Our original plan was to stop here on our way to do the Road to Hana, but we loved it so much we made sure to stop by the following morning (our last day in Maui) as well!

The staff on both days were friendly and helpful. The coffee is delicious! They have some really fun and tasty specialty coffee options. I tried both the Hawaiian Honeybee and Road to Hana (iced) and enjoyed them both a lot.

They have some fun hanging chairs as well as other seating areas inside, but we did think the interior felt warm (like there was no A/C or it wasn't on). There were a couple tables out front as well.

We will definitely visit Akamai Coffee on future trips to Maui! Two thumbs up!

I consider myself a bit of a coffee enthusiast (a bean boy, if you will) and after trying a number of coffee spots around Maui, I can say Akamai is without a doubt the best “third wave” coffee I have experienced here. I tend to gauge a coffee shop by its straight espresso, and Akamai doesn’t disappoint. They make a well balanced shot with good acidity and they serve it in an adorable custom demitasse with sparkling water - that’s how you know they aren’t goofing around. Their menu doesn’t have traditional drinks on it - I figure to cater to a broader crowd - but the barista’s eyes light up if you order a cortado or a flat white (both of which were on point), so don’t be afraid to order your favorite drink.

This particular shop in Kihei was my favorite - way less crowded than the one in Wailea which had a line of resort goers at the door before opening the day I went. The Kihei shop has immaculate vibes and the entire staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about their craft. Aside from picturesque sunsets and wonderful endemic birds, Akamai will be what I miss most about Maui when I head home.

Saw their coffee shop in a YouTube video and decided to give it a try as it wasn't far from where we were staying. Soooo glad I did. The Chocolate chip banana bread was excellent but the star of the show was the Nola Cold Brew.....WOW! Great tasting with just a hint of sweetness from the milk just as they describe it. I'm definitely going back before my vacation finishes!! Enjoy.

My Maui addiction. The coffee drinks here are too good! The off menu La Perouse is not to be missed. Who would’ve thought a topping of salt would be so good. But it balances the maple and vanilla.

Hands down, best coffee spot in kehei! Why, you ask....
1. The employees are so happy, upbeat, and positive!
2. They just simply know how to make drinks! And they have no problem at all accommodating special requests! Like adding honey or butter to my flat white with breve....yummmm!
3. It's local....and I love giving my money back to the community.
So Mahalo, for being overall, in my opinion, the best coffee shop in Maui!

Cute coffee shop with high quality coffee and very friendly service. Plenty of seating and lots of parking.

Just passing by and saw this nice coffee shop in the area. I’m on the island and have to try different coffee shop that don’t exist back home.

Parking for this store is on the back side, got me confused at the beginning but it’s all good. Once you enter the store, the ambience is very cozy and relaxing.

Now to the coffee, I ask the server a recommendation and they both recommend the road to Hana or the Hawaiian honeybee. We both got it anyways. R2H is very good and highly recommend it if your a fan of mocha. The Hawaiian honey bee it’s a bit more on the sweeter side and with a hint of coconut taste to it.

Overall, very solid coffee shop! Mahalo for the experience!

The go to spot while we were in Kihei. We stopped here four days in a row and wish we came sooner. It was a great start to our days and what made it better was the staff and how welcoming they were. She even remembered our drinks! Highly recommend

Google Maps has an issue finding this place,, at least while I was here. But the important stuff... Akamai has excellent coffee. We normally do a good amount of research before picking the coffee places we will go to, and Akamai has already set a high standard. I have worked in coffee for years and highly recommend Akamai for the taste of the espresso and the drink preparation as a whole. The normal amount of syrup they put in a mocha is an excellent complement to the espresso. Fans of good coffee will love this place, fans of Starbucks might want to look elsewhere.

Delicious dark chocolate cafe mocha and warmed croissant sandwich served up by Levi and his coworkers. The ambiance inside is out of this world, to match with the delicious food and drink! Can't wait to go back!

Modern minimalist coffee spot featuring house roasted local beans. A refreshing break from the shlocky tourist traps and that Seattle-based corporate chain. These guys care about their coffee and it really shows.

Friendly service. Nice vibe. Plenty of seating. One of the best cappuccinos I’ve ever had. Banana bread is also tasty. There is parking behind the building that you get to off E Lipoa St.

LOVE this gem we just discovered in Kihei! My blueberry pancake latte was delicious. Like drinking a dessert! Fabulous banana bread, both plain and with chocolate chips. The swings are such a fun addition. Splendid staff.

Best coffee for the past 4 days and multiple coffee shops tried. Nice atmosphere and service, their croissants were great too!
I’m happy we tried it.
Update: keep on coming to this spot daily now. People who work here even on drive thru are really sweet and making me happy.

Great coffee! They offer 100% Maui grown and roasted beans. I stopped by for a quick pour over, and I was convinced to buy two bags of beans. Well worth a stop!

If you want a quality coffee close to a Seattle coffee shop, this is the place to go to. Their coffee is perfectly dialed in. I asked for a short late and the ambiance and service truly deserves a five star review.

i like the coffee here. this is coffee for peiple who like coffee (light-medium roasts, not just ice blended drinks with lots of sugar and cream). kahului location doesn’t have pourover, but kihei location does, so i prefer kihei. lots of seating but seats were still almost full on a friday afternoon. glad business is going well! 🤙
