Dental Care of Maui

I was very nervous about going to the dentist. I’ve had past experiences that really did a number on me. My first interactions with the staff were positive. They were very friendly. I filled out the intake forms and wrote all about my fear. Yup absolute fear. Well let me tell you that the friendliness didn’t stop there. The dental hygienist was so sweet! She was patient and caring. She took things slowly for me. Talked me through everything and was gentle with my mouth. After the cleaning the dentist came in and we chatted it up. Talked family, life then the plan for my teeth.
I guarantee if you want a positive experience with a dentist and staff give them a call.

It has always been a pleasant experience every time I visit Dental Care of Maui. Whether it’s for a cleaning or a check up, I am always treated kindly and with professionalism. The office staff are efficient and great. Both Dr John and Dr Bonnie know their patients and are very caring. They’re experienced and experts at what they do. The hygienists are kind, gentle and non judgmental and almost always offer little tips on how to better clean my teeth. I appreciate that.

Visiting when I lost a crown. The staff worked me into the schedule the same day. Office very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and efficient. The dentist was very professional and thorough. Provided an excellent description of the problem and recommendations for treatment. The charges were very reasonable.

We love the ENTIRE Dental Care of Maui team! They are all gems! Dr John has been seeing my son since he was 10-months old (with a full set of teeth!) and we have always received the most impeccable care! Dr John was even able to notice before our pediatrician that my son had tongue tie, which was the source of a lot of issue we were experiencing with his development. He is a genius about everything teeth related! I highly recommend!

My family have been coming to see both Dr. John and Dr. Bonnie since 1994 (actually, my husband even longer than that). We've always had good experience with them, with the dentists and all the staff. I understand that each person have different experiences, but when I saw all the negatives comments here, I thought I should share our experience because ours is a positive one. I had been recommending Dental Care of Maui to friends who in turn thanked me because they were satisfied.

Cleaning went off without any issues as usual. From reception to procedure to check out, everything was fine. I'm 62 with good teeth and gums because of Hawaii Dental Care. Mahalo.

I enjoy going to the dentist because of the team at Dental Care of Maui. Everyone is so friendly, professional, and most importantly great at what they do. I have been going to them for almost 20 years now, and am completely satisfied!

It's always a pleasure going to Dental Care of Maui from the moment I open the door. 4 years now. Dana is my favorite Hygienist. Dr. John is awesome, had to have a bad tooth pulled. I was clutching the chair waiting for the pull. He says were done! Ninja :D I Always highly recommended to all family & friends. Check them out you won't be disappointed!

I was kept waiting 45 minutes without any communication on why (broken equipment problems). Dr. Bonnie cleaned it up with me, and I'm satisfied that they care enough to fix things like that happening in the future. Got quick feedback, and direction on the tooth problem I'm having, am confident that I got good advice, and it will be resolved perfectly. I would recommend Dental Care of Maui.

I was a little leery to go in for a double work on my teeth. You all are A+ to me. We got it done in two hours, I received the greatest service. Very competent service. You never fail me. I received a pamphlet in the mail about Dental Care of Maui. The pamphlet looked promising so i checked online for their reviews. Many of the reviews were negative and said they would try to scam me out of my money while overworking my teeth. But i had a feeling those reviews were fabricated to bring down the opinion of this clinic. After I read the reviews of this office I was hesitant to make an appointment because i was worried they would say i had many cavities and would try to make lots of money off of me, but i decided it would be good to give them a try and decide for myself.

Here is my experience:

I have HDA as my insurance and they accepted it. Upon entering the office I immediately was at ease. It looked very nice and they had a TV to watch, magazines to read, and friendly staff to talk to while i waited to be called into the back. In the back (the examination/operating room) the equipment and quality continued to be very nice. They had a TV to watch while I waited for Dr. John Uehara and also let me bring a magazine from the front. They had me do x-rays and then Dr. John came in to give me my exam.

Dr. John was extremely friendly. He is a genuine professional, he answered any and all questions I had without seeming tired of me or annoyed. (and being someone very interested in human anatomy and medical procedure i have many questions) The exam went fairly quick and he worked with me on what i wanted to have done and the order we would do things. I explained that i am tight on money and that i could not afford too much but he assured me that my insurance would cover most of the work we would do. We decided that I would return to have 3 of my wisdom teeth removed and that after that we could decide on what we would want to do next. (I have a chipped front tooth, and he had pointed out a single cavity that i can completely agree with its existence) After we made the plan he wrote me a prescription for pain meds so that i would have the meds ready at home after the extraction. I was on my way.

The secretaries were very kind. They worked with me on my schedule (i work most days 8am-4:30pm) and scheduled me the next week for my wisdom tooth extractions. They also went above and beyond to help me confirm my insurance. (I lost my insurance card) Once they confirmed my insurance they quoted me at 155$ for the three wisdom teeth extraction. They also were willing to work with me and my tight budget so as to get the work done and not leave me in pain.

I returned for my extraction the next week. Dr. John was once again very friendly and it was great to have him work on me. The extraction went very quick (about 1.5 hours but felt like 1 hour) and he made sure that i was not experiencing any discomfort or sharp pain. The last dentist i had removed one of my wisdom teeth and it was a brutal experience where they did not write me a prescription for pain meds and told me i would just have to deal with the pain or take a home pain meds. Whereas Dr. John was gentle, relaxing, and very understanding of my situation. He was able to remove all of the teeth with no complications.

After I left the office and went home the numbing medicine began to fade away. I was worried that the pain meds Dr. John prescribed me were not strong enough so I called the office and they talked me through the next couple minutes even though i was giving them attitude and demanding stronger meds. But as they told me, I just had not given the pain meds time to kick in. Soon I was in no pain and feeling fine.

It has been 4 days since my appointment for the extraction. I am convinced I will be using Dental Care of Maui and Dr. John from this point forward. If you are looking for a dentist who will treat you right and will not break your wallet. this is the place to go. I would recommend him to anyone.

The team at Dental Care of Maui was professional and fun to work with. Dr. John was knowledgeable and took the time to ensure that I understood his findings and potential corrective action.

Overall, this was the best dental experience of my life.

Prompt and professional service with a very short wait. My teeth cleaning was thorough and took a while, which is good. Staff is very Aloha, and feels like a family business. This is my 4th time using them and will continue to do so.

I had a crown detach Friday evening cleanly, called the office Saturday morning at 8am when they opened and was able to get in next day on Saturday 10am and have it recemented. Way beyond my expectations.

Doc John is pleasantly informative and gentle hands. His team is 2nd to none. They are thoughtful, concerned about you comfort, extremely conscientious of their hands in your mouth. Bonus they all smell good. Best experience in my 40 yrs. Oh and my father is a D.D.S also.

There are 2 different dentists at Dental Care of Maui, so make sure you request Dr. John Uehara for a 5 star experience.

After being a patient of Dr. John Uehara for many years, I am still very happy to maintain my dental care with him and the great staff at dental care of Maui.
He has upgraded my pre-existing dental work, troubleshot current dental issues, and set me on course to a stellar dental plan. Through it all, Dr. John has provided extremely competent, professional, and compassionate care, supported by his current knowledge of dental technology, as well as his focused and calm team of hygienists and assistants. The front desk has consistently been accommodating for dental emergencies, scheduling changes, insurance and financial processing, and always a pleasure to speak with.

Fast, quick, and painless for the most part...when I needed to readjust my filling I was in and out the same day I called and got in and within 30mins and out in 20min. The girls that take you to your chair are kind and friendly offer you if you want to watch tv. I could go anywhere else but will be going back for more work in the future as they have got me as a repeat customer.

Dr. Bonnie's keen eye caught a problem that ultimately saved me a tooth. She and her staff are very knowledgeable and keep the patient informed of all information that relates to their personal dental health.

Receptionist, dentist and all the staff were very kind. I have always had a wonderful experience with this office. I haven't been there in a few years and their service and friendliness is better that ever. Going on ten years coming to this office. No complaints here.

Absolutely incredible!!!! I broke my front tooth on a Thursday evening and no dentist would see me within a week! Dental care of Maui fit me in the very next morning and was able to make me a crown on the spot, no waiting weeks for a permanent replacement. This dentist was competent and amazing!!!! I can't thank you enough
