The Maui Closet Company

I am a Maui interior designer who recently had the experience of witnessing The Maui Closet Company’s redesign of a client’s master bedroom closet. The renovation was a bit challenging because of the shape and size of the space (a long, extremely narrow rectangle with entry all the way at one end). Although I must admit I had some doubts about the ultimate success of the project, MCC came through in a big way. Both the hanging and shelving spaces increased by at least 50% while the ease of ingress and egress improved markedly. My clients are thrilled with the results. Given my exposure to what the company can do I certainly will be recommending them to future clients. The Maui Closet Company has earned my highest recommendation.

We contacted the Maui closet Company for an owners closet in our master bathroom. They did an exceptional job, were very responsive and worked well with our management company. We were highly impressed with the quality and professional manner in which this Company is run. The cabinet was exactly what we wanted and could not be more pleased.

Literally the owner and his team delivered and was very professional. My wedding dress is basically safe and sound where it currently is nesting. The team is very honest and responsive when it comes to concerns and ideas. I would try to them out if you’re looking for a great investment piece.

Maui Closet Company did an absolutely fantastic job for us. We had some ideas for three closets to make them to make them more useful and attractive. Debbie took our ideas and suggested several more things to make the design even better. She hit the budget that we needed to hit. The work was done on time and the craftsmanship is top notch. I can’t say enough good things about Debbie and her team which includes her husband Mike who also did a superb job.

OK, so I've had the closet done for a few months now and wanted some time to get a good idea of the pros and cons. First off, so that I don't repeat myself, this closet cost nearly $6,000. It would have been more but we elected to get our own hardware for the tilt-out hampers and pull-out pant rack. I went with this company because they are the only one on maui.
1) The quality leaves A LOT to be desired. When they were installing i noticed so many flaws in the laminate that was adhered to the particle board. They said this was "normal and standard". Some boards were replaced since I was unhappy enough with the quality that the installers agreed it wasn't ok to install. The installers were lovely by the way, as was our designers and everyone else we interacted with. The low rating comes from the lack of quality, quality control, and the "extra look"-meaning the way they install it does not give a clean finish as the whole closet is not flush and does not give a built-in look.
2) The "soft-close" drawers are more like "slow down and then slam shut drawers". which is funny and definitely a quality issue in terms of where the hardware is purchased from
3) Overall if I could have found a different company other than the only one on maui, I would've gone with them. I'm not entirely happy with the closet and regret the high cost. The "shoe storage" was also unnecessary and now I find it a waste of space.

Once again, all the people who work there are lovely, accommodating and hard working. It is just a sincere lack of quality and the high cost that makes me kind of regret saving up for this purchase.
