I love this place, definitely my go-to for certain books.
The staff are always friendly, polite and smiling.
I buy most of my hardback books from here and if I'm lucky, there'll be an exclusive edition that's signed by the author.

Every time, EVERY time I visit this place just to kill some time and to have a little look-see, I end up parting with some hard earned pounds (OK, just pounds 😂). Currently doing the rounds are facsimile comics, and they have such a wide variety of them from time to time. Only thing is they are priced in dollars and I feel the dollar to pound ratio is not the best.

The staff as well as fellow customers are very friendly! The store is nice and clean and so large too. There's a wide selection of products, from collectible toys to books to comics and games. Could have spent longer in here but only had half an hour spare. A must visit if you're in Town and want to get your "geek on" 🤓.

Great compact store selling everything you could ever want in terms of comic books, DC, Marvel, Star Wars, the list goes on. I purchased two Star Wars books I haven’t got which is fantastic as Waterstones generally don’t stock the latest ones. I wish there were one in Lincoln where I live! Will be back here if visiting Newcastle again.

New store is fantastic so much lighter and more spacious. Bigger variety of stock just a shame there wasn't a lot of Star Trek, wouldn't rate of down though since this was opening day.

The is one shop where you just have to go in when walking by. Even if I'm running late for something you can gaurentee I will still go in here and look around, even if I don't end up purchasing anything (which is rare). Staff are very inviting and greet you when you enter and say goodbye when you leave. Always amazing customer service and can't wait to go back (even though I've literally just been there...)

Big selection of Western merch, comics, games. Collectors pieces available here as well. Recent refurb means it's large and spacious, feels like a gallery! Similar style to London FP. Lots of manga selection and decent prices. Everything's neat and easy to navigate.

Staff transferred from the old shop are big with customer service with some remembering your name even if it's been a long time since you've been in. Awesome people and easy shopping experience.

This place is a comic on and anime one all in one. It has comics statutes, books from Japan, and filled with people who are only there because they appreciate the stuff in there. Honest, photos signed by celebrities, and a basement full of such niche literature from manga land, it's unbelievable that it exists. I bought a comic where Dr who joined the next generation on the enterprise to stop the Borg assimilating the Cybermen. It even supplied a fan theory that the Borg were created by Vegr (from star trek the motion picture). Now that's niche. I also met my wife there. She had been shopping, and it was a convenient place to waste a few hours while she shopped for clothes.

AMAZING SHOP / AMAZINGLY FRIENDLY STAFF
I'm not from Newcastle but every time we visit my wife's family 'up North', the first thing my children ask is 'can we go to Forbidden Planet please !' . As soon as we get off the train , we always make a beeline for our absolute favourite shop in the world.
The selection of toys , gifts , comics , pop vinyl's and role-play games , is staggering.
When we first discovered this shop, we hadn't realised it had two floors . One of the staff greeted us as they opened the door . My wife is disabled , and it was such a breath of fresh air to be shown the level of courtesy and amazing customer service . All of the staff were so friendly ( they even had dog biscuits on hand as they are dog friendly - which our dog 'Dizzy ' thought was wonderful )
As we entered we were informed that there was a lift at the back of the store if we wished to go down stairs . My children's eyes lit up at the thought of more 'goodies' . My wife and I used the lift , while our children tried to beat us down stairs . When we got there , the kids had already immersed themselves in the racks and racks of comics and books . There's also a large section of all-age books and two large areas of sale items as you exit the lift .
This shop literally has something for everyone . My wife bought several American import paperbacks that she couldn't find anywhere else . Both my children got a mountain of comics ,anime , and Lego blind-bags. ( I even managed to feed my passion for Warhammer 40K with several 'Imperium ' magazines that no one stocks back home .)
There's so much to see that it's impossible to take everything in on one visit , so we were back in the following two days before we had to go home .
I read a couple of the most recent reviews before I started writing this and I noticed a couple of people had complained about the staff - which I would certainly take issue with . On our three visits , every single member of staff ( on both floors ) could not have been nicer . All the staff we encountered were super polite and super friendly , even though I couldn't understand some of the things they said , so my wife translated :-) .
Our son is 11 and is quite shy , but is developing a love of super-hero comics after seeing all of the Marvel movies The chap downstairs in the comics was so helpful. He asked what my son liked to read and who was his favourite characters , after what must have been at least 15 - 20 minutes , my son settled on several comics . The chap even gave my kids a handful of free comics ( apparently these were left over from something called 'free comic book day ' - Imagine that ! I didn't even know such a day existed !) That is very much what distinguishes this shop from anywhere else we've ever been , the depth of knowledge that each member of staff possesses and the passion each of them exhibit is breathtaking.
I've rambled on long enough but my children are looking forward to visiting their 'gran' in the summer holidays . To be honest , I'm not sure if their sudden enthusiasm is for visiting their gran or a chance to revisit Forbidden planet ! I have my suspicion I know which it is !
