily special. Last time it was the Friday Fish Fry & a bowl of beef noodle with an extra breadstick - yummy. I highly recommend you stop at this location. Thanks Krista, for the great customer service & delicious food.

Tina fired me up the best cheeseburger I've ever had. It's the 1st time in my life I ate a burger without any condiments, it was that good! The bartender server guy is so friendly and makes me a fantastic drink plus never stopped checking on me. I would highly recommend this place for the food, drinks, service and atmosphere. AND there's plenty of free parking and slots and a spacious room you can rent for parties! I'll see you soon Railside. Jennifer Del Prete

One of the best bar and grill places that I have visited. The menu has some very unique items that are absolutely amazing. Everything is incredible and I believe most of it homemade. The staff is extremely efficient and pleasant. Railside is one of those place you drive far to, just for the wonderful food and fun. Bob the owner is completely focused on customer service and food quality. Don't miss stopping here

Fantastic food, great service!! Great atmosphere

Some of the most polite and fantastic wait staff! Great food and drinks. Owner is always happy to meet new people and great old friends. The outdoor area is perfect for drinks and dining and back party room has a private bar restrooms

It has been a long time since I was there, I was not disappointed the food was awesome as always! The chicken Chipotle sandwich is huge and so good and the onion rings were delicious too. My hubby had fried Chicken and it was delicious too!

We stopped to have lunch had the chicken strips and spaghetti- yummy!! And my husband had a grilled gynormous chicken sandwich which was also awesome. This is a really good little spot to eat.

Friendly staff, great food, it seems to be busy every Thursday though that could be every night

Nice busy place we went on a Friday night Fish was the special i had deep fried chicken n my other half had smothered chix both were very good The waitresses were very nice n kept up with our drinks we had a big party n food was quick i give this a 5 * and will definitely return n if u haven't gone you should go well worth it.

Amazing food, the staff is never fatigued or rude no matter how busy and it’s always a good time, again amazing good!!!!

The food is amazing. Great place to go and have a nice dinner or lunch. Tuesday is taco night its very busy out there but its sooo worth it. Thursday chicken and spaghetti. Me and my husband go and we split it thats how much food you get. Fridays are fish saturday prime rib and sunday biscuits and gravy and the bloody mary bar. Its a fun place!

Thursday night the best family style chicken in northern Illinois. Oh and their taco Tuesday is pretty awesome also. The beer is cold the food is hot and Krista and her group of A+ workers are ready to serve you with a smile.

Met some friends for dinner. Able to get a table right away. Fast & friendly service. Food was really good. Large portions.

Great food, great atmosphere. The owner and wait staff are exceptional. If you have not been, you must put it on your to do list.

I had a Swiss and mushroom hamburger with mash potatoes my brother had the steak sandwich with mash potatoes The ladies where nice the food was great I will eat there again there soups are great as well
