Toano General Gun Store

I needed a box of ammo and so I made my first visit to the Toano General Gun Store. This is a great place and a great set of guys, Don the owner, Jim and Charles the gunsmith, great service and knowledge, I will certainly return many times.

Absolutely love this place. Went there to pick up a mag and found they actually had .223 in stock. Great customer service. Most friendly gun store I’ve ever been to. Very knowledgeable and they have a really cool custom gun on display.

My husband and I have brought at least 10 guns here, probably way more lol We love Don he always has great inventory and great deals. It’s one of those places you can just walk-in and have a great conversation while there. We drive over an hour just to come see him. Highly recommend!

Don is great to work with. I asked him to order a S&W Airweight. .38 Special and he had it the next day! We worked out a credit for a revolver I had, and traded some .44 ammo for .38, which I now needed for new revolver.
I will be returning in the future and I recommend that you meet Don, the owner, and then enjoy talking with him. He's a world of knowledge and truly enjoys helping you.
A bonus: I'm a 75 year old woman . I had talked on the phone with Don but we hadn't met. When I walked in his shop we shook hands and got right down to business. There was no condescension and I was treated like a competent adult (which I am). It was nice not to hear any "little lady" jokes or comments.

The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. There's a good mix of firearms and ammo usually available. If you like supporting local businesses, this is a good one to go to. They sell guns, process FFL transfers, offer gunsmithing and custom builds, and are genuinely enjoyable to be around. I fully recommend shopping here and supporting this business.

On a camping trip to Williamsburg my husband wanted to stop and see what kinds of guns, etc. the Toano General Gun Store had as he had read great reviews. Neither of us have owned a gun and I'm happy that we went here for our first guns. Everyone from the owners to the customers were so knowledgeable and helpful. We purchased two guns that day. Camping again in the area we needed to pick up some ammo for the guns and decided to go back here since everyone was so kind to us the last visit. We not only left with ammo, but a brand new Glock for hubby. His prices are so reasonable and everyone is great. If you want fancy, this is not your place, go to a large chain store that will charge you more. But if you want a honest deal and great service, this is your place.

Stopped by the store from time to time over the past three years. Always treated kindly by the people in the store and the Man behind the counter. Purchased a sweet .45 410 Circuit Judge. Intend to shop there again.

Was my first time purchasing and was a bit nervous and the store owner was so kind and helpful. Anyone looking to purchase a gun , especially for the first time, visit this store I assure you that you won’t be disappointed .

I am very impressed with the service and knowledge of Don. Shop local and you get his knowledge experience and great service. I am new to the area and found this store to be far better then the others in the immediate area.

Earlier today Mr. Bishard handled a transfer for me. It couldn't have gone more smoothly. He's as down to earth and helpful as you can get.
