Ben’s bunkhouse was a lovely base for us to use for our short climbing break. The facilities were all very nice and very clean, the mattresses were comfortable, the showers were a nice temperature and the view is phenomenal. Rob the owner is very friendly and helpful and there is plenty of space in both the kitchen/diner and the lounge. All in all a lovely spot for anyone looking to explore Snowdonia.

Well appointed, clean and comfortable bunkhouse - would recommend!

Stayed here on a training course nearby and very happy with the facilities and quality.

Appreciated the little extra touches like towels, tea towels, soap etc.

The owner, Rob, was readily available and helped out with various things

If we're really splitting hairs I like a bit more control over the heating (I get cold easily) but otherwise perfect!

(I should add that Rob generously extended the heating at our request when we asked - thanks Rob!)

Ideal location for adventurers looking to climb and hike in the Snowdonia National Park. Very fairly priced and have everything you need. We rented out the entire Bunkhouse for a large group of us and was a fantastic few days!

Great facilities at reasonable prices. Real character but with modern and comfortable amenities. Rob was extremely friendly and very welcoming. He is also very knowledgeable as he is the head of the Llanberis mountain rescue. Full respect to him. He has a great little business that I whole heartedly support. I'm already planing my return trip. Try it. You will not be disappointed.

Great location and great amenities,
7 of us stayed on our annual winter motorcycle ride out and had a fantastic time, easy walk to the pub for food and refreshments and a great part of North Wales to get out on the bikes.
Hot showers, hot radiators, having stayed in numerous bunkhouses in the area I couldn’t really fault the place.
We will be back.
Thanks rob.

4 of us stayed at Ben's Bunkhouse for 2 nights (Friday 7th and Sat 8th March), expecting very basic accommodation as we have had at other bunk houses. Ben's bunk house was surprisingly well equipped!

3 bedrooms of 6 bunks each - we got a room to ourselves as it was off main season. 3 fantastic showers (the bathroom was refurbed in 2013) and a great communal lounge with a projector.

The kitchen was ridiculously well equipped - anything you could ever want utensil or pan wise, and 2 large fridges to store your food.

Rob who lives next top the bunk barn who has refurbished it all is also a Mountain Rescue volunteer - he gave us lots of tips on where to go and how long it would take - really nice guy and full of information.

The location was great - hidden away at the foot of huge hills and cliffs - we drove 20 mins to start our walk on Saturday to Pen y Ol Wen - aiming to bag 3 of the Welsh 3000s. Horrendously strong winds meant we cut it short then went back and watched a film on the projector with a beer!!

Rob advised against going high again the following day and told us of a walk up the quarry opposite the bunk house - really nice walk.

I would recommend the bunk house for groups or couple who want a good location to start walking and also good facilities - only £15 per night per person.

The pub a 5 minute walk away was good too - nice ales and decent food.

Great weekend break :)

We spent a wet weekend at the Bunkhouse during what can only have been the worst rain in July/Auguast 2012inSnowdonia all year. As we were 4 Scout Leaders and 7 Explorer Scouts eagerly awaiting to Explore Snowdonia and to especially walk to the summit of Snowdon. The owners invaluable knowledge of the area was second to none. Being a mountain rescue person he was all clued up as to which route now was passable. We arrived on the Friday and he had already been out twice to rescue someone off snowdon. We did venture out in between heavy rain during the afternoon and evening. He bought DVD'S around so that the Explorers were entertained (big screen to watch these off). He kept giving us up to date weather forcasts on the Saturday, he was fantastic. We eventually started up Snowdon in slight rain at 11.30, 5 1/2 hours later than planned. As we were ascending the miners on the zig zags we came across him on yet another mountain rescue, this time a woman had broken her ankle, he has to be the fittest person I know. Snowdon was awash with water coming from every orrifice, but the rain did stop and the views when the clouds broke were amazing, thanks to his knowledge this trip was successful and gave us all the bug to come back time after time after time. I am booking up again in July 2013 and cant wait.
