A trail with a wide variety of terrain, about a 40 minute walk. Beautiful

Easy trails by the coast or through the forest. Not busy and can have beautiful views of the lake or Copper Harbor itself from a unique angle.

This was a VERY cute place to play, explore, rest, and climb around one. It was fun to walk down the shore a little to get away from the sounds of other families and kids yelling where it was absolutely quiet. We sat and relaxed as well as climbed around and got higher views just for fun. The rocky shore is easy to walk on and even sit on. Please do not leave litter or take things as the signs ask, they work hard to keep this beautiful and alive for all to see. It does not have picnic areas or a playground, but they do have a small porta-potty and a look-out platform.

Gorgeous park. I went on a weekend but only saw one other person so we had the place to ourselves. The entire area was extremely clean, had nice bathrooms available and had dog pick up bags for the puppies. The beaches were beautiful copper colored rocks and the water was crystal clear. You can either walk the shoreline or take the wooded north or south beach trail around the peninsula. This is only my second time going, but it was definitely worth the drive!

Beautiful area for birding and rockhounding! Just prep for mosquitoes and black flies.

Great spot to look for Yooper rocks. The trails are quite bumpy with tree roots and rocks so you really have to pay attention! Easy to walk around once you are at the waters edge. We went to the right off the stairs. Parking was available and free. NOTE : bring a regular flashlight for when it gets dark! There is NO LIGHTING.. NONE! Not even in the lot! I shared photos to show how completely dark it gets at night!

Very unique beach with its copper colored stones. There is an easy access walking path down to the beach and then you can either go left or go right! Both choices are good. We went to the right this year - rock hunting was our goal.

Nice hike, not a walk. The footing is roaacky and rooty—you must watch your step. Also must watch for wet boards and uneven boards in the occasional boardwalk that bridges you over wet spots. Half the hike is along the bay. The other half along Lake Superior. The views, sights, and sounds are tremendous. It’d be fun to go on a blustery day when the waves are up.

Can’t beat this place on a glorious August Tuesday afternoon. Pebble/stoney beaches made of beautiful red rock. Cool rock formations to hop across, and the clear cool Lake Superior on one side and the calm bay on the other. The strip of trees down the middle somehow survive in the same rocks and pebbles of the beaches.

Great place to spend a few hours. Nicely maintained trails and beautiful rocky beach. We parked near the docks and walked along the trail to get to the beaches, but there is a beach-adjacent parking lot that is much closer to the beach. There are some nice rocky areas that jut out into the lake - from there you’ll get nice views of the sunset.

A must see if you're in Copper Harbor. A fun hike for all ages/skills takes you out to the end of the spit. Lots of rocky beaches for treasure hunting - rock beaches are also available with no hiking required.

Absolutely awesome walk. Could hear the crashing of the waves from the north shore while hiking on the south trail. Then when we got to the north shore it was awesome! The waves were pretty awesome. Definitely would go back!

One of my favorite areas to hike / walk in the U.P.! Beautiful scenery amid endless nature. Super easy to access via two separate parking areas--marina or Hunter's Point parking lot.

I personally love the hike from the marina, complete with its walking bridges and gorgeous waterside views. The Hunter's Point parking lot is a great option if you want to skip the hike / walk and simply enjoy beautiful rocky beaches on Lake Superior.

The north shore trail (immediate access from the main Hunter's Point parking lot) is sure to delight with its open views of Lake Superior. The lake is especially exciting when windy, as the open water rushes to shore.

The south shore trail follows the protected bay side of Lake Superior, giving you continual views of Copper Harbor and the elevation of the Keweenaw. I love this route for its many swimmable locations for my dog!

A must visit location, whether you are interested in walking only a few steps or up to a few miles.

The unusual and atmospheric beauty of Hunter's Point Park intrigued me the moment I arrived. The beach is comprised of rust-colored pebbles which clunk and shift as you walk on them. (A number of rock hunters were out looking for Yooperlite rocks when I was there.) The thing is, I was in awe of the variety of rock compositions that were seemingly strewn across the beach in form of pebbles, boulders and outcroppings. Some were obviously volcanic in origin and others looked like a mash-up of cement and stones - possible carry over from the last ice age. The ones that really intrigued me had rust-colored veining in almost circular patterning.

Despite the rocky conditions, or perhaps, because of them, there is a variety of plant life. Lichen and small plants grow on some of the outcroppings. Raggedy-looking trees seem to hold what little surface soil there is in place with their tentacle-looking roots. There are a number of nature trails that you can take into the wooded area - trails that feature half embedded rocks and protruding roots. The sharp-eyed hiker will spot wild flowers and a mix of plants and trees along the way.

My first visit to this park was in the afternoon after some rain, while the dark clouds were slowly moving out. The moody sky only enhanced the initial feel of the location. When I returned the following day, the sun was out, and while the beach and all looked stunning, it had lost that dark, raw nature vibe from the day before.

Hunter's Point Park quickly became one of my favorite locations on my trip to the upper peninsula because of its uniqueness.

Popular spot. Probably a harder hike for little ones since the ground is mostly rock and roots, but definitely worth it. The cedars everywhere are beautiful, and the waves lapping on the beach are so calming. Saw a few swimmers when we were here and they looked like they were having a great time.

This was our first time visiting. We know we want to go back. Another spot along the shores of beautiful Lake Superior.

Couple short trails leading to and from Plimpton Point. Saw some folks out swimming toward that end of the park. South Shore Trail seemed better marked and maintained from start to finish. Our plan was to walk out to the end on the south side then return on the north side. Made it less than a quarter mile back on the north side where it became too overgrown before simply returning to the south trail for the remainder of the trek back. Good place to view sunsets in the summer. Probably sunrises, too, though I can't personally speak to that.

A different perspective of the harbor at Copper Harbor. A fairly flat, short hike, but with lots of rocks and roots. The views are amazing, though. You do feel a sense of accomplishment by making it to the end (especially without twisting an ankle!).
