Stopped off here on a long walk from Beccles, lovely place close to the river and very peaceful. Had the filled baguettes with side salad and tortillas with a side of chips - baguettes were lovely but the tortilla crisps were tasteless and dry - maybe change to basic salted crisps? All said, really nice place to refuel and the staff were all lovely ☺

Been here many times.
Food always good (when they serve food) last 3 times including Friday and Sunday between 3pm and 5pm they either didn't do food at all or just chips.
Drinks always a bonus!
Nice pub in a great location.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Dog friendly.
Highly recommend 👍 😊 👍

We first came here when we camped nearby in 2019. I think, at that point it must have been on the slippery slope towards closure. I gather it had been flooded on more than one occasion due to it's close proximity to the river and the couple running were losing heart.
It's now a pub owned by the community! At short notice around 1500 people rallied round and put their money and tremendous efforts where their hearts are. It's now a very popular, unpretentious pub and meeting place for the local populace. Decent food and good ales and friendly people who weren't prepared to lose a large part of the history and heart of the area.
Good mooring on the riverside and a peaceful spot.

We have visited the locks before.
The food is always of a good standard, super tasty, and good value for money.
Since this has become a community pub the changes made have been wonderful and create a much better environment and experience. The broads authority have renovated the moorings with a pontoon for canoes etc and an area you can pull them into ( out of the water) to store whilst at the pub.
The bridges over the water have been refurbished by the environment agency and again enhance the experience and cosmetically lift it all.
We brought our granddaughter along who loved playing in the open grass area and exploring the small woodland walk.

We came here twice on our holiday, once via a beautiful walk through villages and fields and second via boat. The weekend visit had outdoor music, a great atmosphere, lots of dogs and good drinks. The second time was a quiet weekday lunchtime and the staff were very friendly and helped me carry my drinks and food to the table. We loved the recommendation not to drive there which made getting there part of the adventure. Thanks

This really is a Gem on the side of the river waveny. A classic old-fashioned public house, run by the community for the community. It's like stepping back in time as you walk through the door into the bar, decorated with classic wooden furniture and an open fire. In the summer, the large river side garden often has live bands and pop up caterers. They alps have a great nacho menu! If you haven't been I would reccomend checking this out in both summer and winter for a lovely afternoon out. Free mooring and parking available.

Fantastic community run pub with regular events and entertainment with pub games like darts, billiards and boardgames available, too.

Set rurally along the river, it's accessible by car, bike, boat and foot.

A really laid back vibe to this pub, it certainly is rustic but full of soul.

Dogs and children are very welcome.

A beautiful traditional pub which is now community run. Stopped off here during an afternoon of canoeing for drinks. They serve a good selection of beverages and also have a decent menu of food too, all at reasonable prices. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Plenty of tables and benches outside, whether permitting, to sit and admire the picturesque setting. Very well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Great vibe. Lovely to see this unique old pub saved by the community. Food was regular pub fare, weather was amazing(can't really score the pub on that but it makes a difference, beer was exceptional.) Great place on a sunny day. Since we were arriving by kayak we missed it since there was no sign on the river indicating where to go. I think that would be a really simple thing to organise and would have saved us some unnecessary paddling🙂

Great little pub ‘in the middle of nowhere’
Parking is a bit tricky as it’s down a rough track and then you have a short walk to the pub itself, but it’s worth the effort. Food is good quality pub grub and there’s a good selection of drinks we even tried the pina colada cider.

I stayed at an airbnb that was a short walk away from the locks, there is a nice walk across the field nearby that will offer stunning views of the sunset and there are cows in the field. People were swimming in the water near the bridge and there was a good selection of beer and cider when I went. Plenty of outdoor seating. Parking is limited.

We stumbled upon this lovely pub 6 years ago while visiting East Anglia from Chicago. We fell in love with it immediately. It's such a unique experience and have made two more special visits while travelling the UK. To us this is what an English pub should be. The food was delicious and served quickly. The atmosphere is second to none. We even fell in love with the "long walk" to the pub from the "parking lot" in the cow pasture.

Great pub, slightly hard to find but make sure you do as it’s worth it. Now part of the grain breweries group too.

It was busy as usual. Lots of people taking advantage of the river access and ferry from Beccles. Food was very fresh and nicely presented. I had Hunters Chicken and it was delicious. My friends had Mac n cheese and haddock with chips, which they thought very good. Lovely big beer garden. Well behaved dogs welcome. I like that they've improved the launch area with a low pontoon for kayak and sup users as well as an area to store your craft while using the pub. They are having work done on the drive so a short walk from the big carpark at the moment. Some good beers to choose from and staff were great and obviously working hard to cater to a busy lunch crowd.

A nice place to stop for lunch and a pint whilst kayaking or canoeing the River Waveney. They have installed a custom pontoon for kayaks and a ' kayak park area'. Good local cask ales and nice food. The service was absolutely outstanding which seems to be a rarity now days.

Community pub we arrived by boat and enjoyed coffee and hot chocolate. Lovely setting and very friendly service. Food only at weekends when we visited but they still had cakes and sausage rolls.

We had a drink on a reminiscing visit. Its nice to see the old pub having been taken over by the community. Even more impressive was that the original part still has no electric. I spent a lot of weekends here when I was a teenager travelling down to geldeston on the boat my parents owned. A beautiful place
