Café Rumi

Rumi is as good as it gets around here. Coffees are great and the food is great. My family lives coming here too. I brought my cousins here and they loved it as well. My kids love the smoothies. Smaller place, but all of the patrons are deep in their converatiin and enjoying their time at Cafe Rumi. I hope to come here for years to come.

A hidden treasure in Castro Valley!

Cafe Rumi is a wonderful little spot with a charming and harmonious atmosphere. Arrived expecting a 'typical' cafe, and instead I stepped into a dream world. The Moroccan Mint tea is AMAZING, the seating adds to the charm, and the music playing in the background is out of a fantasy. I wish this was closer to where I live; I would come here every day!

I like their food. I've been going there since 2013. Food is ok. Small place but they have a good selection of meals.
My only complaint is they don't have good ventilation . Overall a nice place

What can I NOT say about this cafe! It gives me Central Perk (from Friends) vibe with a twist! The staff is extremely friendly the food and drinks are delicious and unique. Looking for a local, friendly cafe to cowork? Cafe Rumi is your place! Wifi is available upon request and the overall vibes are chill. My favs - Belgian waffle with banana. Don’t leave without getting the pink chai 💕 it’s a must!

Totally unexpected surprise! Went there out of curiosity because I remember reading poetry from Rumi back in college. I got the Rumi egg sandwich which came on a pita with this amazing garlic pepper aïoli and the egg was so fluffy and delightful! It has gyro/shawarma meat and the overall combination just made my taste buds sing. I definitely needed the calories for biking through the canyon over to San Ramon. Breakfast of champions!

Support small businesses!! Cafe Rumi was a great find after a work call. I had a great gyros sandwich (always a favorite), a cool strawberry smoothie but the best thing was a pudding they've introduced. It was incredible! A rose water flavored cream with sliced almonds and little noodles (!) which was just fantastic. Subtlety sweet and creamy with the different textures was just awesome. These ladies earned a solid 5 stars from me!

Amazing Pink Chai !! Only complaint is that food is served in to go containers even for dine in. Great food otherwise.

We were in the area visiting family and found Cafe Rumi on Goggle. We asked the associate at the register what was good. She gave my husband and me some suggestions and we went with the beef/lamb gyro and a saffron chicken platter. They were both amazing! And the pink chai she suggested was perfect! She was very friendly and made great suggestions! Maybe we’ll stop back by before heading back to Texas!

Its tradition every year for us to get a Nutella hot chocolate after finding our Christmas tree :) We didn't get to enjoy drinking it inside the Cafe this year, but we made it work sitting in the car listening to Christmas music. Thanks for being part of our tradition! (The lavender latte is very good, too.)

Full food and coffee joint in an area that doesn't have many other amenities/food places. I grabbed a coffee and a gyro, and spent all day here on wifi. Cool little local place. Nothing earth-shattering, but tasty!

Best breakfast burrito I've ever had, seriously! Excellent flavor and not greasy like they usually are most places. I'm not from the area, but I have family here so I will come back next time I visit.

What a sweet cafe! Got the pink chai which was made perfectly as well as a breakfast sandwich. A great little halal spot in the suburbs of San Francisco. Also great spot to stop at if you’re driving south. I would definitely love to try the gyro sandwich as it looked delicious!

A truly special little coffee shop and Mediterranean restaurant. Everything we had was excellent and inexpensive. The pink chai latte is very sweet and not for everyone.

A comfortable coffee house in the old fashioned way, intimate, friendly and well attended, serving a good lox and bagel, spicy hot chi and fine gyros with delicious lamb, beef and tomato filling.

By far the best neighborhood cafe I’ve ever had. Pink Chi is a must. Iced or cold are both amazing. Saffron chicken platter, also amazing. So flavorful, it’s my favorite dish there. We stop by almost weekly, either a pink chi with a bagel and cream cheese after visiting the dog park. Or random lunches when I get to work from home.
You won’t regret stopping by and ordering anything they have on the menu.

A gem of Castro Valley, with a wonderful combination of excellent drinks and food. Great for anyone looking for a neighborhood cafe, or wanting a light but fulfilling meal in the morning.

If you get the gyro I do recommend grabbing some extra napkins before you chow down--you Will spill. Gyro plate if you want a less delicious mess. Enjoy the atmosphere!

This place is really one of my fav little, cozy, yummy spots. The strawberry smoothie and Mediterranean chicken salad are absolutely delicious!!! So is their breakfast sandwich, which you can get up to 1pm. 🎉

Also the lady who runs it most of the time, not the owner but her employee, is sooooooooo sweet, and has the best customer service!!!

Such a unique little coffee shop! They do a great job of serving coffee and foods that people in the U.S. would want/like while also offering several Turkish options. It was so fun to be able to try new flavors and stuff not normally found in a coffee shop! It's not always easy to make a coffee shop unique like that.
