We came into this restaurant with an open mind; all we wanted was a to-go milkshake. We walked in and were greeted by a very nice man--all of the workers were wearing 50's diner-like restaurant outfits. These outfits aided to the vibe of the restaurant.

After asking for a chocolate strawberry milkshake, he said it'll take 3 minutes. Once he was done, he came back (I was on my phone counting the time to see if he was accurate) in 2 minutes! We started joking about the 2 minute time.

The milkshake was delicious; one of the best that you can get in the area.

Such an iconic place to visit in Los Angeles, California since it was filmed in Steven Spielberg’s first movie “American Graffiti ” staring Ron Howard, Harrison Ford. If you love really delicious dinner food this is the place. Everyone is super friendly and you might even spot a local celebrity out to dinner. Highly recommend their special coffee blend or an Espresso Milk Shake. They still make them the old fashioned way. The Mel’s Burger is awesome!

It would be a 4 star review if it wasn’t for the Avocado Toast. This was the star of the show and made a huge difference.

The place is spacious, parking is free and the food was good — only the avocado toast was exceptional.

Service table was really good, but desk person during payment was a bit rude.

Delicious food, quick and friendly service! Loved the milkshake and burgers and super tasty crispy fries. Vegan and vegetarian options, they make their own beer which was good.

Went for a late breakfast on a weekday and it wasn’t crowded.
Their Tuna melt is the best. I would come back again.
Don’t expect it to be different than other diners except the vibes.

My Girlfriend and I were on vacation on June 8th, 2024. We were opting to go to a different restaurant. Ultimately, we decided to have lunch at Mels Drive-in. One of the best decisions, ever! The atmosphere, very old school and clean environment! Our waiter, Gabino, was extremely helpful, super nice guy! This Gentleman went above and beyond 👏. Please give him a raise!!!

The food, top notch!!!! One of the best in West Hollywood!!!!

We're hoping to be back next year!!! I highly recommend this place!!!!
Gabino, if you're reading this, thank you kindly, Sir!!!!

Nostalgic retro diner. Great food with big portions. Free valet parking so don't worry about finding a space. A must in West Hollywood.

The food, service, and atmosphere were all as I expected on our first visit to this Mel's Drive-In while on vacation in Los Angeles. They were rather busy on the afternoon we were there, but we were seated immediately, and our server was at our table within a minute. My wife had the Meatloaf Sandwich with slaw, and I had a Double Cheeseburger with fries. (pics of both.) Wife said the sandwich was one of the better Meatloaf Sandwiches she'd had. And we travel lots. My Cheeseburger was great, but really need to give a shout out for the fries. Hot, crispy (not limp), and plenty to share.

Good job, Mel's Drive-In. 5 stars for ya.

I only docked one star for service because they were extremely busy and it took some time, the service is fantastic and the servers are helpful and friendly. The smash burger is fantastic, definitely worth getting. Spiked milkshakes are also delicious and the iconic vintage feel really makes a special experience. I'll definitely be back

Another classic example of Googie style diners (like Johnie's and Norms), this Mel's location originally opened as Ben & Frank's in 1962 and had an A list rock star clientele. Of course today it is one of the best and last examples of authentic mid-century diner experience, with a perfect menu and lots of homage to George Lucas and American Graffiti. A true classic helping to keep vintage Sunset Strip alive and well.

We went to Mel’s Diner as tourist, just craving a good burger – but weren’t too sure it would deliver. It was one of the best Impossible burgers I have had, and the burger had alfalfa sprouts and so much flavor in the bread. It was really a delicious meal in a fun ambience if you are looking for a bit of nostalgia in LA. We did manage to get parking and were able to get in and out of the restaurant within an hour. I would highly recommend this place for a quick lunch or breakfast! The wait staff could use some work as they don’t really have great personalities, but I came for the food.

Super cute diner on sunset strip — and a parking lot! The waiter was super nice and friendly and the atmosphere and ambience was wonderful on an early Saturday evening. The food portions are big. I got the sunset burger and fries and my sister got the Mel famous burger and sweet potatoe fries and they were both so good. Honestly probably the best burger I’ve ever had - it was juicy and everything was so fresh. The beef patty was grilled well done for me and it was such a satisfying meal. Their milkshakes are also really really good. Highly recommend The Oreo milkshake! There’s ample seating indoor and some outdoor and the interior is all decked out like the 80s, each booth has a juke box and it’s super cute. Recommend coming here if you’re search for some comfort food!! The menu is also massive and 24 hours so lots of options. It is however on the pricier end.

Probably my favorite place to eat in LA. My girlfriend brought me here on Sunset boulevard and it was great. Amazing atmosphere, and nice typical authentic vibes of a real of fashion diner. It’s super popular and if you are lucky you can find also celebrities inside, not my case unfortunately! Food is delicious but my favorite thing was the strawberry milkshake! It’s great also because they do the milkshake and they bring you also the leftover without wasting it, so you have almost 2 milkshakes. Totally recommended if you are in LA and you want to try an authentic experience!

"Is this the 50s? Or 2025?" This 50's theme restaurant, with on-site parking, Mel's Drive-In, has the best breakfast, lunch, and dinner in LA, especially their burgers and milkshake.
On my visit, I ordered the Hollywood burger and fries paired with the Penguin Milkshake, The mouthwatering rich flavor burger tasted amazing from the first to the last bite, the taste was high quality, made with love. The service is amazing with friendly staff that welcome you and treat you like they know you, the server were very fast and attentive. Overall, the food, the staff, and the environment are the highlight of my visit.

From mouthwatering burgers to tempting vegan options, Mel's is a must-visit spot in Hollywood's food scene.

Blew my mind
The smash burger was transcendent.
You guys got beet/ginger juice that was freshly made. The service was friendly, and I felt right at home. I'll be back.
