A wonderful camp site with great views to Mount Snowdon, nearby beautiful lake and riverside. We hosted our annual friends and community gathering there this year. Everybody fell in love with the location. Hosts Were really welcoming and organised.
We had some rain and midges in small episodes, however that did not ruin overall experience and our event. The facilities are well looked after. We will definitely book again!

Lovely location with a beautiful view of the lake and Mt. Snowdon. Very clean, quiet and have nice hot shower. Very well situated, short walk to the pub and paths to Snowdon ( Snowdon Ranger Path and Rhyd ddu) . A guy in bike comes and checks on us and make sure we're okay (and helped us to make a better fire 😅)
Really happy with the place and made our first camping experience great. Highly recommend this place and definitely love to come back here again.

Our family considers this to be the best camping spot in Snowdonia. Stunning scenery, and easy access to the lake. The campsite is impeccably maintained, featuring updated showers, and a major perk is having benches and fire pits by every tent.

Brilliant little campsite with a fantastic lake and well situated to climb the Ranger path up snowdon which is also by far the quietest path.

Good facilities but be aware of the midges in June!!

One cal out is this campsite is popular with school trips so you could find yourself in the middle of a teenage party.

There is a pub down the road and the circular 22k walk up snowdon and back down the Watkins path is stunning.

This is an amazing campsite at the base of Mt Snowdon with a beautiful ice lake which is perfect for sunset. Great family run pub who are always willing to help out. I would definitely recommend to people wanting to climb Snowdon and enjoy a few beers afterwards. The campsite is a 10-min walk from the pub.

Great campsite! One of the best I’ve been.
Very clean and well organised. The owners were friendly and accommodating.
The facilities included everything I needed. Clean toilets and showers with hot water. One thing to keep in mind, you will need to pay 50p if you want to use the hairdryers or the sockets in the changing room. So make sure you have some spare change with you.
There are sinks outside the toilets where you can wash your dishes, with hot water!
The parking lots are very convenient, and if you happen to set up your tent away from your car, there are trolleys that you can use to carry your things.
This is a dog friendly campsite.
The scenery is just breathtaking! You have Snowdon on one side and the lake on the other - doesn’t get any better than this.
There are trails that start from the campsite and plenty others close by if you are willing to drive a bit
Mobile signal is hard to get but if you are with EE you will be ok, they operate at the area.
I would highly recommend it and I am definitely going back there in the summer!

The best campsite in UK I have been. Lake view and sun set view. Cars parked outside the pitch. Luxury bathroom. But the check-in point too far away from the pitch.

Amazing campsite , in a beautiful location.
Facilities are all there with really hot showers , great after a cold dip in the lake.
The owner will come round for a chat on his electric bike, really friendly and makes you feel very welcome.
Cwellyn arms just up the road is perfect for a pint after a hike up Snowdon, and the food menu is top quality.
Will definitely be back

Perfect campsite! I camped here for 2 days this week (March 2024) and waking up to views of the lake, with the mountains in the background was breathtaking. Great facilities and the owners couldn't of been any nicer! Great place to start walks up to Snowdon, especially if you are taking Rhyd-Ddu or the Ranger Path, which you can walk to.

The most beautiful, scenic, quiet and grounding place I've camped at. The no music allowed rule is a great idea, or really allows for the sounds of nature to be heard. The man on his bike is super friendly and helpful, and makes sure you're safe and have everything you need to. Many thanks to all!!!

Stayed here lots of times in both summer and winter. Love it here. Man that owns the site is so friendly and always stops for a chat when he does his rounds. Toilets and showers are modern and have always been immaculately clean, even in the very busy summer periods.
Staff in pub are always helpful and friendly. Will always be my go-to camp site.

It’s a dream to 🏕 here, specially if you find a spot at the lake.
The facilities are amazingly clean.
There are separate toilets for males and females. All toilets are very clean, has enough hangers for your clothes to change and had hair dryers.
The site also has washing machines and driers, sinks for washing the dishes, and barbecue facilities.
The area was very safe and friendly.

Absolutely amazing place, definitely the best campsite I’ve ever been to. I was slightly skeptical about the no music and parking away from the tent but it made the experience so much better, I felt like I was wild camping! Facilities are great and get cleaned regular. The lake is gorgeous and evenings by the fire (they provide the fire pits!) were magical. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Excellent camping spot for a climb up Mt Snowdon and to enjoy Snowdonia. Great facilities and well managed. Beautiful clean lake and really dramatic 360 degree views.

Absolutely amazing place for camping.
Must be one of the best and well looked after camping places I've ever been. In here you will find everything you will need for your time in tent life experience. There is like 30 portable fire place pits together with picnic tables all over this camp. Also shower and toilets including disable access to it. They even have washroom for you clothes including few dryers. Also one of the staff members comes few times a day to make sure everyone have the time they expected to have. One thing I regret about this place is that we only stayed few days. Highly recommend.

Lovely campsite. Stunning scenery and right by a lake. Facilities are great and have everything you need. The gentleman who owns/runs it is friendly and always stops for a chat when doing his rounds. Was nice to have a familiar face to see throughout the trip. Felt like a very homely campsite and staff at Cwellyn Arms were helpful with advice re climbing Snowdon and routes etc. campsite is very close to start of Snowdon Ranger Path up Snowdon, coming back down circular route Rhyd Ddu (circular route ends at Cwellyn Arms so had a nice drink there afterwards). Would definitely come back. Seen some reviews about no phone signal- I’m with EE and had some, but my friend with Vodafone didn’t on the campsite, if that helps at all. No phone signal at Cwellyn Arms where you go to check-in to campsite, so if you’re travelling in more than 1 car perhaps arrange to meet there at the pub/check in location as no phone signal to ring rest of the group if unsure where to meet exactly. Thank you for a nice location and stay!

The most stunning location! Pitch up facing the lake if you can. Staff were lovely, man on bike was great, really friendly and funny. Facilities were faultless, large trolleys to bring your stuff to the camp. If you want the most breathtaking scenery and wild swimming then stay here!

There was so much to love about this campsite! Let's start with the location which is superb, right next to Cwellyn Lake and with views of the Snowdon Massif and woodland on one side. It's a picture perfect campsite and a must for water lovers like myself.

Swimming every day was a real treat and on one day, I had the lake to myself which was heavenly.

We were initially worried about the fact cars don't park next to pitches meaning all camping gear has to be carried/carted across whichever field you choose to camp in.

This however wasn't too much of an issue as there are huge trolleys available for guests to use for this purpose.

We chose a spot close to the lake, beside the river and despite arriving late on Friday night on a bank holiday weekend, there were plenty of options of where to pitch.

The campsite makes it very clear that it has a strict no music policy and no noise after midnight. Upon arrival, we were disappointed to find a couple in a prime location in front of the lake with huge spaces either side of them, perfect for pitching up in, but they were playing music.

We took one look at them and knew that despite the excellent view, they'd be anti-social and a nightmare to camp close to. This kind of behaviour really is so disrespectful to other campers and reflects badly on them - we love music and I usually always play quiet chill out music when camping - but only if the campsite allows!

With it being a bank holiday there were a LOT of large family groups which means a LOT of noise from kids and footballs. One big group also left their kids alone for many hours on end, multiple time, so they were just running around, screaming and causing havoc.

Not my idea of a peaceful campsite then, but that was more down to large groups not really caring about anyone else and leaving their kids to do whatever they wanted. Again, anti-social in my opinion, but then I do know I'm particularly sensitive to loud noise, and knew the site would be busy and full of kids given the weekend we chose to visit.

Those minor guest-related negatives aside, many other families were friendly, lovely and quiet with polite and well-behaved kids and by midnight, the site was largely quiet.

We slept exceptionally well 3 nights running and honestly didn't want to leave. The final day was blissful, watching people pack up early to get off, we hung around until late and experienced the true joy of this wild-feeling campsite.

I didn't use the facilities as I take my own camp loo and solar shower wherever I go - no offence to the campsite - shared facilities give my the ick no matter how clean they are.

We'll absolutely return, but we'll ensure we return out of season and will also double check to make sure there are no school holidays.

The owner was really lovely and stopped by on his bike multiple times and we had a good natter with him. The Kiln dried wood is expensive, but the campsite rules are in place and we adhered to them.

There are big firepits dotted around the campsite which are free for campers to use, which was lovely, as so many campsites these days don't allow campfires.

Due to the proximity of water don’t forget to take plenty of midge spray and protective gear. We were plagued by the little blighters and many campers were wearing midge nets and everyone was in long sleeved hoodies with the hoods up to try and protect themselves. The weather conditions just happened to be perfect for them.

We ate at the pub and the portion sizes were generous and the quality of the food was decent. When we return to the campsite, we'd also definitely return for a meal there.

In closing then, we loved the campsite, the owner, the vibe and the location - obnoxious people and excessively loud kids, not so much. I've given it 4.5* and rounded it up to 5* as out of season with less daytime noise, this would be the perfect campsite.

Beautiful camp site, amazing views of Snowden and surrounding hills/ mountains. Owners relaxed about arrival times and leaving times which really helps. Plenty of space, mostly without electric nearer the Waters. EHU available but limited and near entrance to campsite only. Road in to the campsite a bit dusty as cars go by. Did advise where EHU is upon booking but not easy to find initially when driving in, as it was busy bank hol weekend. Plenty of carparking but not directly next to tents but close enough. Trolleys available to take your tent/things to your pitch. No set pitch spaces, pitch where you want to. Main shower block is centrally based, 3 showers only in each men's/ women's area, may need to wait a little to use on Bank holiday weekends when busy but ok rest of the time. Laundry room, washing up areas. Eco friendly wash available in showers. We stayed a week and would go back again. Peaceful, no music policy. No WiFi/mobile reception at all, so you will have to talk to each other 😉. Unless you walk up the hill from campsite 15 mins, then low H+ mobile reception- may differ for other networks than O2. If not, reception varies within the general local area. Free picnic tables on wheels to use for yourselves and fire pits (wood available to buy at pub - £6 a bag) also- great bonus. First comes, first served basis but quite a few available. Plenty of walks on your doorstep without the need to travel. Local buses/ Train nearby too. There's even a walk to the local pub through the woods without the need to walk on the main road directed from campsite, as well as walks to the next village/s. The owner comes by each day on his bike to have a chat, check if everyone is okay/happy. Waters at side of campsite are great for a refreshing swim. A free pedlo available to use too. Dogs welcome on campsite. One minor improvement - To replace or improve toilet near EHU area, bit overgrown, not easy to get to some of the bins too. Main shower block is good. Would recommend/suggest to add some dog hooks too which would be useful near washing up area/ toilet area please.
