Always a lush meal. Loads of food. So doggy bag it is. 100% defo worth a visit one of my best curry houses in shields.

Good food & great service. When we visit we always get a great welcome & shown to "our table".
First class everything & if you have never been you should try it. You won't be disappointed.

Great friendly staff good size portions🍽🍺. Didn't have too wait to long. I found the food too be first class. The chips were very nice the curry🥘 dishes were nice and thick great flavours. Would try again 👍

Delicious Traditional Indian Food, Pleasant Staff & Very Good Prices

Work every Spring and Aug Bank hols in South Shields, Over the years tried all the Indian Bengali restaurants, Im not easily pleased but the Star of India is fabulous. The Pickles are Great, Poppadoms Spiced Papads excellent and a good pickle tray as well.
The Tandoori goods are to die for, Rice is great not stuffed into a mould and microwaved, Just good fried Pilau. Curries great had the Tindaloo this time wasnt a nasty brick dust affair but silky smooth and Hot, The Tandoori Chicken was like in India good native Chicken. Cobra good pint as well.

The food is really good and very well priced. The staff are also lovely. We would go here again for sure.

Friendly place situated in a lovely restaurant lined street. Four of us all had different dishes all of which were very nice and spicy. The portions were massive and we were all stuffed to the eyeballs. Will definitely return.

Excellent service and generous portion size at a very competitive price. Wasn't 100% with one of four meals ordered, they replaced it with a more expensive one. Will travel back from Newcastle especially for another meal.

Excellent food was perfect and lots of it. Could not fault the place, staff were great too.

Best curry we have had for years. We have eaten in every curry house on ocean road and enjoyed some places but the star of India has proved to be the best. We have booked a table for next saturday and will book one every week from now on. The staff are very polite and make you feel very welcome. I would recommend this indians to all my friends and family 100%.

Excellent food and staff. We all ordered from the set menu. Excellent qualities for the price, even took a load home with us. The bill came to about £100 for the seven of us and that with a few cokes and five pints.

At the moment it's the best Indian on the strip. As a food critic of 25 years I can say that hand on heart.

Birthday curry for four. Good food, good service and reasonable price. Been open since 1963!
