We were there just for dinner as a walk in. We were welcomed with a smile, found a table, served quickly and the food was great. Also prepared to our specifications. Nothing was a chore. Staff were lovely and friendly even though they were very busy. Thank you for a lovely evening

We're so glad we ignored a negative review and chose to eat here during our stay in Grasmere. All of the staff who served us were friendly and welcoming. We both had pie of the day, which was lamb and rosemary, the lamb was so tasty and melt in the mouth, it came with chips and a nice selection of veg. A special thank you to Paige, behind the bar, she was a breath of fresh air and also to Faye who made me a perfect Tia Maria liqueur coffee. We'll definitely visit again next time we're in Grasmere.

Great central location for Grasmere, parking is tight with around 15 car parking spaces available immediately outside the hotel, however there is a 'partner' hotel which will allow you to park there instead.
Rooms are ok, nothing to write home about, just adequate and they do the job.
The bar, restaurant and casual lounge area are good, food is ok, not a massive selection of draught beers, but enough for most visitors, wine and spirits the same, not a massive amount of selection, but most visitors will find something they may like.
The hotel has a lift.
It is dog friendly (pay extra for your 4 legged friend)
The swimming pool and sauna is free to use for residents.
The colleagues we encountered all seemed good, if things go wrong, they will own up and sort it no issues.
All in all:
Great location
Good overall standard of hotel, colleague, and services.
Location sells this hotel

Loved it! Saw a queue for food ordering when first walked in but this was dealt with quickly. Nice communal seating, rustic pub, dogs allowed, food lovely, fresh, hot and plenty of it! Lovely friendly staff. Definitely recommend here! Plant based food too. Good location in village.

Stayed at their sister hotel 'The Bridge' but had dinner here on Sunday evening.
Service was great, friendly helpful staff who made you feel welcome. Special mention to Faye and Gabi.
Food was delicious. Served quickly and well presented.
Plenty of menu choices, something for everyone.

Sarah and Rhian were exceptional hosts. Nothing was too much and they made out stay wonderful. The room was well appointed and the bfast cooked to order. Car parking was easy as you will be emailed a numbered slot before you arrive. The whole atmosphere in and around the hotel was v good. We ate at the sister hotel ( I used the pool and sauna free
of charge at the hotel), and the three course meal was perfect. Will definitely visit again.

We've stayed here on numerous occasions and it never disappoints. The rooms are great, as well as the facilities. What really makes it is the value for the room, dinner and breakfast deal. Food in the restaurant is fantastic.

Only stayed one night, but loved the place. So many beautiful leather chairs.. Food was really nice, although breakfast was a bit meagre, sadly forgot swim trunks, but the village is beautifull too. A wee bit on the pricy side, but you get what you pay for,and this did not disappoint in any way.

17 years since we last stayed in this hotel and we are delighted to see that the exemplary standards we remember have been maintained. All aspects of our stay were thoroughly enjoyable thanks to the diligence, care and professionalism of the staff we had the pleasure of dealing with. A special thanks to chefs Benney, Darron and Nathan for delivering food in the hotel restaurant of the highest standard.

I stayed here for my 60th Birthday and had a fabulous time. Only problem we had was lack of WiFi in our room. WiFi OK in hotel itself but not in bedrooms.. had a couple of problems in our room but they were sorted within 20 mins of being reported so excellent service there. Very friendly staff Amber from Canada in particular was fabulous shexwas in the conservatory our first night 7th April. The girl on the 8th April had no personality and was very flat and everyone was saying how they were missing Amber. You need more Amber's 😂😂. Will definately stay again.

My partner, I and our very big Newfoundland dog stayed this weekend. We've found previously places that say they are dog friendly don't cater for giant breeds such as ours but nothing was too much trouble, our suite was perfect, ample room for us and the dog. It was clean spacious and we had a great night's sleep. The food we had was great and staff took care when seating us to make sure we had room for our dog. We found all staff polite helpful and professional. Our favourite part was sitting in the lounge in the evening with a glass of wine surrounded by christmas decorations playing board games it was magical.

Really loved staying here with my partner and two dogs. The place could not be in a better position, you're right on all of the walking trails, once you park up you don't have much need to move again! We had really nice and welcoming treatment from all of the staff, especially the Spanish waiters while serving breakfast (fantastic!). My only criticism staff wise was that the check-in lady had clearly had a long day, and it showed in her treatment of us and disdain for silly questions, but I'll let her off because after I showed her politeness she was nice back (I imagine a lot of the negative reviews on here are in relation to a similar treatment).

The room was great and the bed was huge! The radiators were on turbo heat though, my word I've never been so hot, it felt like a sauna, but easily handled by opening a window. HOWEVER, we had a room near the kitchen or pool fan which made a racket from until midnight and again from 5.30am. So we had the option to have a sauna or a noisy morning.

But despite all of that we felt like the positives outweighed the negatives! The breakfast was also fantastic!

The pub really is the heart of the village - would stay again, except maybe in a different room!
