Grasmere Tea Gardens

We've visited the Lake District every year for the last few years around our birthdays and we've made a point of visiting Grasmere on the way back for 2 reasons: the gingerbread shop and to have lunch at the tea gardens. The tea gardens have absolutely lovely food, lovely staff, and a really nice view of the river in the outdoor seating area at the back. I'm sure we'll be back next year.

Only thing to be aware of is it can get quite busy around lunch some days so depending on what time you're going there may be a short wait outside. It's worth it though!

One of the best spot to enjoy your coffee and a sandwich. They have a really cute outdoor space right on the river with a view of the church and a bridge. Food was average, however staff is really helpful and service is quick.

Nice seating inside but also a patio area next to the river.

We really enjoyed our visit.
The sandwiches and panini was very nice, the service was excellent, and there was a great atmosphere on a lovely sunny day.
The only negative I have is that it is a bit pricey, especially for the canned drinks.

The hot apple cinnamon is delightful with a slice of lemon cake. The views of the gardens and water is something out of a Woolworth poem. Oh wait, he happens to be buried right around the corner.

Absolutely loved the place, is located so nicely beside a river which makes it more enjoyable having a quick bite and drink in the garden. The staff is very nice and welcoming, the food and drinks are very good as well and not expensive either. If your travels take you to Grasmere have a stop and you will not regret it for sure! Enjoy 👍🏻❤

Vegetarian Panini and Potatoes were good.

We ate there twice the food was great standard the staff were friendly and very funny Carrot and lentil soup delicious

Lovely place at a great spot in grasmere to have drink. I really enjoyed the banana milkshake and apple pie.

Nice place for breakfast or lunch. Sitting next to river, beautiful. Very soft toast and bacon baked to the perfection.

Definitely recommend

Walked to top of falls both sides, you can feel the water spray on your face & a walk down bottom falls too. 🚶‍♀🚶‍♂🚶‍♀🚶‍♂👍

Lovely tea place with beautiful view

Love the fact that it is dog free. It is so hard to find anywhere, especially in the Lake District, which isn't full of dogs, the problem seems to get worse every time we visit. Lovely tea and cake, beautiful situation, spotlessly clean toilets too.

Great lunch. Wonderful staff and atmosphere

Lovely cafe and friendly staff. We stopped to get coffee after a good walk nearby. The tables inside and outside were all very well spaced out and the view of the river from the cafe was beautiful.

Nice spot for a really good cup of coffee. Outdoor heated terrace overlooking the River and onto the church. My sausage sandwich was perfect after a walk from Rydale.

Went in here with my daughter while waiting for the bus. Staff were immediately helpful and found us a table. We had a window view of the river out the back. My daughter got the ice cream which tasted lovely, I got an americano coffee. Came to a fiver which I thought was a good price. I had a nice experience here and I would recommend popping in.

We had the mozzarella paniek and my daughter had the scone. She thought it was the best scone she had in the holiday. The paninis were nice and the service very fast. Food and drink is really affordable.

Came here with my partner's family for a quick bite for lunch. I had the jacket potato with the homemade chilli and some cheese. It was lovely, jacket potato was cooked well and the chilli was delicious with a nice kick. It also came with homemade coleslaw which was nice. My partner and her family had different panini's and all said that they were lovely. Staff were friendly, would come here again.

Lovely place right by the river. Had a chat with Jill, owner, re the history of the place, and she is delightful. Scones were great (not hard!!)
A gem of a place, especially if you are lucky enough to get an table outside by the river!
