Jolly Postie

My recent visit to Jolly Postie in Royston left me absolutely delighted. Accompanied by my sister, we were captivated by the adorable and fun aesthetic of the place. What sets this place apart is the clever use of a post office van as a dining area, adding a unique touch to the experience whilst commemorating on longevity and history of the post office

For our lunch, we opted for the goats cheese pizza, which was an absolute delight. The flavours were rich and satisfying, making each bite a pleasure. We also indulged in some perfectly cooked fries and a selection of beverages, rounding out our meal perfectly.

The staff at Jolly Postie were friendly, checking in to see how our meal went, which I always appreciate.

If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by Jolly Postie for a meal that combines great food with a charming atmosphere.

Called in, it was very busy but the waitress managed to find us a table. Ordered a roast which came with a good amount of brisket but was a bit lacking in vegetables. The carrots were also a little too al dente for my liking. However it was very nice. The staff attentive and good atmosphere.

Six out of five stars!!! Super fun atmosphere and great food surrounded by friendly staff. I had the chicken & steak and it was amazing. I could stay for hours. Be sure to walk down the road to the Heath afterwards if you’re interested in a stroll through medieval history.

Fantastic little find on way home. The 4.3 stars is a surprise as the food was very good quality, very yummy (we had Sunday roast) and very reasonably priced (under £40 for two soft drinks and roasts). Had we had more time we would have stayed for dessert. It’s very quirky and different from most eateries which adds to the experience. Highly recommend.

Exceptional level of service, nothing too much of an ask. Fantastic atmosphere. The staff here are just brilliant, food hot and fresh and excellent value for money. I would give more stars if I could. A big thank you to grace for the kind and helpful service

Lovely place for families or groups of friends. The food tastes great and is good value. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting. But the best thing of all is the staff, friendly efficient service every time we visit. The manager took our wine off the bill last time because we had to wait for clean glasses when it was busy, we hadn't even noticed it was taking longer than usual. All the little things mount up to make this a local gem.

Had a lovely meal for my nieces birthday last night. Food was great, didn’t have to wait long at all. The waitress Izzy was very attentive and so friendly! Made the experience even nicer. We will be back

Came in with my friend for Sunday lunch. As a former pub cook myself, I do have high standards (my family would say I'm fussy!)
Service was friendly and quick, food was really good, lovely and warm. Great atmosphere, made even nicer by the very helpful and friendly Charlotte, who looked after us. I will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely experience. Xx

Visited the jolly postie with family yesterday. As always, food delicious, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. My daughter's burger was changed (she didn't realise it had sauce) no problem. A member of the group has a food allergy, they made sure they understood what the issue was.Highly recommend.

I go there regularly but today was exceptional the young waitress who served us was so polite and went out her way to make me and my client feel welcome. Food was incredible just a lovely place to be ! Well done to the young waitress today super impressed with your 5* customer care

Had a fantastic meal here this evening. Our meals were; ribs, goats cheese pasta and buttermilk burger and they were all delicious. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and empty plates all round. All the staff were so friendly too. Definitely will be going back!

2024 another lush meal fab service

We couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate my Sons 21st Birthday! There were 25 of us and everyones meals came out at the same time. Nothing was wrong or forgotten. The staff were amazing too and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you to all the Team for making this special night an amazing one. We will definitely be back!

Very tasty dishes. Lots of vegetarian and one vegan option. Really enjoyed. Nice interior and friendly staff. Update Dec 2020: very very tasty beetroot vegan burger! Well done! Update Dec 2023: excellent vegan burger and other vegan dishes, including dessert!

We had a great time the food was very good the staff very friendly and helpful. We were shown to our seats very quick and our drink order was taken and came fast . There is a lot of choice on the adult and kids menu my little girl had a pizza I had the chicken mixed grill and my wife had the butter milk chicken burger . All our food was hot and very tasty it was all good value for money.
The way the place is decorated is very interesting my little girl loved it I would definitely recommend coming here I live in Cambridge and will be making the trip back to eat here again

I shared a rotisserie chicken and we were so impressed with how much flavour there was in the chicken. My husband particularly loved the peri peri sauce too.
Quirky decorations with a lovely atmosphere, definitely recommend it.

Went for a birthday treat and my free bottle of birthday bubbly.

We visited on Sunday, 25th February for lunch, meeting up with friends as the Jolly Postie was approximately a half way point between Cambridge and Saffron Walden. We were not disappointed, our waitress, Grace, was super efficient and friendly and was not unfazed when one of our party presented her with a list of allergies to food, carefully checking with the kitchen that all was in order.
The food was excellent and well presented. We will definitely be paying further visits.
