Beccles Fish Bar

This is my favourite Chip shop around, and believe me I have tried them all, from Diss to Beccles. And everywhere in between and I happily drive 16 miles to purchase their chips, Cod is amazing too.

Authentic fish and chips that are the best around. Visiting here from Australia and found these to be some of the best ever tasted anywhere. Highly recommended but get there early as queues form well before they open and it gets busy.

Fantastic. The Service, The Chips and The Large Cod was not only Huge, was cooked perfectly to order. The Young Staff was all very pleasant and exceptionally good and polite.

Delicious traditional fish and chips which were cooked perfectly. Service was great and the prices appropriate to order. Will definitely return for another meal.

After 14 months of living in Beccles, I finally found myself in the perfect situation to try out a local chippy.
Being the closest at the time, and having seen hoards of people queuing/waiting in the past, I thought I'd give Beccles Fish Bar a shot.

I wasn't disappointed. There was a steady flow of customers going in through the door, but orders were taken swiftly and the well oiled machine of staff behind the counter were ticking over like a troupe of expert plate spinners.

Order taken, it was time to stand outside and watch the throng. More customers arriving, and order numbers being called out for those soon to be lucky enough to be enjoying a rapid car journey home, surrounded by that special fish n chip aroma. Soon enough it was my turn. Number called, then a member of staff brough my order outside to me and exchanged it for the numbered ticket I'd been given on ordering.

So, double wrapped haddock, chips and mushy peas were placed in my rucksack, with all the care of a dozen fresh eggs. Nobody wants squashed haddock! Arriving home in record time on my pushbike, the parcel was popped into the oven while the obligatory rolls were buttered. Ten minutes later, the meal of the day was in front of me, in all its battered and deep fried glory.

As I said at the beginning of this novel, I wasn't disappointed. Tasty, flaky fish with crisp batter and a portion of perfect chips. If there was one thing that could've been better, the mushy peas could be slightly thicker, but they didn't detract from this gloriously British tradition.

Top marks all round. I don't think I need to try anywhere else now. It'll be difficult to beat 😊

Had to wait a short while because they were busy, but we'll worth the wait. Ordered 2 small cod and chips, cod was cooked perfect, just melted in the mouth, couldn't eat all the chips, for a small portion there was enough for 2 let alone 1. 10 out 10.

Yummy!! Absolutely delicious sausage & chips - be prepared to wait for a little while as they are so popular there’s always a queue but it’s definitely worth the wait 😋 The staff are so friendly and work so quickly to get your order to you… Definitely the best fish & chip shop in our area ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Beautiful white flacky cod. Chips to die for. Plain sausage was butchers quality and tasty. Can see why there's queues here often.

Arguably the best representation of Fish and Chips in East Anglia, possibly the UK. Fish always tastes super fresh, chips are cooked to perfection and the sausages from the local butcher are to die for. This place has become part of a ritual for every time we visit Beccles!!!

We had some really good fish and chips. A good thick piece of well battered fish which was nicely cooked with some really good chips, again well cooked, not soggy and greasy as is so often the case.

Soooooo good! Beccles is a top place for fish and chips with 2 great takeaways...delicious crispy battered fish, top quality sausages and amazing chips.

This is without a doubt the best chippy in this area. I travel 22miles to enjoy their wonderful chips

Great fish and chips. Ideally go here when they first start trying new potatoes. The team in here are always quick and friendly but be prepared for a queue on a Friday evening.

Superb & open during this crazy governments imprisonment of its citizens. Hopefully our chip shops will never close for good but maybe this is just wishful thinking. Make the most of our chippies whilst you can and head to Beccles Fish Bar .. KEEP OUR CHIP SHOPS ALIVE !

If ur looking for amazing suculunt boneless peices of fish, meaty sausages and chips so crisp and fluffy then this is the place!! Me and my family always come here. Thier Cod and Rock Fish are to die for. Also thier curry sauce is a thing of beauty!!!!! DO NOT EVER CHANGE!!!!

We popped in last night after a drink 2 lovely girls very welcoming pasty and chips and fish and chips wrapped up in a way we could eat them on our way back to the boat really enjoyed them made a change from eating in a restaurant but fish and chips always taste better from the bag well done to the cooks and team would go again.

Best chippy in Beccles been coming here for over 20 years lovely boneless fish and the best sausages (seppings) of Beccles. Very good quality and value for money and friendly service too.

Awesome fish and chips with great fast service. Curry sauce is also brilliant.
