Awesome history of the Virginia Railroad and the moving of coal from West Virginia to the markets at the Virginia shore. Any railroad aficionado will love the displays and the history lessons.

What a beautiful museum and so many things to see! First time visiting and my husband and I took our time to look at everything. What a collection! It spans two levels and has an elevator. There is a separate room with a fantastic model train setup. And this museum is well-kept with security cams everywhere to keep an eye on folks, which I can appreciate. The ladies who were greeting people as they came in were sweet and seemed to love being there. We took so many photos. If you are into railroad history and memorabilia, please check out this museum in Princeton!

Great railroad museum. It's a hidden gem. The staff were super friendly and helpful. This was the depot and railyard location of the Mighty Virginian Railroad.

There were two older ladies welcoming visitors. After they described the layout of the museum, we were free to roam at our leisure. There were quite a few artifacts, pictures, and displays of news articles describing significant events in the railroad's history. The second floor also contained a very detailed and well done O-gauge model railroad layout. A list of things to spot on the layout was available on a stand near the layout.

Stopped in here after walking the most downtown area up and back. Get pictures of the beautiful wall murals and old buildings. Well, I must say I was a bit worn out, so coming into I was asked to sign the visitor log. So the director of the museum (Ms Pat) and her volunteers were sitting around in old church pews . After signing the book, I saw a seat open and told them, "I think I'll sit a spell." Well, that spell lasted almost two hours, kinda reminded me of an old country store we're the locals would gather and share the latest town gossip and the history of the town of Princeton West Virginia. We shared stories and laughed, museums artifacts are fantastic and well preserved. Mostly through donations from local families and the railroad companies that operated back in the day. So worth the stop and see the history of railroading.

Very nice museum to visit. No admission fees but you can donate if you wish to do so. The staff are very friendly especially the guy who was building the miniature maquette. I forgot his name but will edit my review when I will find his business card. He's a genius. His work is fabulous.

First stop as a Harvest Host Member and the workers greeted us as if we were friends. The museum was full of interesting pictures and antiques. They also have an agricultural museum next to it that was full of antiques from the past. Had a wonderful time visiting with them.

Great by-donation museum, open on Sundays, perfect for a road trip stop with kids. Our 2 and 4 year old enjoyed it although there wasn’t too much that was interactive for them. Still, this was a wonderful visit, thank you!

Quiet little stop on our way back from our Moms' homes. The 2 ladies downstairs gave us freedom to leisurely roam the museum and read each article and description with the antiques and artifacts. We were the only visitors at the time. Upstairs, there were more interesting artifacts and information, but the thing that really amazed us was the tiny scaled down railroad town that had many places resembling their local town/area as it would have been years back. The train was not running due to a technical issue, and them waiting on parts. Whether it was running or not the art work and thoughtful process behind the whole piece was more impressive than pictures could capture. Outside was a caboose that we were able to walk through and explore. Although I loved having the time in the museum to ourselves, I hope the museum is more appreciated and explored by many others.

The staff is really nice and there is a wealth of information about both the railroad and it's relationship to the surrounding area. If you're a fan of trains, or history in general, I highly recommend a visit.
