A friend and I went here for an evening meal, before attending an event in the town Hall. As it was a lovely warm evening we chose to sit outside. The hotel is situated beside the river so lovely scenery to enjoy. Many others had the same idea as ourselves, and although busy the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. A good choice of food on the menu, prices compare well with other places where I've eaten. I had the salmon with crushed potato and wilted Lettuce and it was very tasty. It is easy to over cook salmon, (I have a tendency to do that myself!) but this was cooked to perfection. Dogs are allowed in the garden eating area and it was nice to see they had a water station with bowls for the use of dogs accompanying their human diners. This is an old building by the riverside, and because of its situation the paved garden is on a slight slope and a little uneven in places. I have some mobility problems, but didn't find walking through the outdoor dining area an issue, but care is needed. It all adds to the ambience, and attractiveness of the area.
There is a small car park, which again is on a slope. However it's only a short walk from the town centre, so parking in town is another option. I would recommend a visit, and I hope to be back again soon.

We had a family meal there last night and the food and service was amazing! The staff were friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was incredible and the kids loved it too. Highly recommend.

I was taken here by a friend for my birthday lunch. What a beautiful setting. We sat right by the river on a glorious summer day. Flatbreads were good too

A fantastic location on the Broads. Attentive staff, considering how busy it was they had enough. The food was freshly made, not just a typical river side pub selection. The prawns pil pil and the mixed fish platter were a perfect light lunch.

We visited here to meet family for a meal and catch up etc. The location is extremely good, being well within the town and immediately adjacent to the river (great views).
The restaurant offered a great choice of starters, mains and desserts, which easily satisfied all 6 of our party.
The hotel also offers accommodation, a function room and is licensed for weddings etc.
Highly recommended 👍

Update 17 Jan 2024 -Still a wonderful hotel. . Anyone would be happy to go to this place son's/daughters or grandparents etc. Spacious and bright. Cosy on a winters night . I had the most superb 6oz burger. There were also fish and vegetarian options on the menu . Highly recommended.
,......... Original review : This is an attractive hotel set on the banks of the River Waveney . It has ample free parking and is only about 5mins walk from the Town Centre shops , bars , restaurants . This hotel has an outside seating area for when the weather is fine and good views of the River . Food and drink is of a good standard, and staff polite , friendly, and helpful .

Had a very good couple of halves of Adnams beers in the bar yesterday (Weds 22nd Feb). Efficient friendly and smart staff, nice location with a small outside area by the river Waveney - hence the name ! Rating for the bar only, wasn't staying in the hotel and didn't eat but food looked very good and don't doubt the hotel rooms would prove equally so. Thank you for being part of a thoroughly enjoyable pub crawl day out in Beccles xx.

The Waveney hosted my best friends wedding this weekend, and the whole event was sensational. The staff were attentive and accommodating, the venue was immaculate and the food incredible. As a father of two young children we were blown away by the staffs attitude towards our children, always checking in to make sure they were ok.
We also stayed the night in one of the rooms which was also immaculate and very comfortable.
Can’t recommend enough

First time visit to Beccles.
Fancied an outside lunch.
The service was excellent and the food was cooked to perfection.
Belly Pork & Salmon for the main course with a prawn dish as a starter which we shared. Summer pudding for desert with tea and coffee.
A sneaky strawberry daiquiri for my wife.
A great experience alongside the river Bank.
A must for all visitors and locals.
Thank you.

We didn't stay here, just called in one evening for a drink by the river. Very nice outside, staff were very friendly and helpful. We already had a table booked in another restaurant, but the menu and food here looked very good, if we hadn't already booked in somewhere else for the evening I would have had a meal here. Plenty of parking too, which is good as Beccles can be a bit hard to park depending on the time of year you visit.

Absolutely amazing! We held a surprise 60th party here in the middle of December and they were amazing. Massive thanks to Lisa for helping us arrange it so close to Christmas and last minute! Also big thanks to Kim for making it all come together perfectly on the night. Must also shout out the chefs for putting together a delicious bespoke buffet
