Endodontics Unlimited - Dr. Joel B. Slingbaum

I had a root canal done by Dr. Slingbaum yesterday and I'm happy to report it went smoothly. I'm very pleased with the whole experience, from Lisa who was so helpful in scheduling, to Sharon who was Dr. S's assistant during the procedure, to Dr. Slingbaum himself. He answered my questions, I felt confident that he knew what he was doing, and today I'm relieved the root canal was not a torturous deal; instead, I never felt any pain (except for the x-ray plates that are too big from my mouth) and it all took about an hour and a half, and afterwards I went to the grocery store. Based on my experience I can definitely recommend Dr. Slingbaum.

Just finished a root canal with Dr. Slingbaum and it went very well. He is very professional and his staff is great too. Pain was minimal and I felt like I was in very good hands. He gladly accommodated a special request I made of him, and it was appreciated.

In regards to the other review about the Dr not having a good bedside manner, he is definitely not a fluffy bunny kind of Doctor, but he is very professional. We all have to remember what Doctors and business owners have to go through with increasingly terrible patients/customers. We have as much of an obligation to be good patients as that have to provide good service. That said, I believe it is important to put dental patients at ease and Dentists should always keep that in mind, especially later in their careers.

the star of the show is Lisa who is the person answering the phone at the Miami office. she went the extra mile scheduling me to my convenience. well done Lisa. she's a gem.

Dr. Slingbaum is a real pro. I was pretty nervous about my first root canal, having heard about how painful it is. He set me at eas very quickly, was extremely professional, and quickly got to work. 40 minutes and zero pain later, he was done. He's obviously done this thousands of times, and his experience showed. Highly recommended.

This is the only endodontist in the Keys and he certainly takes advantage of it. The office doesn't accept any dental insurance and charges rates up to 3 times what is normal anywhere else. The endodontist himself doesn't actually live in the Keys. He flies in a few days a week and charges extravagant prices. As a full time resident of the Keys, I think its unethical to take advantage of the people who work and live in a small community that is lacking in options for dental care.

I just left Dr. Slingbaum's office after having a root canal procedure, so I wanted to write this review as soon as possible so I could advise the public of the exact details. I was absolutely appalled by Dr. Slingbaum's bedside manner. While he was numbing my tooth he became frustrated because I was moving. At one point he said in a rude and frustrated manner, "that's your problem you are moving too much." When someone sticks a needle in your jaw it can be painful and you may jerk, but not on purpose. He was extremely rude and had me in tears throughout the procedure. Not to mention the office I was in was missing floor paneling and the instruments were not covered in plastic, like standard dental facilities. I would like to advise that if you are in need of a root canal, head to the mainland or another endodontist because Dr. Joel Slingbaum severely lacks patient compassion and medical professionalism.
