In a world of self checkout and impersonal, online shopping, it is SO refreshing to walk into a store and be greeted with a, “Hey! We haven’t seen you in a while. How have you been? Are you knitting anything special these days?”

Plus, their selection is fantastic. I love this store!

Am new to knitting and had several questions about yarn and needles. Linda was extremely helpful in explaining the differences and I wound up buying an amazing set of needles and great quality yarn to start with. She even wrote down some practices I can do to prepare for future lessons with them. Beautiful store and wonderful staff!!

I've only been here twice, but every time I come out with something gorgeous, and I really enjoy everything they have there. I found a beautiful yarn for a sweater and really love the options that they have.

They've gotten a bigger shop since the last time I came and it looks like it's just set up for you to relax and get comfortable. It is awesome.

Highly recommended if you're into any needle arts, as they have all types.

I just love this store. I stop by often for help and lessons, as well as to stock up on the stunning yarns during the wonderful sales.

One time, I was having issues assembling the sleeves of my cardigan and called to see if I could get help. The owner, Marti, was kind enough to read the instructions with me and we figured it out. I have since visited multiple times for knitting lessons with Shelly (excellent!). Recently, I had trouble with my magic loop and I was able to get help from another expert, Linda. Kenny has been my go-to for anything brioche-related. He is amazing! Everyone at this shop is incredibly patient, kind, and encouraging. If you want to learn how to crochet or knit, this is the store for you! They also take donations of yarn (I have a lot that I need to purge) to distribute to different groups.

Best knitting store in Virginia! An hour outside from northern VA but worth it. Huge selection, great prices. Amazing shop owner.

The staff are always super friendly, professional, and helpful! I was looking for a specific color of Weeks Dye Works, but they were all out. The employee took the time to look up possible alternatives and helped me pick out a different color. I only go for the fancy floss for cross-stitching, but if you love knitting, then this is the store for you! Huge selection and very knowledgeable staff!!

The entire shop staff is helpful, friendly, and in general amazing! Their selection is great, they have a wide selection of every kind of yarn you’d ever need! I drive 45 minutes just to come in and look at yarn. They have enough of the yarns I love to make shawls, that we don’t have to order or do anything special. This place is truly amazing and worth the trip!

Best yarn store I have ever been to. If you are in the Northern Virginia area and looking for an amazing selection of yarn and needlecraft accessories, Needles in the Haymarket is hands-down the best there is. Whenever I travel to other areas, I always scope out the local yarn shops and have yet to find any others that top this place. The staff are also all very welcoming and helpful. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Beautiful selection of the yarns! Extensive collection of patterns! Staff that knows their stuff! I don’t know whether to buy all the yarn and take it home, or just stay in the shop and knit with all the nice folks that seem to always be there. The warmth and friendliness of this shop is amazing. I always find just what I’m looking for!

This place is the dream of yarn enthusiasts. So much yarn in all colors and materials are available here! They even have books with patterns and a good selection of hooks and needles. I wish they had a bigger selection of buttons, but can't win them all. The staff was super friendly and very helpful too.

Fabulous shop and employees. I am a novice knitter and made a mistake when making socks. Tammy helped me figure out the issue, assisted me in backing it up and guided me to get back on track. She was so friendly and encouraging and made the entire experience so enjoyable. On top of that, the inventory is gorgeous and extensive. Definitely make time to go by this store!

I can't emphasize enough how happy I am from my first experience at this store, and how happy I will be to go back. I started a sweater years ago, but some of the yarn was misplaced. However, I was unable to figure out how to find replacements for it years later when I tried. The staff not only took my information about what materials and what brand I knew it was, they endlessly searched to try and find a seller when they found the yarn, which was discontinued. They found a seller on Ravelry who had the right yarn, and now I can finish my sweater!

Don't miss this one. I have been to no fewer than 19 (!) local yarn stores in the last year and Needles in the Haymarket is absolutely top notch. BEST SELECTION of the 7 Virginia stores I've visited. If you want handpainted indie yarns, plant fibers, baby yarns, or self-striping sock yarns, here's your shop. They have a large selection of tools, notions, and yarn bowls, and a big cross stitch nook, too. This is a LARGE store.

Wow! I ordered some really cute yarn for a baby blanket on Friday. It got here today, Monday, well packaged, and enclosed was a handwritten thank you note. I’m impressed and am definitely ordering again!

They were so kind and all that yarn everywhere! She let me ask so many questions and helped me iron out some of the things I was doing wonky. It's so nice having a place willing to help and teach and just share information as much as help you pick beautiful yarn. 10/10 will def be going again

I love this shop. The yarns are beautiful and projects are on display everywhere in a bright airy space. The staff patiently guides you toward the products you’ll need to knit that vision in your head.

I didn't know that Haymarket had a yarn shop until very recently. I'm so glad I found it! After my LYS closed in Manassas a few years back, I've had to travel to Fairfax and Alexandria for in-person yarn shopping. Compared to some shops I've been to, Needles in the Haymarket is huge and has a similarly impressive selection. They have store-wide sales twice a month, the first Tuesday and third Saturday if I remember correctly. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I can imagine this would be a lovely place to come and knit.
