Really nice brunch spot with a great atmosphere and vibe. Tons of outdoor seating for large groups and smaller tables inside. An amazing bakery attached with great coffee as well. Loved the pork schnitzel! Breakfast items also looked delicious. This is a perfect place for an informal get together or hangout with family members or friends. Ordering is done at a counter and food is brought to you, but there is not table service. Dog friendly. It’s the type of place you want to go have a beer and some schnitzel at after mowing the grass.

Great food and vibes! I was pleasantly suprised to see multiple well-thought out vegan options on the menu, including some sweet treats! The cafe also has a nice breezy vibe and lots of seating. It is quite a busy place, but for good reason.

Good food. Great venue.

I've been here for brunch a few times and will try to get by whenever I'm near. It has a reasonable selection of German plates and a lot of pastries.

The food is good. The eggs are scrambled soft, like they should be. The sausage is a tender weiswurst. The bacon is a bit tough and chewy. My family had pastries that they loved. The fries vary but are somewhere between very good and great.

The service is fast-casual. The line to order goes quickly. The food seldom comes out all at once.

The venue is wonderful. The seating is diverse. It's an outdoorsy court with lots of shade. There are regular tables and picnic tables. It has a relaxing feel the somehow feels less crowded than it looks.

If it's a sunny day and you like German food, this is hard to beat.

Perfect brunch place. We ordered the farmer's omelette and the tofu sandwich. Both were delicious and copious amounts. You have to stand in a queue and wait for your turn to order at the window before you seat yourself. There's also more seating indoors, along with a bakery inside though I love the outdoor space. The parking has been extended so it isn't that hard to find a spot even when crowded. Coffee is a must if you're a caffeine addict like me 😅

We are regulars here, and can honestly say we are never disappointed!! Amazing atmosphere, very dog friendly, plenty of seating, and incredible food. We come here so often because we always leave super happy. Dinner options are beyond delicious (I always get the schnitzel with spatzle) and desserts are fresh with lots of variety. My favorite restaurant in Durham!

Absolutely incredible place with great atmosphere inside and out! With spacious outside seating and the bakery adjacent. I didnt have to wait long at all even with them being fairly busy. I got the reuben and it was delicious, also got a cream puff and banana muffin from the bakery everything was fresh. It's rare a place strikes all the right chords with me it was an absolute treat.

I always enjoy brunch at Guglhupf because it is a very cute cafe. It is on the pricier side since they mostly locally source ingredients. You do have to order at a kiosk before you can seat yourself so there are no waiters. The food is alright and they present it nicely. Overall, good if you want a cute place for pictures and outdoor seating. Their bakery is also my favorite!!

Very authentic place! Nothing like it in the area. Great food and service and plenty of seating. Can get a bit busy on the weekends, so just be ready to wait in line. It’s super well run and I love the little bakery off to the side. Beautiful outside and inside!!

I came to Durham to take care of her dog Chacha for my daughter and came from Chicago, where we have some of the best restaurants in the world. I give Guglhupf five stars. On Thursday, I ordered the flounder with mashed potatoes and the apricot muse with a German beer, which was excellent. The server always finds my table, and the food comes promptly. I love that it is dog-friendly, and Chacha can say hello to everyone on the lovely, ample patio. Just be sure to go at 4 PM before the crowds for dinner and skip Sundays because the lines are too long. Superior bread made in-house.

We went to this restaurant/cafe arriving around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday after Thanksgiving, and I had to wait about 5 minutes for someone to open up a parking spot. There is a bakery, cafe, and a restaurant. The restaurant has a line for which you can order actual food. Otherwise for bakery items and coffee, you could just order those without waiting in line. We got the gingerbread latte, the artichoke and feta pastry, the pumpkin pastry, and the cream cheese pastry. These are all wonderful (8/10), light and flaky, not overly rich, and not overly sweet. Prices were about $5 per piece, and the coffee was $6 each. We got three to share among two people. You may sit anywhere in the restaurant area no matter what you get, so we went upstairs in the inside area. The staff are very friendly and available. The atmosphere, style, and decorations are lovely and European, warm and industrial and natural too. They do have some Christmas decorations too. Service I don't have much to comment, because we went to the bakery and the cafe separate from the restaurant. Nice place for chats over breakfast or brunch.

Amanda at Guglhupf was wonderful providing a cake for our wedding! They provided the best tasting we had tried in the Triangle and we were glad that we found them. We could tell right away that their cakes used real, fresh ingredients that brought high-impact yet natural flavors. After making our selections, they provided an elegant and delicious cake for us to enjoy on our wedding day that our guests really loved. The service was excellent and we felt good supporting them as a business. We would highly recommend Guglhupf for wedding cakes!

11/10 place to go for brunch with family and friends. The outside seating is wonderful during the spring/summer. I haven’t visited in the winter but I’m sure the food and service are spectacular all year round!

Great spot for brunch, love the outdoor/indoor atmosphere. Plenty of heaters to keep you warm if you decide to eat outside as well. Food was all great, plates are big and quality was fantastic. Great espresso beverages too. Honestly great value for the price.

My friends… get the cheese danish.

I come here early on the weekends and it is *chefs kiss*! They also allow dogs in the outdoor patio area which is amazing. Inside and outside are beautiful.

Stopped in for brunch at the restaurant and checked out the bakery as well. The brunch was awesome and served very quickly! The items in the bakery were very high quality. Staff was friendly and even had a couple kids there offering lemonade. All in all a great experience!

Amazing place for brunch! We went on Saturday afternoon and it was crazy busy but it really didn’t take long to get through the line and get our food, you might just have to park a little down the road. The potato leek tart was outstanding.

We got coffees and brunch. Service was fast, they brought out the coffees almost immediately, so we could sip while waiting on the food. Pastries were to die for. The food was wonderful and good portions. Would come here every week if possible.
