I had an outstanding experience at Black Hall Outfitters! Exceptional customer service - Each and every employee shared their knowledge and expertise. Paul, Matt, Mike, Audra, & Gene were excellent and super helpful in the purchase of a my new fishing kayak. Mike walked me through all the features and assisted with loading and assembling it for a very smooth purchase. On top of that their free winter seminar series provides a great way to learn new skills and techniques taught by various fishing experts. Highly recommend this store and the knowledgeable and helpful team!

Best place in Connecticut to get kayak and fishing gear!

The Westbrook location is top notch with upper end equipment and supplies. The owner, his family and employees are very knowledgeable and are always receptive to any questions about fishing local waters. Gene also invites local experts to conduct seminars during the winter months, which are very informative, at no charge. You are never pressured to purchase anything talked about during those seminars, but if you are interested BHO probably has it.

I bought my first Old Towne peddle drive PDL 120 kayak from the guys down at Black Hall Outfitters. I Was pleased with my purchase, and also the knowledge and experience of the staff in helping me to decide what I needed .
The manager and owner made sure my new Kayak was delivered in a timely manner, and inspected at arrival to their store.

Great place for renting kayaks and paddle boards. Family had a fun time. Husband likes to go fishing so he comes here often to buy his fishing gears. Paul was friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back again.

This was my 2nd time renting kayaks at Black Hall Outfitters. Both times the employees were very helpful. The area behind the shop is beautiful to explore.

We had the most excellent kayak trip up the river and back. Be sure to check out the tides to see which way the tide will be flowing on your trip - it might make a big difference. Excellent staff and service.

Excellent tackle shop. Do not buy your fishing tackle (especially rods and reels) online. Support this local shop. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, their inventory is high quality and deep and their prices are good. You need to feel a reel and a rod in your hands to understand if it suits you and it’s purpose.

Fantastic equipment and really knowledgeable staff with no heavy sakes pitching. In addition I attended a fly fishing for beginners class organised through the store. Ray Ramos was the expert who ran this. He is the real deal, a tremendous teacher. Empathetic, patient and supremely helpful. I strongly recommend his classes to anyone. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Dropped in on a busy Saturday and rented 3 single kayaks for 2 hours. Kayaks/equipment were all well maintained. New facility is beautiful with clean bathrooms. We love kayaking in this area, great scenery and very tranquil.

For my first kayaking experience, this was definitely a great place to start! A couple of my friends and I each rented a single person kayak and out of the 3 of us, only one of us was somewhat experienced. We did a half day which was 4 hours for $60 (plus tax) which is a great deal! If you like adventure and you like to explore, I would highly recommend doing at least a half day. There are many different paths to take on the river and we also had access to the sound which was REALLY nice. The staff were super friendly and my experience as a whole was amazing! I'm already looking forward to going back!

Evan, the pro staff boy-genius, is beyond knowledgeable for his years on this planet. All of Black Hall Outfitters' staff are helpful, friendly and attentive. The rustic looking interior is cozy, with full inventory of fishing hardware & accessories, all placed in locations that make sense. Check this place out if you're ever in the area, you won't be disappointed.

I purchased a shimano twin power 6000 sw Fishing reel from shawn this guy went beyond his way to make sure it was gonna be delivered on time I received the reel in excellent condition Shawn is very knowledgeable I will definitely buy fishing supplies again I just want to thank you for professional customer service thanks

The access to the estuary/wildlife preserve make this a unique kayaking experience. We saw quite a few different birds, including an eagle, during our quiet and peaceful excursion. I definitely recommend it.

First time and I know it won't be my last. It was an extremely pleasant experience seeing many varieties of birdlife and even fiddler crabs which I haven't seen in years. Paddling and floating along; such a peaceful two hours. It was an overcast day which was perfect and I had the entire river to myself.

Rented kayaks at Black Hall Westbrook. Great experience overall, well taken care of by the Black Hall team. Easy to do business with, which is always appreciated. Beautiful area to kayak in with great options to go inland or out to the sound. We will be back.

Beautiful well layed out two level new store of quality sporting equipment ,fishing supplies ,kayaking equipment and accessories. The manager John was helpful and friendly,awesome place to checkout when on the westbrook Connecticut shoreline
