Had a great experience here. Beautiful grounds and premises. Exhibits were interesting and fascinating. I was lucky enough to have a group guided tour with Katie (who was super friendly and veritable fount of knowledge) and was allowed to see the third floor storage and the underground tunnels and boilers. Reputed to be haunted, but alas - no manifestations.

Plenty of parking, huge playground for the kids, no admission fee but donations are welcomed.

It was an amazing experience. This museum gives you a peek into the past. One gets to live vicariously through the illustrated paintings 🖼 and detailed demonstrations about the neutrals and early establishments in the county. The surroundings🌳🎋 offer you a tranquil view as a perk. There is no admission fee, you can pay a donation if you like or you can enter without paying anything.

Amazing staff, fabulous displays.
We went for the dinosaur exhibit, which was amazing, but we also thoroughly enjoyed the Poor House history & exhibits.
I decided to also introduce my grandchildren to the archives in hopes of creating some interest/questions. While sitting at the computers trying to figure out how to do a search, one of the amazing staff came over to help. She quickly captured the children’s interest with the right questions and help. We had an amazing peak through the archives, newspapers older than Canada and so much informative & exciting information which kept my 12 & 10 year old questioning.
Thank you to the highly educated professional who not only gave us a brief insight into her degrees, but also had the compassion and knowledge to engage my grandchildren. I wish I could remember her name!

Went on a trip here with our Junior kindergarten - grade 2 classes. The programs were super engaging, well paced, and delivered by a passionate and clearly child-focused team! Highly recommend.

Across the road from the museum is a short trail where you can view some ruins. This was used to supply water to the House of Refuge - now known as the museum. Interesting info board and nice trail that goes thru woods and along the water.

I enjoyed my visit to the Wellington County Museum and Archives. The building is beautiful but with an unfortunate history that was fascinating to learn about. The exhibits were well put together. This would be a good place to take kids. There was a dinosaur exhibit and some other areas geared towards kids. I wish I had more time to explore the archives. The room had a nice atmosphere, and the archivist was very friendly.

This museum was real find! The story of the building, originally operating as a "poor house", was very well described with many photos from the past. It was quite compelling and informative. There is a nice balance between several " permanent" exhibitions and some time limited exhibitions. The variety of exhibits included a tribute to queen Elizabeth II, soldiers in the trenches in WW1, and a juried art exhibit. We had a picnic on the grounds too. If you are in Elora or Fergus, try to find time to stop here. Entry is by donation.

Amazing place for day out and hiking. Very old culture displayed. There is a trail which is very interesting covered by trees 🌳 …………Mostly people come with their family. Moreover, this place have a library which is quite open, gives you a better outside view……….

They had an animatronic dinosaur exhibit for a short time. Our whole family went. Great experience for all. My 2 year old grandson was in awe. The whole museum is well curated and very interesting. Some hands on for young kids. Great place to spend a few of hours.

This museum is completely open to the public and has interesting artifacts and displays teaching the history of the county. It's a truly stunning building with a very picturesque trail across it (Aboyne Trail). Definitely worth the visit.

We went for a hike on the museum trail, Elora trail, and it was magnificent!
We have only moves to Fergus in October of 2021 and keep finding these awesome trails everywhere. This one by far is the best as the views are stunning and options of where to go are big.

Amazing staff and great exhibits! The dinosaur one was what brought us to the museum and it was great for our almost two year old. All the kids seemed to enjoy it!
