Kula Forest Reserve

This is a very beautiful area with lots of different trails to explore. It is a popular hunting unit so dress bright and be curtious.

Even in the rain it was beautiful. We hiked the Redwood trail and since it was wet there were some slippery spots but still a great hike. We stopped near the cabin on our way back and had a delicious picnic for my birthday. 😊

Long winding road to see the whole island, sunset on the ocean and all the stars in the sky.

I hiked the lower elevation of the park which is fill of trees. Was nice and calm, didn't seem to get much traffic.

WARNING: Hunting happens in this park so wear bright colors, or typical orange vests to stay safe!

Loved this place, you will be reminded couple times that you need a 4x4 vehicle. If it's very dry you might make it in a a normal car, but if I were you I'd walk there last bit, you'll see where to stop and park 😀

Beautiful gem, hidden on the middle slopes of Haleakala. Take a 4WD or something with high clearance, but only if the ground is dry.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. It's a shame that some visitors do not respect the 'āina and take their rubbish with them.

Cool unique and quiet spot to go. You can spend a couple hours hiking and not see anyone. It's at about 6000 feet so bring a jacket and be ready to hike in the clouds. The drawback is that it's quite a car ride to get to the hike. It's about 20 to 30 minutes past the Alii Lavender Farm entrance so be prepared for that if you decide to go. Have fun!

Beautiful place for a hike. Better to go early in the morning and not during rainy season. Easier to get there by a 4-drive wheelers always go with friends.Bring a jacket its very cold.

Beautiful, expansive park on the southwest slope of Haleakala. Pass by the lavender farm on the way up the switchbacks to the top. Arrive early and watch the paragliding. Park at the end of the paved road and hike back to the campground. Bring water and sunscreen. Amazing views of Kihei and west Maui.

We did the Waiakoa trail loop just off of Waipoli Rd. We met a very nice couple who gave us some pointers on what to expect on the trail loop. We took their advice and were not disappointed. If you are in Maui and looking for a nice hike this is it. No great Vista views as the clouds were hanging around but the sounds of nature were enough to keep us enchanted.

Super pretty place with awesome views! The pine and mountain views remind of the mainland, particularly Utah and Colorado. Hiking in the clouds was amazing as was picking and eating the thousands of plums along the dirt road! This place is truly spectacular!

You'll need 4 wheel drive to get up to the top and when you get there you'll see breathtaking views. It's truly one of the best views on Maui. STUNNING!
