We just needed a car to get hs from point A to point B so we selected an older car. It worked just fine for our group.

This was the smoothest car rental process I've ever had. A few days before arrival, I got an email with basic instructions and information about what to expect. The day of our arrival, we got an email with details about where to find the car (including pictures and a map). We used the instructions and went straight to the car. When it was time to leave we followed the instructions in reverse. No waiting in line, no trains or shuttles, straight from the airport to the parking lot. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to rent a car in Maui.

So convenient and good price, multiple drivers not a problem or extra cost. Like the other posts have said, your car is in the parking lot waiting for you, no waiting at a rental company for doing paperwork and upselling. The return is just as easy, the pictures are of the return requirements. You can just use the free Wi-Fi at the airport to submit the return on line.
We have already recommended this company to people on our return flight who did their rental through the big guys and lost precious holiday time and paid too much.
Of course we will use this company again!

From start to finish, Makoa was the very best. As the cars are not new, the price reflects that! The car was older but only had 55 000 miles and it was great to drive. The pick up and drop off were easy. Makoa was attentive to all my requests or questions. It is family owned and I felt valued and appreciated. We were all over Maui except the dreaded road to Hana. The car felt rock solid, comfortable and safe. Mahalo Makoa for my best of many, Mant car rental experiences.

Recently needed a rental car in Maui for a 2 week vacation. I checked all the big companies and found them very expensive. The quote from Makoa was cheaper and the reviews were good so I gave them a try. Turned out to be a great decision because we had a great experience with them. The pickup process was seamless and the car was perfect for our needs. We used it for 2 weeks and the return process was equally seamless. The only minor niggle was figuring out how to get back into the car park area because it isn't that obvious. An e-mail to Makoa was returned quickly and we were good to go. Highly recommend this company and we will definitely use them next time.

Excellent communication! This was the most uncomplicated rental I've ever had. I received pictures & a easy to read map showing my car's location with a lockbox code and returned it to the same spot. I didn't have to wait in any lines or deal with anyone. I got in my car and left. Everything was easy and convenient. Sandy was friendly and easy to deal with. There is a quick email link you click on letting them know you picked up the rental and returned it (with gas and where you parked it) and that's it. Highly recommend. Support local!!

Getting and returning the car was such a smooth process. No waiting in a long car rental line - the car was there in the airport parking lot and we had no issues the whole trip. Reasonable price and very efficient service. Highly recommend.

I cannot express how amazing this experience was with renting from Makoa Rental Car in Maui. After a full day of traveling from the main land, we were tired and They sent amazing, easy to understand instructions on where to find our rental car. It was so easy I couldn’t believe it and the car was waiting for us when we arrived in the parking lot. Car was very clean, good on gas and we got what we paid for. On our 3rd or 4th day we woke up with a Flat tire and called the car company. Sadee immediately called us and told us about the spare tire in the trunk. We were able to swap it out in less than 10 minutes and drive to their base yard to switch the car out which took more time to drive there than switch the car out. The new car was already waiting for us, and the swap was seamless. We spent 10 days on the island and only filled up gas 2x! I also requested to keep the car for 3 extra hours on our return day and Sadee made that a hassle free experience as well. We returned the car at the airport in the same place we found it and I will 10000% only be booking my car rentals through Makoa next time we are in Maui. Mahalo!

Great local car rental. The pick up and drop off process is simple and straightforward. We rented an older vehicle. It was not pretty but it was entirely functional with no issues. We drove it for 3 weeks including all the way to Hana and it performed perfectly. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, reliable vehicle this is the place to go.

It was super easy to pick up after hours. We got a newer SUV and we’re really happy with the car. The instructions were easy to understand and follow, we’ll definitely use this company again next time.

This is the 2nd time we have rented a car from Makoa Rental and both times were great. The cars worked perfectly for all the short and long trips we made around Maui. Both times our flights came in very late and the cars were waiting for us in the parking lot when we arrived, no line ups, just jump in the car and start our vacation. Renting a car this way is just so easy anyone can do it, just give them a try and you won't be disappointed, especially in the amount of money you will save compared to the big rental companies. Awesome car rental option. They're locally owned, and Sandee is responsive and delightful. Reasonably priced and way better than the usual corporate rental shops. Our arrival was quite late and we loved having the option to have the car parked and picked up from the airport's parking lot. Pick up and drop off were super easy and instructions were very clear. 100% would rent from them again.

Amazing experience renting a car! So slick! No people, lines, or paperwork after landing. Just get in and go! Amazing alternative to the big car rental companies. We were able to pick up our car in the short-term parking, without having to go to a counter, wait in line, and sign all sorts of junk. We were happy with an older model car (2015 Nissan Sentra) to save more than 50% off typical rental prices. And the easy drop off sealed the deal. Can’t recommend this enough!

Very easy to use. I admit to being a bit nervous about not using my normal Alamo rental car. But I wish all car rentals were this smooth. We got into Maui late around 10pm. Walked to our car and drove to our condo. No waits at car rental agency or lines to get out of security. Rented a minivan for family of 5 with 5 suitcases. Had a Nissan quest that was plenty big for all of us plus our grocery stop pickup at Walmart. It was an older model van and a bit worn, but functionally fine. I wish there were car rentals like this at all airports.
