Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Clinic - Temple West

I am attempting to get paperwork finalized for my son's college requirements but can't find his shot records; well...a more recent record. I crossed my fingers and called his clinic that I labeled on Google Maps (horrible parent...I know). I haven't been here since arriving to the area in 2020. The Urgent/Quick cares were convenient for his sports' physicals...no appointment required (can you blame me!😏) Anywho...I digress... back to the call. The operator's name is Chantel/Shantel/Shontell (you get where I'm going with the spelling). She was super helpful! We were on the phone for so long, the system cut us off!! Now that part was bogus because it couldn't have been no more than 10 minutes. Here's the awesome part...she ACTUALLY called me back!! I never gave her my number nor my name BUT this woman put forth that good 'ole 1980s customer service effort and called ME back. WHAT THE WHAT!!??!! Guys...I done died and gone to...(Jury's still out on that one 🤣🤣!! Let my grandma tell it, I done got a CDL to drive the bus to where I'm going🤣🤣. My classic responses, "fill 'er in from the back grandma!" Or my favorite,"careful grandma...no seatbelts on this ride!") There I go digressing again. Anyways...SHE made my FRIDAY by not only calling me back but by also letting me know that they have a drive-by clinic session tomorrow!! Thank you Chantel Shantel Shontell!

I just wanted to express how amazing the staff over here at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Medical Center has been during our time here. I have never experienced such a wonderful group of medical staff whom genuinely cater to their patients as much as the team here. Even the janitorial and kitchen staff render service with a smile and are extremely accommodating! Thanks to Dr Brunner & her team down in the ER and to the medical surgical floor (5th floor) with Dr Meyer, Dr Littman and their team. Special thanks to T.J.'s nurses, Nurse Belinda, Nurse Liza, and the respiratory team for handling our T.J. with love and care (occasional icecream😉). Often times, we post reviews about our negative experiences, but never tell of the great experiences that we have when being provided a superb customer service. I'm sure if T.J. could talk, he'd also express how thankful he is for such a great team! May each of you continue to blessed for what y'all do for these kids here on a daily basis. If it were up to me, I'd give all of y'all a raise. Again, thank you 💙!

Our family loves this Clinic. It’s close to our home and the staff and our Family Dr. Nickerson are absolutely wonderful! We first heard of this office about 4 years ago when our littlest one was born and have been coming ever since. The front staff is amazing! Bridget, Jessie, incredible women always ready to help us and they always greet us with so much love! The nurses are always so kind and patient with us! If you’re looking for a family practice look no further this is a wonderful place.

They were very attentive and timely in waiting room. They retrieved a wheelchair for a handicapped parent who really appreciated it. And of course our childrens long time Dr. did an excellent and thorough job for their physicals.

Best hospital for my kids check ups! Doctor Isbell is amazing and soo loving and warm to all my kids!

Excellent pediatric clinic. The staff are always friendly and attentive. A bright, colorful, and entertaining waiting room for children.

Hospitals are a 50/50 shot....

But when I can here. I had a great experience, from the beginning to the end.

Impossible to get in. Don’t expect to use S&W if your child is sick. They will not have any availability

I have no complaints with the providers, who are professional and skilled. Be aware, however, that this clinic is technically an extension of the BSW children's hospital, so in addition to getting a bill for your doctor's services, you will also receive a rather large BSW hospital facility charge bill. This will be the case even for an at home video visit with a provider.

This means even if you go in because your child has a cough and a fever, and all the doctor does is take their temperature and have a look at their ears and throat -- no other tests or anything like that -- in addition to your pcp copay for seeing the doctor (our copay is $20) you will receive an additional facility charge, which for us was about $115. You've been warned!

Edit 2: They eventually did respond to me, and confirmed that this is indeed their billing practice (i.e, my experience was not a billing mistake). You can confidently expect a hospital facility charge in addition to your copay.

This clinic is clean & the nurses/doctors are great. However, the front desk staff and scheduling is absolutely horrendous.
Since moving here a year ago, every single appointment I have scheduled with them has either been canceled or rescheduled on their end. My boys have been seen by 4, and now almost 5 different doctors/nurse practitioners.
I have a toddler and a baby who was a micropreemie (we’re talking born at 24weeks and spent 4months in the NICU), so we have had a lot of appointments. All of them, literally every single one has been moved due to being scheduled for the wrong appointment type. And I’m not even going to get into why it would be important for continuity of care for my micropreemie, because you’d think that it’s pretty obvious. But that doesn’t seem to matter at this clinic, so if you’re looking for consistency in care, this clinic is definitely not for you.
At this point it’s worth driving 40 minutes to take my boys to their old pediatrician where the scheduling was flawless and we saw the same doctor every appointment.

I’ll give them two stars, because the doctor was sweet... But MAN the staff here is pretty awful. I’ve stood in front of two receptionists for a full two minutes before anyone acknowledged my presence on multiple occasions. You could tell the were actively ignoring me. The HUGE sign outside says walk-ins welcome, but that’s not always true. The facility is nice, but the reception and nurses all just seemed to hate their life... and make you want to hate yours. A little genuine customer engagement can go a long way, but they’re not even trying.
