Went here for a last minute meal. Didn't have to book. Wasn't too busy, friendly staff, nice layout, clean toilets, quite cheap! We had the burger which was amazing value for money at only 7 quid and it comes with chips and salad and it was AMAZING, one of the best burgers we have ever had! So, meal for 2 and 2 drinks each was about 30 quid so we were very pleased. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Arrived on a February Wednesday lunchtime with muddy walking boots and 4 dogs. Very busy - but made very welcome by locals and staff. Good beer and huge food portions. Lovely friendly vibe. Highly recommended.

Decent! Pleasant barmaid, good lager and doggo friendly! Fire was lit so was nice and cosy after a walk around the Shugborough estate. Nice, large beer garden. Felt like the heart of the village, which is always a nice thing to experience.

We've had 2 lovely meals in here in recent weeks. Food was very good, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The real ales went down with no problem at all. Really nice pub atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Popped in here for a drink and a bite to eat when visiting nearby Shugborough. Glad we did as the hot beef sandwiches were delicious and they have a great selection of beers. Staff were helpful and friendly and the place had a nice atmosphere 😊

Proper pub atmosphere with good people, a good selection of drinks to choose from and excellent service, and good quality, well presented, good value food too. The well balanced standard menu is complemented with a "Specials" menu which is updated every day. Friendly sociable regular local patrons inhabit this establishment (and other nearby pubs & bars too, it must be said) and add to the experience if one is so minded. Equally one can move away from the bar area to be undisturbed if that's what they prefer. A very pleasant beer garden and an amply sized car park only make it even more difficult to find anything to criticise!

Proper local pub, complete with locals, sat at the bar talking over a pint. The way pubs used to be and wish there were more of these little diamonds still about. Prices were decent, and staff were welcoming, as were the other pub users. We didn't try the food but the restaurant offered a good menu. Will be back again without a doubt. Very short walk from Shugborough National Trust over the Essex bridge.

Love the pub, especially the restaurant, and the staff are constantly helpful and welcoming. Always find time to eat here every time we visit our narrowboat. The meals are wholesome with large portions and look great when they reach the table, plus being hot. Choosing which three flavours of ice cream to have is particularly difficult! Returning soon

I had ham, egg and chips and there was loads of freshly carved ham with it. Chips were great, the egg was perfectly fried and the salad was fresh. A pretty much perfect meal! Service was friendly and timely and there was a great selection of ales too.

Excellent service, good hot food (plaice, chips and peas) and nice wine. Very quiet in the restaurant but the bar was livelier. Great value for money.

It was a very quiet rainy night when we walked to the Clifford Arms from the canal. There were just a few locals popping in. We were warmly welcomed by the lady behind the bar and my husband was pleased with the choice of bitters. The menu was standard pub fare and was reasonably priced. We both enjoyed our meals as always. The Clifford Arms is a regular stopping point when we are cruising on our narrow boat and will call again when passing. Definitely recommend to fellow boaters. The star of the night was the dog who was given occasional treats when standing at the bar! 😂

Really pleased with effort they went to with a simple meeting buffet to cater for vegetarians and plant based diets. Thank you.

Never a disappointment, very good selection of beers & quality meals at a sensible cost.

Had a couple of good night's in the pub didn't have any food so I cannot rate it although I saw other people's plated food and it did look very good

Lovely pub! Swift service even on a busy bank holiday weekend!
It's also dog friendly 🐕and if you have a well behaved pooch they even get free dog biscuits. Would highly recommend
