Geek Retreat Newcastle

A amazing place, with super meals, desserts and drinks. Everytime I have been to this place, the food has been more than satisfactory, great portions and good deals.

The names of food/drinks to buy are alot of the time the same as superheroes/villains, for instance they have a coffe called "The Punisher" its name is not a joke 3 shots of coffee with optional milk it's a amazing.

The desserts, or as they would call then "sweet treats" are delicious and very well portioned, the mighty ice is great I will always get one the only problems I have with it is that they have M&Ms in there and they get frozen from the ice cream which make the ice cream harder to eat, but now I just ask for one with out then so it's way better.

And finally the milk shakes... I love the "chocolate thunder" a very chocolatey, very sweet and very nice tribute to the very unfortunately named superhero.

Stopped in today and ended up getting some food and drinks and staying a while. Food was really decent for the price with generous portion sizes. The milkshake was delicious. The atmosphere was really good - a few folks were playing at a table and it felt friendly and pleasant. LOVE the inclusive toilet signs and the provided hygiene products- a wonderful idea which felt non judgemental and discreet. Will definitely be coming back!

Lovely staff with a good selection of food and drink on offer, one of the best safe spaces for all gamers and nerds alike with different events on almost everyday.

Awesome place to go and relax and meet like minded people into card games and things of the sort (YuGiOh, Pokemon, MTG, etc.). The staff are always very friendly and willing to help you out!

Plenty of drinks and quick food options as well if you're staying for a while (Card gaming or DnD).

They also put on competitions and events from time to time which are great for finding people with specific interests and for theory crafting decks.

10/10 location for all card collecting and playing fanatics!

The best place in the city for easy access to other tabletop RPG or TCG fans, with plenty of tables available to play at. There are games provided if you just want to hang with some friends or weekly tournaments for Magic the Gathering and Pokemon TCG (a registered Play! store as well). Not to mention plenty of stock of said games to expand your decks. Just a great spot!

Cannot fault this place my 10yr old was absolutely accepted and welcomed here. The staff were brilliant and people were so helpful and explained their games to my son and treated him as an equal rather than an annoying brat. The shop is well stocked clean and I wish it was closer to my home as we would visit more often.

great little store, i messaged them about keeping me some lorcana items back on release day due to work and they did this no problem for me, i'll 100% be back to buy more!

I absolutely love this place. The food is good l, that martian manhunter milkshake is an absolute must buy for fans of Oreos and mint choc ice cream. Staff are friendly and they have great prices. I'll definitely be coming back again. More than a few times I think. A lot more

Great place to have a bite and play games with your family, friends etc.

Found a hard to get expansion for one of our games here at a good price and the missus and I had a very nice Panini and cup of tea each. Atmosphere OK apart from the open door onto the street which unfortunately is right on a busy bus stop so get people sheltering (and smoking) from the rain.

Was running low on TCG energy cards and popped in to see if they sold any at their Newcastle store. Lovely atmosphere with loads of people playing different games from Yu-gi-oh to magic. The staff gave me a few energy cards, kindly, for free so I feel like the least I could do is give them a really lovely review. Definitely go down if you love anything card games! Thanks guys :)

I'm a regular customer who has felt incredibly welcomed by all the new atmosphere staff since Covid. I am most excited when I order my usual cheeseburger and see that Craig is making it. Everyone does it good but that man makes a mean burger combo

There isn't a better place to go in Newcastle for Card games such as magic the gathering or yugioh. in my opinion its a friendly place and the staff are amazing, one of them offering to help me count a few 2 pence for a card(im poor ok) and the food is good but there isn't a very big selection. The staff are especially good at dealing with situations as once a man who was clearly drunk entered the building they calmly escorted him outside. The people who go there are also just as friendly as the staff and even offered to help me and my friend learn the ropes of yugioh a bit more than we did. However there can be a bit of a foul smell when you first go there but in time it goes away as you get used to it. Overall its a wonderful place that all geeks should think of visiting at some point in there schedule

Absolutely brilliant place. First time visiting with my son for his 13th birthday. Great day playing D&D. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff.

Been coming to the store for years and have to say, the last year has just been improvement after improvement. New staff, new floor and new stock just shows how my work went into this place over lockdown, and the improvement is astounding. Bottom line is, amazing place just to hang out with your friends, or even make new ones.

A great cafe that caters to card game players, they let you spend as long as you like there if you order at least one thing. Nice cosy place to grab a coffee and play some games with friends.
Try their milkshakes on a hot day, they're to die for.

Great chilled atmosphere on Thursdays for weekly Yu-Gi-Oh! Events. Stores TO Ryan makes it an enjoyable experience and helps keep things running smoothly. Heavily recommended for anything Yu-Gi-Oh! based.

I play Magic the Gathering here on a regular basis. The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is great. Everyone is welcoming. A great place to fulfill your social gaming needs!
