Awaken Café

@awakencafe.az is a laid-back, beautiful spot to sip a drink while you reflect and the kids play. Located at Valley Presbyterian Church on McDowell, the cafe is open to the public. It's finally cooled down enough where the accordion glass walls are wide open and the indoor/outdoor space flows freely together.

The kids really enjoyed their bagels and cream cheese, but I savored the breakfast burrito. A local caterer provides them. It was a good size and filled with eggs, potatoes, cheese and caramelized onions. Perfectly light but flavorful.

The outdoor space is large with tons of seating, a grass yard, and climbing toys for toddlers. It was so peaceful. Definitely a spot to return to for reading, studying or work.

This is the best coffee shop in town. There is such a beautiful vibe every time we stop in. It's a little off of the beaten path, but it's so worth it. Evan, the manager and the rest of the team, are so helpful, knowledgeable, and passionate, The service is amazing as well. I believe they have the best matcha in town. You must give this unique coffee shop a try. I promise you'll love it!

Just enjoyed a Saturday morning Cars and Coffee event at the Awaken Cafe. ICYMI, this nice coffeehouse recently opened up on the Valley Presbyterian Campus. With a full selection of beverages, hot or cold, pastries and select breakfast items, it is a great place to start your day. With easy access, plenty of street parking and loads of seating room, inside and out, the Cafe is also a great place to meet friends for conversation. See you there!

5/5 Glad I stumbled on this gem post Camelback hike! The cold brew sunrise (OJ, vanilla and cold brew) was a surprise delight! I don't usually like fruit in my coffee, but this was really well balanced. According to the barista, the OJ they use isn't sweetened coupled with the vanilla and the cold brew instead of espresso, it makes her smoother, refreshing drink. Didn't even intend to get food, but the pastries looked too good to pass up (pistachio chocolate croissant?!) and a breakfast burrito was just the ticket after my hike.

Barista was also super friendly and chatted, giving me recommendations for other coffee spots and such closer to where I was staying in Scottsdale. So friendly and knowledgeable about coffee and the local scene.

If I discovered this spot earlier in my trip, I definitely would've come back more than once. I could see this being a very chill spot to work remotely from. Worth the extra 10-15 min from Old Town for a quality coffee bar.

Cute spot, great for parents with littles because there is some toddler type play equipment on the beautiful lawn! Mocha was delicious. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, parking is around the side of the church building and there are signs which help. Will be back!

Beautiful coffee shop in a great setting. Connected to the church so not obvious & easy to find but once you do you’ll be glad you did!

35 countries, over 1000 cafes visited and Awaken Café is probably top 3 for me (for work)

Solid Internet, reasonable prices, nice and quiet, good temps, chairs without silly armrests. Square big tables that are stable. Bright and beautiful. Spacious. Charging ports everywhere. Impeccable staff and a really awesome manager.

Add a high protein meal for a decent price and I'd live here.

For work, I still haven't found a better location.

I found this place a couple months ago and it's well worth the trip. The owner is super friendly and his knowledge is very extensive with coffee and teas. He features the classic drinks that everyone knows, but also has his own spin on coffee and tea drinks. I have tried some of his creative beverages and they all have been delicious! Keep up the good work!

Wonderful coffee shop. Stunning facility, with beautiful renovations embracing “old Paradise Valley” with new modern architectural features (think original flagstone hearth plus massive collapsible glass walls). Coffee is delicious, seasonal drinks are fun, staff is friendly and courteous. Outdoor area is great for getting work done (great seating, quiet, good Wi-Fi) or great for children’s playtime (they have some kids playground equipment and a big grassy area). A hidden gem.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience every time I have been to this lovely oasis of a coffee shop. If you have time to stop by, it is a must see. Their bakery items are all incredible. The manager, Evan, was so kind and made the best drinks.

Awaken is an oasis in a coffee desert. Delicious drinks and a friendly staff that makes craft coffee approachable. Truly a beautiful place to enjoy a cup of coffee. While parking is ample, it can be hard to find. Park between Kiva Elementary and Valley Presbyterian Church and follow the signs. The shop is on the campus of Valley Presbyterian Church.

Great quality coffee! Park where you see the signs and you’ll find it no problem. The shop has a huge beautiful seating area with a small playground out front that my 3 year old loved so I got to drink my coffee in peace. Can’t put a price on that!

I LOVED this coffee shop. I had an excellent iced tea and my husband had a iced coffee that the manager recommended. He loved it. I will definitely be going back again.

Awaken is such an awesome coffee shop! I’ve gone in there many times to work and it’s never too crowded or loud and is super cozy. The manager Evan is very friendly and knowledgeable about coffee!
