The Shaka Guide told us to stop, so we did! Super easy and enjoyable loop through some beautiful cedars, pines, and eucalyptus. Great for the family to stretch our legs!

I did this trail after watching the sunrise at Haleakalā. It was short and beautiful. There are signs that label several of the plants. It began to rain, so where waterproof clothing and shoes. There is a parking lot and a bathroom.

Easy loop through the grove with interesting information on how so many trees were brought here forming the grove as well as the native (and non-native) birds that inhabit the forest.

Outstanding birding area. #1 on Maui in my opinion. Parking, restrooms, camping area. $30 per car for entry to the park. Nice paved road right to the parking area. Loop trail is short but yields numerous birds.

This is an absolute must stop if you enjoy nature and birds. There are a lot of native Hawaii birds that can be found here. I could have sat in a chair the entire day just taking in the surroundings and watching the birds. There is a campground and restrooms.

Before you go to the top of the Haleakala, which is more than 10,000ft, you better try this trail for adjust your body. Begging of the enterance, you will smell of Eucalyptus. It is look like garden of herbs. Highly recommend 👌

Short easy half mile trail with a nice overlook about halfway. It’s a good spot to see some rare Hawaiian birds many of which are unfortunately on the verge of extinction. There are some free binoculars built into the viewpoint and some benches to sit on.

Coming down from Haleakalā you should make a stop for a quick (less than an hour hike here). It’s a beautiful forest of non native trees. Essentially an experiment by conservationists a century ago to stop erosion by introducing non native tree species. It didn’t really work, but the forest is still very beautiful.

If you like birds and trees you must visit Homer Grove. Cool diverse second growth hosts some really cool birds. Short easy hike but bring layers. Micro climate conditions.

Great trail lower down on Haleakala for bird watching and a quiet peaceful walk through the forest. Highly recommended if you want to see Hawaiian honeycreepers and other endangered birds

Great area to walk through a forest at 7000 feet! Short loop, 0.75mile but very enjoyable.

Nice, quick hike on my way out of the park and on to Road to Hana.

Fabulous place to view many of the only found on Maui birds. Enjoy the silence and the moderate walk from the lower parking lot that returns to the upper parking lot. Restrooms at this spot are dry sumps( no running water). Be prepared and bring big wipes to repel mosquitos. Take a moment to enjoy the smell of the peppermint eucalyptus along the path.
Respect the boundary markers, and don't etch the trees! Rangers regularly patrol this area and will fine you!
First left past the entrance gate to the park.

Great place to see endangered birds, have a picnic, walk around. Trail is easily accessible and birds are all around. Didn’t see any birds in any other part of the park except here.

Limited parking and pit toilets. Bring warm clothes and be ready to stop and wait to see the birds. Well worth it to see rare birds, but you must be patient.

A nice short walk through the woods with tons of native Hawaiian birds! A must stop for anyone hoping to see some native birds.

Please, keep silent on that small trail! Listen to birds singing in the woods and other sounds of nature. If you'll be quiet, birds will come close to you.
