A superb stay at Hotel Du Lac. The service was warm, friendly, and on top of every single detail.
I love the location, very close to the action, but just a few steps off the main procession of crowds which made it feel much more relaxed.
The rooms were clean and comfortable.
If you are vegan, I highly recommend letting them know and having the chef prepare for you a vegan dinner. It was magnificent, and views could not be beat.
I will 100% stay here anytime I visit Varenna. It was just perfect.

We stayed at Hotel Du Lac for our honeymoon. The hotel is in a beautiful location on the lake and the view is unmatched! The staff are lovely, the food is exceptional (breakfast is amazing each morning) and if you're lucky enough to get a room with a balcony, you could sit there for hours. Cleanliness is good, very little noise and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend.

We feel so incredibly lucky to have found this gem of a hotel! From the moment we walked in we felt so welcomed by the ladies at the front. Throughout our stay they were super friendly and helpful! The location of the hotel couldn’t be any better. Tucked away but at the same time in the center of everything! Our room (the superior suite) was more than we ever wished for, the breakfast was plentiful, fresh, delicious and just in a magical setting on the deck over the water, and one of my favorite parts was being able to go for a swim right off of their floating platform!
Oh and the cookies!!!!

We had lunch here at the beautifully appointed terrace over looking the lake; it was a great experience. The service was top notch, the food was exquisite, and the wine choices were all very good. We spent a few hours living slow the Italian way. Highly recommend when in Varenna.

We loved our stay at Hotel du Lac in Varenna! The hotel is quaint in a great location, walkable to everywhere in Varenna and right on the water. Our room overlooked the lake with a huge balcony and couldn't have been a better choice for Lake Como.
Service, from the front desk to the restaurant, was extremely friendly and helpful.
Included breakfasts were also really great with a huge selection, as was the Tasting Menu at dinner.
Overall would highly recommend for coming to Lake Como!

A truly beautiful small hotel run by the most thoughtful team. From the old fashioned reservation system to the standing offer of help, you really could not ask for more. The breakfast is amazing and the dock/swimming platform was a cinematic place for taking dips. We had a room with terrace and the views were lovely rain or shine. Comfortable bed and impeccable housekeeping.

The hotel’s tasting menu at dinner is worth planning around even if you don’t stay - it was our best meal in our 10 days in Milan/Como and the chef has a gift for subtle and interesting flavours.

It must be said Varenna is very, very popular in peak season and it’s hard to get a table anywhere so book ahead. The hotel team are happy to help where they can.

Another note about getting around- the train and ferry systems do not provide adequate, if any, communication about cancellations. We were unlucky to have our week in Como bookended by a strike and a landslide that shut down the trains. While this is no one’s fault, we were amazed by the lack of information, despite buying tickets in advance, having the Trenitalia app, and checking the notices, and had to rely on word of mouth. The lake’s ferry system is also prone to cancellation without warning - on both days we checked, the fast ferry between Como and Varenna was canceled. No notice anywhere so you only find out when you go to buy a ticket, which you cannot do online or in advance. It’s a shame that it seems so hard to get around by public transit, but that was our experience.

However, this hotel occupies a magical space that feels a little frozen in time in the best possible way, sheltered from the bustle of the crowds and with a real sense of hospitality. Thanks again to all who hosted us.

Wow where to start! Amazing hospitality, the staff are so kind, they take your bags for you and greet you with smiles every time they see you. The room was immaculate 😍 so clean, so fresh and cool, so nice to come to after being in the sun! We had a balcony and it had the most amazing view of the lake with seats and lounge chairs. They clean your room every day which is lovely and stock you with waters and other toiletries. Breakfast is included but we didn’t try as we are not very much breakfast people; but I’m sure it’s lovely! Amazing location, so affordable, will absolutely be returning to hotel Du lac if we return to lake como (hopefully!)

My husband and I recently visited this hotel for 2 nights! We were blown away! The hotel was very nice and the staff went above and beyond with their customer service! Everyone was super friendly and accommodating! We hated to leave! They have a wonderful breakfast buffet that is included in the cost of the room. They have an outdoor patio that looks out over Lake Como and the other towns. I left a dress accidentally in the closet. I emailed the next day and they had found it and were going to email me about shipping it to me! We happened to be back in The area the next day and they had it ready for me! I cannot recommend the hotel enough! You will not be disappointed!

This was by far the best hotel experience we had on our Italy vacation! These ladies were on it and made us feel like we were at home. The food was great, location superb and the service was 6-star! Highly recommend this hotel for anyone who loves to be around people who truly care. Thank you team Du Luc!!

This hotel was my "splurge" during a three-day trip to Lake Como in October 2022, and although I've taken a long time to write a review, when I need a place for my brain to go on a difficult day, I dream of the view from my balcony at this hotel. The location is gorgeous and Lake Como is serene at night. I received such a warm welcome and good communication in advance from Susanna and Tatiana - and this continued once I arrived. Everything was flawless, from the cleanliness of the room, to the strength and taste of my negroni at their restaurant, to the selection of items at breakfast the next morning. As a solo traveler, it was a treat to visit Hotel du Lac just days before the end of their season and enjoy the calm. I'll be back if I return to this part of the world!

We didn't stay in the hotel,so I am unable to comment on the accommodations ( I gave them 4 stars as courtesy). This review relates to the restaurant. We stayed in Varenna for a couple of days, and while doing a boat tour, saw that the patio for this restaurant had a terrific view. We came to the hotel at about 1:30 pm on a Tuesday for lunch.

The food was very good (prices were not higher because it was a hotel), and the view of Bellagio was great. But what is most exceptional is that the crowds of people were not present. This made for a most relaxing experience compared to other parts of Varenna.

The best meal we had in Varenna with incredible, unobstructed views of the lake. Everyone was really friendly. They did get busy around lunch, but with such a phenomenal view, can’t complain!

We didn’t stay here, however we stopped for a drink and it was a beautiful setting. Overlooking mountains from across the lake was amazing

Great hotel with beautiful views of the of the lake and a restaurant. Service was perfect with a very welcoming team. Great breakfast service and facilities. Hotel is in a quiet area of Varenna so lots of tranquility.

We just finished our stay with our 3 daughters April 2024. Every single staff member was so kind, accommodating and helpful. The rooms beautiful and cozy, food and bar service excellent and location perfect. We already can’t wait to plan another visit. Thank you so much!

We had a lovely meal outside. This place is just heaven! The nicest meal in Lake Como!

Lunch on the terrace with a stunning view of the lake. Food was tasty and staff were attentive.

Absolutely amazing place. Service was unrivaled. Tatiana was particularly amazing and helpful! She helped us out of a jam after we had already checked out. I can’t recommend this place enough!
