Ordered online to collect as we were passing through to go to our campsite after a day out and when we arrived it was ready right on time, we drove a further 10 minutes parked up and got into the caravan and the food was still fresh and delicious.
The staff were great, really polite and made the experience that much better.

Awesome chippy. Was a busy Saturday night but I appreciate the extra mile they went to for gluten free meal when their gluten free days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Great tasty meal. Will be returning again.

Quite possibly the best chicken nuggets I've ever had... especially, with the gravy. Everything was cooked fresh. If you're staying at Forest Holidays in the Forest of Dean, you have to try this fish and chip shop. Definitely worth a visit

Friendly staff and delicious food! Picked up as a takeaway whilst visiting the area. We ordered on one of their gluten free evenings and they were very conscious of the safety aspects. Definitely recommended

From Bristol staying at the forest of dean. Husband coeliac. Found this place online after searching gluten free on google and visited tonight. Omg it was lush!!! Al was fantastic, explaining how they handle gluten free orders...proper put my husband at rest (thanks). He went above and beyond. So friendly to us, chatting about our home town and yet every person that entered the shop while we waited, he made to feel they were his only customer. Really lovely person. Food was banging. Pricing very fair considering the price of potatoes and fish these days. Al even hand wrote a list of places we could visit with our dogs nearby. I worked in a chippy in Bristol for like 20 years and have to say hands down, your locals are so lucky to have you. Decent food, decent prices, outstanding customer service. Al has the chip shop art/craft down to a tee!! Can't wait til we're back in November . Thank youb

Just lovely. To the person who recommended the chicken nuggets.... Absolutely the best I've had from a fish and chip shop. The fish and chips was lovely too.

Went here as we were staying in ellwood fc. Wanted really onion rings but as it was a Friday they didn't do them, but when he could see the disappointment on my face he went out of his way to make them for me, they were very much greatfully recieved and enjoyed, they were well worth the time that was made. We will definitely be calling again when in the area as everything was excellent, fish & chips, curry were enjoyed by us all. Portions were generous. They were better than the tram stop which we had had they previous week.
Thank you once again.

Stopped her in the car to have fish and chips. I am from up North so very particular about my fish and chips. This is the best fish and chips I have tasted in the Forest area FOD. Also very good service and they took my waste boxes back and recycled, so great food and environmental.

Not only was the food beautiful and all cooked fresh but the staff were fantastic and very informative on how long food would take. Brilliant fish and chips cooked to perfection. The additional touches of lemon and a creamy tartare sauce made it the best I have had in a long time. Minor criticism, there were enough chips to feed three and had to leave most of them. Keep up the high standards.

This is by far the best chippy in Coleford. The fish was delicious, the chips were cooked perfect and the service was so friendly and welcoming..If youve never tried this place, you really must. Avoid the other one, 3 times we've had a rude experience with over cooked food. We've never had a problem with Al's. Even better with all the new boxes and effort put in with the packaging, and the little extra touch of a lemon slice and pot of tartare sauce with the fish. Very impressed

Pre ordered our food last night but was running late to get them. When we got there we apologised for being late. The guys there couldn’t do enough for us, they did our food from scratch again as they said the order would of been sitting there for too long. Fantastic service and the best chippy ever. Thanks so much again and can’t wait to come back soon.

The last night of our stay at Forest Holidays and we thought let's have a lazy evening. Looked up takeaways on the Internet and decided on Al's Plaice. Wow. What a great little traditional English chip shop. Staff we're welcoming and very friendly. As for the food, well we can safely say without exaggeration, this was the best fish and chips we've ever had. Perfectly crunchy batter. Moist succulent cod, and proper chips. Damn near good enough to drive over from Bristol for another belly full for sure. Am now sat on sofa resembling a pregnant baboon. So full but so content. Awesome grub 😀😀😀
