First time sit down Indian restaurant experience for myself. Luckily I had someone who was well experienced. Food was phenomenal, portions were just right, the owner was constantly checking up on us to make sure we liked everything and if we needed anything more. He even tried warning us to not order so much at one point! Haha

Fantastic, authentic food. We had three vegetarian side dishes, butter paneer, kashmiri aloo, tamarind aubergine. All were tremendous, well spiced, and with a depth of flavour and understanding of the dishes that's rare to find. Staff friendly and lovely.

Wanted to have dosa and after a lot of research came up with Vedanta. It already had a high rating and I must say the place deserves it. Very easy to locate though they don't have parking. For lunch the place was a bit empty but I guess for dinner you need to book a table before hand. The food was really good, a very good ambience with good traditional Carnatic music playing on the day I went and good, behaved and friendly staff. The food is a derivative of sauces primarily but good nonetheless. Just a heads up, the kulfi isn't like what we get in India and that's probably in order to adjust for any other pallettes apart from Indian.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food is a bit different from the usual Bengali style having many dishes from South India on offer. The restaurant was buzzing with activity on a wet Monday night which can't be bad. The service was fairly prompt despite it being busy. Prices normal - around £9 to £10 for a main course. Recommended for a visit.

Wow I must say this is the best Indian food I have ever had. We booked a table and was surprised how busy it was for a Monday . We were given a window table and I watched on how the staff had a eye on each table making sure everyone was happy.
When the food arrive it was just amazing. Little extras free of charge which was so sweet, the Lamb curry wad so lovely just how I would make it and it tasted better than mine which has never happened before from any Indian curry house in Cambridge.
Must say I was blown away the whole thing was just amazing.
Thank you for coming to Cambridge and opening such a lovely place

Unequivocally the best Indian restaurant in the city center of Cambridge. Most standard curry houses in the UK tend to oversaturate their dishes with excessive amounts of oil and grease. Vedanta, on the other hand, eschews this ubiquitous practice of "over-oiling" in favor of a more finesse-based approach. The end product is an absolutely delightful array of curry comestibles. Ample vegetarian options are available on the menu. It is certainly not the spiciest eating establishment in Cambridge - but if you are a heat-seeker, you can certainly ask the staff the increase the spice-level if you are so inclined. In sum, a delicious option for standard North Indian fare within easy walking distance of the bus station and the train station. As a one time student at the university, I searched extensively for the best place in town to get a curry - and this is undoubtedly it!

This is an exquisite restaurant. The service was excellent, there are very attentive and cheerful staff which creates a beautiful atmosphere, along with the pleasant interior adorned with beautiful paintings. The food was second to none. I especially appreciated the tamarind fish curry and my girlfriend loved the butter chicken. There is something for everyone. Thank you, Vedanta for a stellar night.

I ordered the prawn curry that has a subtitle in the menu saying “not to be missed” which was very true, of course with plain rice together they are incredible to portions are not small at all either the person I went with got Lamb Basmati rice they enjoyed it as well and I had a chance to try it, it was also amazing. I do not usually choose Indian when I eat outside but this place really changes the game. The mint chocolate they gave at the end was also really tasty and nice of them. The music was also nice, it was a bit long to wait for it but definitely worth the wait.

Friendly, accommodating staff, atmospheric but not overly noisy establishment. Now for the food: genuinely the most superior tandoori chicken I have eaten. Succulent, tender, delicious, moist. The lamb shank I also wholeheartedly recommend. Rich sauce, just enough heat, impressive depth of flavour. For me unquestionably 5* aside from a billing error that was quickly spotted and addressed. I will visit again.

Home is a distant land is how I would describe this amazing restaurant that I visited recently, this place is a MUST GO! . It was worth every minute it took to get there. The service was wonderful and the food was impeccable. This reminded me of my home land and the refreshing taste took me around my memory lane of time in India... this is d best place for anyone looking authentic Indian food. The service was exceptional and the chef was very friendly and the staff were attentive. We felt a part of them when we were there. The finger licking food, amazing ambience at a fairly decent price is the best to call out. I am definitely visiting them as often as possible.

There are many curry places in Cambridge and this one is definitely one of my favourite. The food is fantastic. Although the guests in this place tend to talk super loudly which wasn't pleasant. In the end my friend and I just smiled at each other throughout the meal because we couldn't hear each other. Would go there again for food but probably not on a busy Friday night.

Delicious authentic Indian food. It really was amazing, and 4 of the 5 dishes we got we hadn't seen anywhere else in the UK.

Be adventurous and try something you wouldn't see in a typical British curry house :)

The service was great, really relaxed and friendly. If you like spice then you won't be disappointed but if not there are plenty of options too. Highly recommend the chicken Makhanwala for mild heat and nicely balanced spices.

My boyfriend and I had a buffet lunch on a Saturday for only £5.90. The food was delicious, mostly vegetarian and the staff was very polite and friendly. I'd definitely eat there again.

This place offers a different style of cuisine to your typical Indian restaurant, and makes a nice change. Tasty food, good sized portions. Biryani served in a copper dish with a pastry top is particularly recommended!

Popped in here on the basis of dosas being on the menu and was extremely impressed by the food. Really unusual flavours and presentation. The fish curry was phenomenal, and the lamb biryani came topped in thin flaky pastry and was delicious. Was completely stuffed but couldn't resist trying the carrot halva, which was warm and not overly sweet. A great little find on Regents Street in an area where many restaurants can be bland and touristy.
