THE hotspot for heath fritillaries in the South East corner of the UK. Perfectly managed for this species in regards to landscaping and flora introduction. We visited 15th June in hot, sunny conditions and saw a multitude of these butterflies. Small carpark, but spaces on the adjacent lane. A beautiful and tranquil oasis.

This is a beautiful woodland area. There are numerous paths to follow each pass through an abundance of trees and flora. You feel miles away from the city and hustle and bustle. Highly recommend a woodland walk to breathe, be mindful and have a time for some escape.

Very muddy in parts but a delightful walk. The changing seasons make it different every week.

We had great fun walking of the tracks and getting lost. (They recommend you stay on track) but there's nothing like sitting among the fallen trees, as you brew coffee from a mokka on a little stove.

Beautiful woodland especially in Spring with the bluebells and wood anemones being some of the best in the county. Nightingales can be reliably heard singing in season and heath fritillary butterflies can still be seen if you are lucky. Word of warning though, it can get very muddy so wellies are needed after heavy rain and in winter.

Took our year old boxer for his first visit to the woods, he loved it and so did we. We will definitely go again, only 1/2 an hour from home...

At the moment the car park is closed but a few places to park at side of road near entrance Its was lovely. The dogs really enjoyed all the new smells.
Saw some wild Heather clumps about which was delightful to see, keep an eye out for the large ants and nests.
Didn't walk too far but will explore more next time.
Added some pictures to show wood.
This is no reflection on the woods itself, but the fly-tipping was an awful sight we saw three sites Garden waste, broken garden furniture, children's toys and a fridge!
Would recommend we loved it 😀😀 🐶🐶🐶
I set you a challenge as to where the tree with plaque is, as pictured!!

Lovely place to get away from it all. The trust has spent a lot of effort to make all the paths accessible during the winter muddy season. Hats off to them!

Beautiful woodland, extensive footpath network and accessible parking. Wellies are a good idea as some paths can become flooded in winter.

A great addition for those planning walks in the area.
Also a great day out for anyone living in the Herne area as trails lead straight out of the village to this woodland!

This is a real gem of a wood, a bit sparse at the east end since the storms but the western end has not been affected as much.
