A feral kitten that adopted me started to rapidly decline and CMAC was able to get us in so quickly despite all the work they’re doing for the animals displaced by Lahaina’s fire.

I brought in a feverish, lethargic, withering kitten and left less than half an hour later with a playful, cuddly, happy kitten who had her appetite and energy back. Although I could never put a price on what a happy healthy animal is worth, I was still absolutely floored to learn what my total would be. The entire visit, exams, and treatment all cost less than I expected to pay for the visit fee alone. Furthermore, in selecting the “kitten package,” everything we needed was covered, and when we return to get her vaccines and routine care in a few weeks, all costs will already have been covered by the kitten package that saved her life today.

Took our dog in this morning after he got stung by a Portuguese Man-o-war on his mouth this morning. He licked and possibly ingested one while at the beach. Called while in route and was omitted upon arrival. They checked him out and determined he didn’t eat it based on his vitals and sting marks. We were discharged within 1.5 hrs. They gave him meds and is he doing much better. Gotta admit, given that it was an emergency visit I thought the tab was going to be a lot more out of pocket. Thankful Maui has a service like this. Our standard vet refers emergencies here and I now understand why. Thank you to the staff who took great care of my boy. Happy he’s ok

We had just a simple reason to visit the clinic, a health certificate to fly. However, from the first contact, the staff was welcoming, friendly and professional. We left with our needed certificate with really positive feelings sbout the staff. Top noche. We will certainly cond back.

I’ve been seeing Dr Curtis for many years now caring for our little Britnee. I trust him explicitly with our little girl!! I cannot recommend this clinic enough! From the moment we brought our puppy in for her spay surgery and eye checkup, we knew we were in good hands. But what really stood out to us was the exceptional level of care we received even after we left the clinic. When I had a health concern about my dog, the staff went above and beyond to provide me with valuable advice and support. Their kindness and compassion truly made all the difference during a stressful time. We are so grateful to have found a veterinary practice that not only provides professional, high-quality care, but also genuinely cares about our furry family member.

Due to the fire in Lahaina we have started taking our dogs to this location and have been very happy with the team at the central location. Appointments are readily available and the team is great.

I have a 17 year old wiener dog, he went into Anaphylactic Shock and I had no idea that was possible. When I brought him to this Vet, they calmed me down through the process and didn’t skip a beat to get him stable. I got updates and each time they were amazing. They did keep him overnight and had no issue with me bringing him his stuffed animal and a shirt of mine to help him relax.
This little pup has been with me since he was 6 weeks, it was a very scary experience, but this Vet and the employees there are outstanding and I felt 100% comfortable with him there.

Finally found a vet that correctly diagnosed my dog, Sophie. Dr Gehring was very thorough and compassionate during Sophie's exam. She recommended blood work and x-rays. We found out Sophie has congestive heart failure with fluid build up. Sophie was hospitalized a few days in oxygen and then returned home with several pill medications. She's so much more active and is back to her normal self again. I cannot thank Central Maui staff enough. Mahalo Dr Gehring, I can't thank you enough.

Unequivocally recommend Dr. Curtis Willauer at Central Maui Animal Clinic. He is a skilled DVM and provides my very dear 12 year old Maltese with acupuncture treatments to keep her pain managed from nerve damage in her neck. We have been patients of Dr. Willauer for nearly 2 years now. She is doing very well. We love Dr. Willauer for his skill and compassion.

Really impressed with the quality of care here — for both myself and my pet. Convenient scheduling and location. Nice, clean building. Overheard a lot of sensitivity regarding another pet who may have had cancer. Thank you for serving our island animals.

The staff is always friendly. I can only highly recommend their service and they are open 24 hours if you have an emergency. I specially appreciate the service of Dr. Curtis Willauer. He meets my needs of care for my two Tibetan Spaniels. His wisdom of natural and allopathic medicine and acupuncture has helped my four legged so many times.. Dr. Curtis has helped me to understand their behaviors when they get sick and made me a better care taker of the ones we all love so much. Thank you.

My husband and I inherited a stray kitten after the kitten's parents suddenly stopped showing up in our yard. We are not cat people yet we could not bring ourselves to take this kitten to the Humane Society given they were overburdened with various animals at the time. We got into contact with Central Maui Animal Clinic to begin getting the kitten the care he needed. The staff has been so very helpful and patient educating us about caring for a cat. We are so thankful to have caring people to help us care for our cat! Mahalo!

My cat was dx'd with mid-stage renal failure, but rapidly progressed and crashed resulting in needing an emergency visit and overnight stay. Though the options were limited, Dr. Nunan took so much time and patience to carefully review all the options on the table. We ended up trying to prolong her life, and it worked for now. She is still with me today, 6 weeks later. I consider them miracle workers. I was so worried my cat was going to die in the hospital overnight and they were wonderful about staying in touch and letting me call overnight to check in on her. They also went over DNR information and asked if I wanted her to be resuscitated in such an event so I could come to say goodbye. Everyone- the vets, techs, and front desk staff, were nothing but compassionate and patient. They sent her home with clear discharge instructions and teaching instructions for me for administration of fluids. She someday won't survive her renal failure, but knowing that we're doing all we can and giving her quality until then is an invaluable gift. We continue to monitor her with the staff and make decisions based on QOL. It feels like a team effort and I don't feel alone in making these tough end of life decisions. Though there is a price on the vet bills, it's actually hard to say what something like that is worth when your pet is family.

Then my dog needed a teeth cleaning (Dr. Gehring did this) and that turned into a much more involved procedure than any of us anticipated. They communicated so well the whole time, Dr. Gehring was excellent, too. They took the time to listen to my concerns about his airway pre-anesthesia, and post extubation, reassured me they'd keep a watchful eye on his breathing post operatively. They called me when they examined him, again after X-Rays, and when he was in PACU level care and then ready for discharge. They gave me clear post discharge instructions and the tech spent about 5 minutes answering questions outside the clinic. Also provided me with print outs of the X-Rays and then emailed me photos of teeth they were able to save that I need to focus on for brushing when his mouth heals.

I really love this hospital, specifically Dr Hillary. Because they run an emergency clinic overnight and on the weekends, which is more expensive than normal, they get a rap that they are expensive. However if you have an appointment like you would at your normal vet, and you manage your pets health well, your bills will be the same as any other vet. My last two trips there, one was $150 and the other was $400 but included urine/blood tests which I wanted. I have found with all veterinariand, it really pays to be clear, put everything in writing, and give some direction. For example, if it’s a first time issue , depending on the situation, I might say that I would rather treat the symptoms then dig deep into the problem - as long as they feel thats safe. There are a lot of things that happen that go unexplained just like our own bodies, if you have a headache you take an aspirin you don’t necessarily get an MRI. So if my animal has some nausea, I might ask for anti-nausea medicine before testing why. of course tell them that if they think this is a bad idea to please let me know, and I will follow their advice.Hope this info helps somebody, it certainly is useful for any vet you go to. Dr Hillary is incredibly well-versed with cats and anytime I have a difficult case, she’s one of my favorite vets to go to. Great communicator, great collaborator, fabulous care.

Dr. Willauer is the best Veterinarian I've ever known. He takes such good care of my little minpin mix, Dixie. He's not your average Vet, he doesn't have a cold metal table to do exams, he has a blanket on the ground so he can be on your pets level, which to me shows his love & respect for animals. He's successfully fixed both of Dixie's knees; cleaned her teeth and kept her healthy, and I'm forever grateful for that. I've referred everyone I know to him & to Central Maui Animal Clinic!

The best place on the island for animal care. The staff is very friendly and caring. The have the best animal surgeons on the island, combined with 24 hr emergency care there’s no place better. Our cat has just come through facial surgery that required his jaw to be wired and meant him having to use a feeding tube, the staff was always there to answer any concerns we had in the month or so we had to use the tube. Dr Ben was always there to follow up with us and explain anything g we had questions about. Dr Wilhuaer has always followed up with calls also when he has worked with our animals. It’s a comfort to know they are there in a emergency, we have had to bring in our cat at 2:30 am before and are grateful for the great care their staff provided. All the vets we’ve worked with seem very knowledgeable and caring, we have always been seen on time and never had to wait for any extended period of time.

Chloe our furbaby went to Central 6 years ago for a very aggressive cancer in her trachea.
They were able to remove it and extend her life.
We are forever grateful for time we had with Chloe and would recommend taking your pet there if you ever need someone 24/7.

I heard mixed opinions about this office. And can honestly say I will miss them greatly. They took excellent care of my young pug puppy Otis and have always been extremely helpful, and answered any questions I had.

Pricing is fair. Any vet you go to will “overprice” you if you aren’t aware of the costs / amount of vets that are hands on with your pet. They do not get enough credit for their 10/10 care. Thank you for all your help CMAC, Otis will miss you!!

Our cat had a severe aural hematoma (swollen ear) and we knew was going to need surgery to reduce the swelling. Central Maui Animal Clinic saw us on an emergency basis the same day we called and, a few hours later, the surgery was done and poor Violet was back home with a cone but on the mend. Excellent service!

They took such amazing care of my two dogs while we had an emergency and had to move out of our house for a few days. It was a stressful time but the team at central Maui were so kind, friendly and accommodating. Can’t say enough great things!!
