I was just there yesterday for the first time and the pies and butter tarts were fantastic and Vera was such a nice lady.
The covered bridge is just steps away and a great photo op .

The heart of this fabulous convenience store is owner Vera, who always has a warm smile to accompany her great service. Show up early Saturday for warm fresh apple fritters. Great pies, breads, and now even gluten free desserts await. Cash only.

This is a little variety store with a lot of miscellaneous items which owned by Mennonites and located right near the covered bridge. The one thing you need to buy is the butter tarts, some of the best in the Waterloo region. They come in regular, pecan, raisin and they have a special maple flavor which everyone needs go try at least once.

I came across this store by chance when we visited the covered/kissing bridge.
As soon as I came in, I was greeted with a friendly smile. The store is run by a Menonite family.
They offer homemade bakery products, jams and maple syrup.
They have almost everything that a variety store offers for the nearby residents.
It was enjoyable to browse their variety of products, i picked up a ranch seasoning for popcorn and a pack of bran muffins which is made of natural products and it actually tasted good.
If you are visiting the village of Woolwich, don't hesitate to open that door of the Lost Acre variety store because you won't be disappointed.
I had a really good experience and I'm glad I went in, you will feel welcomed with a sweet smile.
Don't forget to bring some cash because the store is run like old school, they only take cash.

I remember going to this place as a kid. Just as good, if not better than I remember. Everything you need to make baked goods. A huge spice and seasoning selection, eggs, meat, milk, cheese, cereals, fresh vegetables, frozen vegetables the best baked goodies and premade meals that were most definitely made with love. And so much more. If your in the area you should stop by Lost Acre Variety and see all they have to offer. Also the staff are delightful!

A great little shop in the heart of Mennonite country. A regular stop of mine for the best granola and oatmeal in the world, located next to the Kissing Bridge.

Great store! Has much more then you would expect. Wonderful bakery section, which is made fresh daily. Lots of treats and other goodies. Many souvenirs of the area, some hand maid. Usually offers ice cream cones during the warmer weather. Will even make a sandwich if requested. Bulk food, frozen foods, and many household items. Reminds me of an old school "General Store" of the days gone by. Cash only - would be nice if they took debit/credit but I believe this is a Mennonite thing where they aren't allowed to use it. Just like not being open Sundays. Definitely worth the visit!

We live nearby, and love Vera's pies. When my mother visited we had Vera's pumpkin pie, and she said the choice of spices was the best she had ever tasted. My favourite is the apple pie; my wife likes the Shepard's pie. My daughter is particularly fond of the pumpkin Whoopi pies, and always grabs one on the way out. Vera (the owner) is super kind and friendly, and her store is packed with an amazing variety of goods.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is where you can find the best butter tarts in the world. The soft breading on the outside and the perfect buttery inside are just unrivaled

We bought four loaves of Cheese Bread from Riverside Bakery while at the Elora Market... same address as Lost Acre so I hope they also sell the bread at the store.

We had bought one loaf the previous week and LOVED it. So, this time we bought four. And one apple fritter which my wife wolfed down in one minute.

Visiting this store was like stepping back in time, in the most comforting and inspiring way. They also had the biggest bag of chips I have ever seen in my life (yes even bigger than Costco) which I would have bought had I not been borrowing my partner's cash haha!
