This place is worth the drive. Top notch. The staff is incredibly helpful(you may or may not get lost). The Medical staff is superb and knowledgeable. Thank you for your service to this community and ours.

I’ve worked health care before so I may be more understanding on the staff. I have had times where I have had to wait a few weeks for appointments. I’ve also had times where I have been served timely. Sometimes it’s just learning the right words to use and knowing the right people. And being understanding towards the staff. I moved up here from Austin in order to focus on my health be local to my care team. There are so many opportunities that the VA offers. I am so happy I made the transition. Having all my doctors able to see all my medical records without having to bring in records is so helpful to me.

I am an 88 year old WWII veteran. I have been receiving my medical treatment and my prescription medicines at the Temple VA Center since 1978. The service at that time was top notch however the pharmacy was very poor.
Both the clinics and the pharmacy have improved since that time at an exponential rate. I have had the same Doctor on the Maroon Team for several years -- he is very nice, intelligent doctor.
I have been hospitalized several times and the medical staffs have always been very professional, have always cheered me up and given me the best treatment a man could ask for.
I hate to see the letters to the editor complaining about the service. I don't know what their individual problems were, but they could not have received better service at any hospital in Central Texas.

I was very impressed with my visit at the hospital. Very helpful and friendly staff. This was my first visit to Nuclear Medicine (PET). My two caregivers were a joy. Took my mind off my situation. I felt relaxed. The male had one heck of a delightful humor and also professional. Thanks team.

I had to get a colonoscopy the Dr. and staff were very friendly and compassionate in such an awkward moment in my life. I was treated professionally and prompt. This hospital operated like a well oiled machine! I work in the medical field and this is hands down a much better run hospital than any in the Austin or surrounding area!

There are good and bad employees at every VA and good and bad VA's all over the country. My surgical experience yesterday with this VA was wonderful, everyone treated me like I had Blue Cross Blue Shield. As soon as I figure out all of their name's I'll leave a Daisy award note for each of them

I mean technically there providing care to all vets in central Texas. So I mean with that in consideration they meet you in a timely manner. This is one of the best hospitals around this area and best care I've received ever. I mean we could all still be using military doctors. Who cut corners because America cuts funding for us soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen all the time. So I guess with perspective in mind it's the best we're going to get. And I'm happy thus far.

I have received my health care at this facility for several years. I'm a pretty complicated patient with multiple serious health issues. I have always received outstanding quality care here. My primary doctor really looks out for my well being. The Cardiology staff literally saved my life. I'm a retired nurse, by the way.

Went for major hernia pain and received consultation quickly along with next day appointment to assess for surgery scheduling. Thankful for them. Plus pain meds to deal with the issue. A needed relief. Affected job, and may have to get another.

A horrible way to lose a job. But life has issues that must be dealt with. Que Serra. C’est La Vie.

I have had bad care at both va and in civilian life but honestly mostly by civilian drs. I have to tell you, as far as I know: civilian Drs get paid each time you visit. VA Drs. (I am not 100% sure this is true) as far as I know are part of a team. Each team with one Dr. and prob. a PA and/or a nurse prac. Each team gets assigned a certain number of patients. If the team does well people on the team don't have to come back near as often. If not people keep coming back and these teammates are salaried- so no overtime. For example (this is true it happened to me): in civilian life I was treated repeatedly with antibiotics for upper respiratory infections until I was 25 years old, culminating with antibiotics EVERY DAY by age 25 and I had lost 25% of my lungs due to damage from all the bronchitis! NOTE: NEVER USE ANTIBIOTICS FOR UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS UNLESS YOU ARE DESPERATE AND ABSOLUTELY NEVER FOR SINUSITIS!! The very first visit to the VA came at age 25 in 1987, at the KCMO VAMC seeking antibiotics for pneumonia! The Dr DID give me antibiotics ONE TIME but then warned me he would not do it again and to switch to antihistamines. BEST DR VISIT OF MY LIFE!!! I have been mostly antibiotic free for URI free for almost 30 years!! This VA in Temple (visit was for another reason) was a very good one all the staff were very nice but it is taking awhile to get meds if you have them mailed. I think other reviewers give low reviews for this VA in a lot of cases just because the va is free for a lot of people so therefore the perceived care is of poor quality. That is very unfair to the VA.

I have had good experiences here with most of the staff. There were a few bad apples, but you could tell that was personal versus work culture issues like Fayetteville NC VAMC. Never knew how good I had it before I came here.

Appreciate the nurse hotline. They answered right away and the RN was able to answer our question, not in our favor. However, she called back about five minutes later because she found an alternative that would work for his situation. Thank you.

I've been using the Temple VA hospital for over 9 years. Besides the fact they saved my life during a surgery in 2014, every department here has gone FAR beyond what anyone can expect from ANY hospital and staff.
