Smathers Beach

This is one of the few beaches on the island and the view is amazing. It's a great place to watch the sunrise and relax. They have parking close by and bath houses conveniently located with showers to rinse off after being in the water.

Envision a pristine beach, where powdery white sands meet the turquoise waters of the ocean. The gentle rhythm of the waves creates a soothing melody as they caress the shore. Palm trees sway in the breeze, casting dappled shadows on the sand, providing a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The water is so clear that you can see schools of colorful fish swimming beneath the surface, while the sun dances on the water, creating a dazzling spectacle. It's a scene straight out of a postcard, inviting you to dip your toes in the water and bask in the beauty of nature.

Amazing beach to just sit in the sun or under the shade of the coconut trees. The waves are calm enough for us to swim with ease. When you get into the waters, do watch out for really sharp stones and rocks. I wish they get these off the waters, as they can cause serious lacerations to the feet.

This was an amazing beach and I spent the entire day there. The water is pretty shallow so it’s very safe and perfect for water activities. There are bathrooms onsite. You can rent kayaks, jet skis, etc. The beach is free but the chairs do cost. Putting a beach towel down under a palm tree was cozy enough. Also you MUST watch the sunset here, it was very beautiful.

The perfect place for a relaxing beach day! It's a nice dandy beach with blue-green waters and palms. There are chairs and umbrellas for rent (I highly recommend!) For about $20 a day you can rent a chair.
We will definitely back!

Nice beach. There were chairs for rent.; sold drinks and snacks as well. Clean restrooms with several stalls. The water was clear and pretty and still warm in November. No shells mostly rocks and coral material. Very pretty scenery (when the sun is out) and quiet.

Loved this little treasure, although it's under heavy construction at the moment *November 2023*. We parked and walked across the street and noticed it's a smaller beach with less people which is definitely a PLUS at times on vacation lol! Sometimes you're in the mood for a beach with crowds and other times you just want to be left TF alone. Smathers is a perfect spot for being left alone, soak up the sun, and do things without crowds. Only cruised through, had limited time and still managed to get pictures walk along the sand and see the beautiful water . Another great beach for an afternoon of fun in the sun or perhaps sunrise/sunset 😀

Nice place to relax with amazing water and some great Watersports to do nearby. I highly recommend getting a hobie cat; they are so fun to have a burst on around the beach with the high wind.

Great beach that we visited on our last day! Clean, no seaweed, had chairs and umbrella that were attended by Paul. Great views, powdery white sand! Perfect last day but we’ll be back!

As far as I know, this is the best beach in Key West. We easily found parking across the road. You can hire beach chairs, umbrellas, and kayaks. Alternatively, you can use coconut trees for shade.
There were great ablutions on the beach and one can swim easily and safely. We went back there the next day!

Gorgeous, relatively clean and quiet beach. Popular wedding spot, witnessed 2 while visiting. Great place to watch a sunset.

I was here last week. We just loved the sandy beach and water. It was clean . Definitely worth exploring if you have kids who want to play at beach . It’s not very crowded .its a pleasant place

Beautiful beach! So happy we decided to get married on Smathers. Loved the location and beautiful water & sand.

Small beach but nice to sit and relax, there are also some tables that could be great to have a ocean front picnic!

Great Beach especially when the wind is blowing from the north. On those days, the beach is sunny, the water is calm and clean, but sometimes a little cool. When the wind is from the south it blows in a lot of weed, silt, and waves, which make the water kind of gross

I prefer Smathers Beach over Higgs. This beach was more quiet and cleaner. Overall a decent beach. There are restrooms and an outside shower area to rinse off. There is an area to rent kayaks, paddle boards and other stuff for water activities. There is also a volleyball court. There was some construction along the beach which makes hard for parking but didn't affect the beach itself.

Nice white sand beach, was a decent amount of seaweed though.

Great long beach to walk, clean, beautiful white sand, public restrooms and chairs to rent by the entrance in front of the Margaritaville hotel.

Excellent beach at keywest who h is open for public. One can park for free or at a designated area with fee.
At starting of the beach they have set the shop for Water sports one can enjoy, Kayaking, sail boat, parasailing etc.
You can hire chairs to relax on the beach and enjoy pleasant weather and lovely winds blowing.
They have restrooms as well.
