Forresters Bar & Restaurant with rooms

So let's get it straight. It is best to book this in advance. I was lucky enough as a single dinner to sneak in. This place is known as a French restaurant in the north of England. This is as close as you'd get. The food is well prepared and the service is great.
It is expensive but I felt my food was worth the money and enjoyed myself here and recommend anyone in the area to dine here.

French restaurant in Teesdale. Our first visit but was aware of it's reputation so keen to get there. Good menu choice of traditional French food. I started with French Onion soup which was amazing, the flavour was to die for. I followed with again a traditional dish, boeuf bourginon which was immense in flavour and quantity (a bit too much for me to finish - smaller plates please). No space for pudding. Other main shown was the lamb, again very tasty but big portion.

This place is my absolute favourite. It is the friendliest, liveliest, most fun little place, with delightful staff and the most divine food (I'm vegan). The rooms are spacious and well decorated with lovely powerful showers and tea/coffee/treats. I cannot recommend the Forrester's enough, especially if you are up for a night you won't forget in amazing company. Don't miss out!

Yes. A french-themed bar/hotel just a hop and skip from High Force.
Sounds very random, and well it is, but that's just the point.
So give in to the Parisian themed decor and say o la la to the delicatessen pictures and acknowledge you have friendly staff and a great bunch of locals to chat and drink with downstairs. I was a wayward stray from US/NZ and stayed there a night and had a great time thanks to the cockney and the french guy... as well as a cast of other characters. Thanks for hosting.

Well! If you disregard this Restaurant, you missed a good thing! Super friendly caring staff, fantastic choice of drinks and we'll the food really hit the spot outstanding. Thank you for doing it right.

Only popped in cause me brother got us lost but it was a nice pub only me and me bro were there but nice atmosphere

On our way across from Whitehaven I received a call from the owner asking if we needed to book a table at the restaurant that night. Unfortunately I said no. On arrival the only space left was 5.30pm the rest of the evening was fully booked which just shows how popular it is.
Nipped to the chippy to curb our hunger later on so great, but not as good as the French cuisine on offer in the restaurant..
The French theme appears throughout both the bar, restaurant and our room, as obviously the owners are from France.
Our room was well decorated and split up on two levels with the bathroom on the top attic floor.
This is great as it doesn't feel cramped and nothing felt as if it was jammed in.
The owner was really friendly and chatted to us as we had a beer outside after our arrival.
The Hudeshope Beck runs at the back of the property and whilst you can see it from there the best view I had was from the bridge a short walk away.
If you are visiting the area it's definitely worth trying to book here just remember to grab a table when offered.

The foresters provided excellent customer service and buffet for my Stepdads wake earlier in the week. The food for the buffet and service was outstanding.

So before leaving for home we decided to visit the restaurant for lunch.

We were welcomed with a warm greeting.

Lost for choice with an amazing menu. Lots of choice for everyone.

Everyone's meal was very well presented, tasted amazing and was really delicious. Great portion sizes which meant we need a return visit to try the deserts as we were too full Following starter's and main course.

I certainly recommend this restaurant and will be visiting again very soon.

Came here with my family on holiday they fitted us in last minute and we was grateful for that. Friendly service, nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. I ordered a steak bagette and chips and it was delicious

Dropped in for lunch after a very disappointing experience at the High Force Hotel down the road where it seemed too much trouble to serve us lunch in the shade on one of the hottest days of the year! Not so here. A warm and wonderful welcome, even though we were 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. Food was varied and not just pub fare. It was beautifully fresh and homemade and service spot on. Will definitely go again, highly recommend.

Myself and my autistic daughter have just spent 2 nights at the forresters and couldn't be any happier! The staff are amazing!!! My daughter felt so at ease with them, they made the weekend amazing so much she didn't want to leave. The room was lovely with really comfortable beds and the food was beautiful, it's my second time at the hotel and I will be making it a third xx

OMG I would give this place 6 or 7 stars if I could. When you walk in, it looks like a ramblers/walkers bar that would serve jacket spuds and chicken in a basket.... but in reality, this is fine dining at very reasonable prices. The chef [we believe she is French] is clearly passionate about food and puts an amazing amount of work into each dish. Exceeded expectations (despite it being highly recommended!), and we are planning to return before the year is out. The ambience/decor is rustic, the food is seriously impressive. Oh and make sure you ask for black pepper, it's really funny :D

Excellent food. Lounge area and bar area. The menu is the same, whether you eat in the bar or restaurant. Lovely rooms above. Plenty of coffee and tea provided in the rooms, to compensate for no breakfast. We supplied our own croissants to add to the Frenchness of the place, but there are local cafés serving breakfast. Friendly and accommodating hosts. We hope to come again.

Dinner for two at this lovely venue!, staff warm and friendly , the food very authentic and delicious, great service, I practiced a little French language with one of the owners , altogether a very enjoyable experience and good value for money , merci beaucoup

Lovely staff. Clean and tidy rooms (with a toilet lit by the gods above, see picture).
Dog friendly which was fantastic!
Great food and even better desserts.
10 minute drive to High Force waterfall.
If staying though, remember it is above a pub and there will be noise until the pub is closed. It's not very noisy but there is noise until gone midnight. Didn't bother us but worth noting.

Fantastic stay and beautiful food. I booked a room last minute and was give a very warm welcome from the bar staff and owner. The locals were super friendly too. I had a lovely stay and would definitely stay again.
