Catalyst Seafood Restaurant & Lounge

This place is awesome. From its location on the water to the authentic feel of an actual seafood joint. The staff was the friendliest, the atmosphere was outstanding, and the food was second to none. I have enjoyed seafood at industry staples from New Orleans to the East Coast, and Catalyst has a place among them. 5 stars!!! ***** out of *****

We were seated quickly. All the staff was working efficiently and the place was buzzing with patrons. Though it was busy, we were greeted quickly by our server and able to order our drinks. I then ordered an Oyster Shooter, and we gave our waitress our dinner order. The Oyster shooter was delivered after a short wait, it was a large oyster, which typically I prefer small or mediums, however, this large surprised me with how fresh it tasted! The cocktail sauce it was in was also the perfect amount of spice! My son's dinner salad arrived shortly after and was a beautiful green mix, with cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. All was crisp and fresh. Dinner was served. My daughter ordered Fish and Chips, it was AMAZING! My son ordered a whole crab, it was HUGE! and I ordered the fish tacos, they were DELICIOUS!

Came in for a birthday dinner. We got lucky & found room in the lounge. I didn't go crazy with drinks, just a couple of beers for me & the birthday girl had a damn good-looking bloody mary.

I opted for the Top Serloin Oscar. It was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. Good lord, I swear I was given more crab than steak. The sauce was spot on, potatoes were as expected & the veggies were a 10/10. Hands down an incredible dish!

The better half opted for clam strips and salad. I don't do clam strips, but apparently, they were very tasty!

This was the best food on our whole trip up the coast. The fried oysters and the clam chowder was amazing. I have been craving it ever since we went. The staff was very friendly and it was a very cute and packed place. I will be back some day, Thank you!!!

Amazing place to stop and have great seafood! We had a big party and accommodated us quickly! Emma was an amazing server, great service and super nice! The food was so good we had to come back for a togo order the next day! Thank you for having us!

Everything was amazing. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was comfortable. They were playing good music. I had paid for clam chowder at a different establishment the night before and it was horrible. Catalyst made up for that with some delicious Clam Chowder. I also had the flash fried calamari that was great and the Fettuccine Alfredo with Crab that was mouth watering! Thank you so much!

Been there twice in 2 days. Both times the food was great, as well as the service. Every crew member was extremely nice.
First trip I got steamer clams, chowder and fish n chips. Best steamer clams I’ve ever had. Chowder was delicious. Nothing overly exceptional about the fish n chips, but they do use really good fish. All food was hot! Wait time was a little long, but nothing I didn’t expect as they were SLAMMED busy. And the bartender really knows how to make a drink!
Second trip I got the loaded bread bowl. Super delicious, really hot, and super filling. I highly recommend this place as it’s our new go to when in Brookings. I think the people with the recent negative reviews should give this place another try, since they all come from holiday weekends, when they were super busy, and you never really know what’s going on in someone’s life?!

Stopped here on a Thursday night on a whim. We ordered Deep Fried Calamari (HUGE PORTION for two), Grilled Shrimp with a cup of Clam Chowder and the Rockfish Tacos special. Add the mango salsa too. Nothing was greasy. Everything was fresh and light. The CHOWDER was the best I have ever had. 10/10. The staff was great! Savannah was our waitress.

We will return!

Stopped for the night in Brookings and the hotel clerk tipped us off to this gem! Delicious food: I had chowder in a bread bowl with shrimp and clam strips, hubs had the surf and turf with grilled scallops—everything was so good! Great service, cute patio, and a really nice vibe here.

This restaurant is the hidden gem of Brookings. The atmosphere was lively, has a hometown look and freshness. You might miss, because it's not on the main road. If you are looking for the best clam chowder, creamy deliciousness this is the place. The (cod or rock fish) fish and chips not greasy, crispy hot and flavorful with the chowder on the side is a hit. The calamari was a mouthful of wonderful.

Roadtrip with friends, stopped here for fresh oysters, fish and crab.

The food was delicious. I had blackened fish and my husband had the best sirloin burger he has had in a while. Highly recommend this restaurant

Amazing seafood and great service! We ate lunch here (fish and chips) and enjoyed it so much that we came back for dinner (clam chowder). Amazing service! Christina was wonderful and gave us great menu recommendations and the clam chowder Eloy cooked was amazing. Highly recommend- we will be coming back every time we visit Brookings!

I honestly would drive10 hours Round-trip just to eat at Catalyst . For my birthday it’s the only place I wanted to go! When we arrived for our weekend away we ended up eating there four times in three days! You can’t go wrong with any meal and I wish I could have some right now! The loaded clam chowder bowl is amazing, the rockfish is amazing! The entire menu is amazing there’s nothing that Is not amazing! Don’t waste your time trying to have seafood anywhere else!!
How do people say portions were small?? How much can one person eat? My husband is 6’ and 225 and he didn’t leave hungry.

I have been here on multiple occasions, and there are a few gems as far as customers' service goes, and the food (especially fresh caught) is worth enjoying.

Usually, in the evening we are either waited on Christina or Mariah. Both wonderful! Sometimes we even go for lunch on the weekends and our bartender Taylor is always great. Occasionally we go on the week days and Emily servers us, also wonderful.

If you're in the area, you should give it a try, best seafood in Brookings!

Popular place. Had to wait about 30 minutes for a table so we walked over to the boat docks. The food was great. We both loved the clam chowder. The shrimp was fresh and crispy and plenty of it! Fish tacos were also delicious.

If you've never stopped before, this is a must stop. The food and service was absolutely amazing! We'll definitely be returning.

These guys were awesome! Lots of people ( because the food is unparalleled) a little wait ( bout 10 min) they called my phone to accept reservations and we were in! The staff was hustling and getting food out flawlessly. The food portions were great, price were comparable, very nice job guys.

We wanted some good seafood and we got some good seafood. We fancied a hometown style fish restaurant and that’s what we got.

We thoroughly enjoyed it! I got a loaded clam chowder bowl, and my wife got the regular clam chowder bowl.

The regular was definitely better than the loaded with the shrimp/chowder ratio being quite far off, however the flavor was exemplary and creamy.

I would highly recommend this place, moderately expensive and fantastic service!
