Amazing boutique local restaurant, with only a few tables (reserve in advance!). Exquisite food of high complexity, texture, flavour and using both local and foreign influences. The host gave us a fantastic experience, he customised the menu to suit our needs, gave us tastings of wine-matching (even though we weren’t doing the degustazione menu) and altogether went out of his way to make it a special evening. This place is great! Moderately-high pricing but worth it €€-€€€

A Must-Visit Culinary Gem in Cortona!

Discover a treasure trove of flavors at this incredible restaurant in Cortona. Our experience began with a complimentary glass of Tuscan wine, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal.

We started with 3 bite-size complimentary starters first the exquisite Folie de Broccoli, featuring cerverie leek powder and fresh truffle, which exploded with flavor in every bite. Second, The Memory of a Tuscan Falafel, made with chickpeas and lentil flour, fried to perfection, and served with ponzu mayo and beetroot powder, was another standout starter. Third, The Salty Marshmallow with chia seeds and ginger gel was a unique and delightful treat.

For an appetizer, we enjoyed perfectly cooked asparagus, presented in three distinct ways, showcasing the vegetable's versatility.

The Pecci, with its dark noodles and rich spices, was exceptionally flavorful. The risotto with beef cheeks and peas was another highlight, offering a perfect balance of taste and texture.

The host Luis and chef Mattia are both talented and friendly, ensuring a memorable dining experience. Even if you live 5,049 miles away as we do, this restaurant is worth the journey. Just be sure to make a reservation in advance! If you eat there on Sunday you will not have to go to church, because you will be in Heaven. A place for royalty.

Absolutely amazing experience. The best place we've ever been in Tuscany. Fine dining at it's best. Luis is an amazing person and host, he made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. This place is truly special. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best meal I've ever had. Every single bite was so flavorful and delicious, Definitely opt for the tasting menu with wine pairings, you won't be disappointed. So happy we were able to try this place before they become a Michelin starred hot-spot.

It's a great value at €110 per person for the five course tasting menu with wine pairings. If you have the chance, definitely go here for dinner. The chef will no doubt be famous by this time next year.

When planning our trip to Cortona I came across this restaurant and the incredible amount of 5 * reviews. So I booked the tasting menu plus wine pairings for 8 people.
The 5 * reviews are accurate.
This is a beautiful restaurant with service and food to match.
The tasting menu is without fault as is the service provided by Luis and his team . One of the group has had about 15 tasting menus in several countries and pressed Al Tocco as the best ever.
Luis also arranged a taxi to get us home- anyone who knows Cortona knows that taxis are a rare commodity so I advise to book early if travelling there.

Anyway, don't pass this restaurant for a special meal that you won't forget.

Phenomenal. Honestly one of the best meals I've ever tasted. The chef and all the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I recommend going for the full tasting menu and the wine pairing which were all exceptional. If you visit Cortona you must have a meal here or you haven't fully experienced what is on offer.

The team at Al Tocco did a phenomenal job of paying homage to the region’s cuisine while remaining unique and inventive. The tasting menu and wine pairing are lovely, but I imagine the a la cart options are equally brilliant. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This was an absolutely 5 star dining experience. The atmosphere was classy, cosy and warm. The host was so engaged, helpful and passionate about making our experience perfect. The food is intricate and innovative blending traditional and modern flavours. I highly recommend this restaurant in Cortona for a wonderful and enchanting dining experience!

Amazing dinner experience. We had tasting menu for four and were blown away by the beauty/ complexity/ taste and execution of the food. The truffle cheese mousse ( see photo) the marinaded lamb and the strawberry 5ways dessert have to get special mention. This young chef has to be visited. Oh and it has a great door!

Phenomenal. One of the top restaurant experiences I have ever had including numerous Michelin stared restaurants throughout the world. You cannot go wrong. I would strongly recommend considering the tasting menu.

I feel bougie saying this, but from New York, I have been to more than my fair share of Michelin Star restaurants. This restaurant exceeded the level of service and quality of meal and at a fraction of the price. Truly a memorable evening worth a trip even if you aren’t staying in Cortona. Chef even created 2 new dishes on the spot to give us a 7 course tasting on top of the 5 offered. Fantastic.

We came here because of the good reviews. The restaurant did not disappoint and we left loving Cortona even more! 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Cortona. We did not book, and were lucky to have a table, but I do recommend calling prior to your visit!

Chef Mattia is a genius, Michelin Stars must follow, and Donald is the most wonderful host. Couldn’t recommend it more for the hosting, food and knowledge of wonderful local wines. Thank you Guys x

I honestly would struggle to do justice attempting to explain the food adventure we were taken on with this impeccable experience.
The food was exquisitely unique, made to perfection, and presented as works of art.
The team were knowledgeable, attentive and professional.
The music was fine.
The decor is wonderfully tasteful.
The chef, clearly a master.
I don't expect to eat a better meal this trip.

Phenomenal dinner. We had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing. Every dish was exquisite. The staff was incredibly friendly and the chef also came by the table to chat. This is a relatively new restaurant in Cortona but incredibly inventive, and also reasonably priced for the quality of the food and the ambience. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Cortona. Grazie Mille per Tutto!

Had the 5 course tasting dinner with wine pairings and my husband and I had to agree that it was the best dinner we have ever had in Cortona. We have been to Cortona many times and for extended stays and have tried every fine dining restaurant but this one far exceeds expectations in terms of presentation and taste. The chef, Mattia, a master chef, is phenomenal and professionally trained in London and has brought a gourmet experience back to his hometown like no other. I highly recommend this restaurant!

The best meal we had in Italy! Went twice it was so good. The service was great and the food was amazing! Inventive and delicious- which doesn’t always work. A must go!

A wonderful tasting menu experience. The pictures don't do this justice. Everything from the pate, to the duck was a taste sensation. Tasting menus are the best and this is a goodie. The owner and chef is lovely, as are the staff. This would be hard to beat in London.
